Summary: Lucy and Daniel - Aren't they sweet?
Review: I absolutely loved this book. Though I wasn't much impressed by the first half, I was completely caught by the latter half. I was expecting the same tone as her other book Watermelon, but this one was dark. Yet she did not forget her great sense of humor. I can recommend this book to anyone who loves a laugh with a little bit of sadness. GOD, ISN'T DANIEL GORGEOUS?

Summary: Good Within Its Genre
Review: Like many romantic comedies, you know in the first 50 pages who the Lucy of the title is supposed to falling love with and marry. True to the genre though, she doesn't, and it takes 400 pages for things to play out to the point where all is as it should be. The 400 pages in this book mostly work as 20-something Lucy searches London for Mr. Right, deals with her shrewish mother and alcoholic father, her girlfriend/ roommates (one domineering, one ditzy), and her co-workers--who are obsessed with not doing a lick of work. At times the book suffers due to Lucy's stubbornness and inability to see what's so apparent to the reader, but on the whole it's not without it's charm, albeit with few surprises.

Summary: SWEET AND BITTER...
Review: I think that every woman who is given the chance to read this book will find certain feelings that she had sure had the chance to feel in her own life.Lucy is just like the girl next door, ready to help and to offer her shoulder to everybody who needs one to cry on!!!

Summary: Funny, witty, but more serious than Watermelon
Review: I really like Marian Keyes. She is a wonderful author. But, her two novels, Watermelon and Lucy Sullivan, are day and night to me. Watermelon was a fall-off-your-seat kind of funny, very lighthearted and refreshing; Lucy Sullivan was still funny and just as good, but dealt with more serious topics like alcoholism and depression. However, I really liked all the characters, except for Karen, that ol' meanie, and Gus, that ol' freeloader! Lucy was very sweet and her buddy, Daniel, was even sweeter. Ms. Keyes did a wonderful job. Can't wait for Rachel's Holiday to be published in the U.S.

Summary: Reads like a mental health textbook
Review: Why is romance and entertainment built on such a sad topic as alcoholism? LUCY IS GETTING MARRIED is the kind of book that begs for an answer to this quetion.

It's no secret that a deep hopelessness and despair is what every alcoholic suffers. The drunk state gives some degree of relief from the pain of facing reality and other emotional conflicts. It's a kind of sedative. Lucy needs a sedative at times, thus gets drunk herself. Probably too often. Lucy at age 17 had clinical depression. Is this really the stuff that romantic comedy is made of?

This book is interesting to read but not as comedy - it's too sad for that.

Summary: the funniest book i've read in ages
Review: I just love the character of Lucy Sullivan, I think alot of people who have read this book can really relate to her character. Marian Keyes has a way of making the reader jump into the shoes of the character and its as if the book is almost about you, lucy becomes one of your best friends. Being Irish like Marian, I just love the way she portrays Irish women - the way the are. Everyone has a stereotype of Irish women as being Virgins 'till their wedding night (nothing wrong with that either) and leading religious lives and wouldnt even know what it was like to get totally *** faced. Marion Keyes describes them as they are, and I think its great.

Summary: This is no "Watermelon"
Review: I recently made the joyous dicovery of Marian Keyes's "Watermelon". So, you can imagine how excited I was to receive her new novel "Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married". Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I didn't "suffer-through" this book, I did find parts of it enjoyable, I just didnt' have the connection with the characters that I did with "Watermelon". In all honesty, I didn't love these characters, I didn't even like them very much-namely Lucy. This alone makes it difficult to recomend this book. Read this book and be slightly entertained. Read "Watermelon" and laugh-out-loud from start to finish! I do look forward to Ms. Keyes next book!

Summary: AWESOME! Just like all of Marian Keyes' books!
Review: After reading Watermelon last year I knew I had to have more of Keyes' hilarious writing. I got on Amazon UK and ordered Luci Sullivan is Getting Married and Rachel's Holiday. I wasn't disappointed. Luci is a great book that I have passed on to several friends. I am glad that it is now published in the US so that more people can have easy access to it. Buy this book, you won't regret it! If you are like me you won't be able to wait for the next one!

Summary: Fantastic
Review: I was given this book by a friend and as soon as I started reading it I was hooked. Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married is the most fantastic book. Marian Keyes is a genius.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good, funny .. but with a real message.
Review: What I thought would be a really swift read and a very funny book was that and more. For those women who are the adult children of alcoholics and who read the book, there may be some jolts of reality and some ugly truths. Good book!
