Rating: Summary: Good British Humor Review: Move over Bridget Jones and make way for Lucy Sullivan! Marian Keyes' novel was excellent... much more than what I had expected. Although it was slightly predictable, it provided a great dose of both Irish and English humor. I especially enjoyed how the author developed Lucy's character both at work and at home with her roommates. The storyline flowed well; I was unable to put this book down. I can't wait to read Watermelon!
Rating: Summary: I love it I love it I love it! Review: This is one of the best books I have read in a long time! It is SO hilarious! Keyes is such a brilliant writer. I found myself making notes of one funny passage after another. How about this one: "Gossiping was a kind of McDonald's for my psyche. Irresistible at the time, but I always felt sort of disgusting afterward. And hungry again ten minutes later." This book is highly entertaining. I am thankful it is as long as it is; I didn't want it to ever end! Although I was curious to see how the Daniel situation panned out...My next book to be read is _Watermelon_ which is also by Keyes. I hope to see much more of Keyes in the future. I love this book!
Rating: Summary: Love it love it Review: I am a sci fi fan and usually stay away from "normal" books but while in the library one day this got mixed up with my books...IT MUST HAVE BEEN FATE! I loved this book IT made me go back and read watermelon by the same author. I laughed with Lucy cried with her and stuck my tongue out at her friends! IF you have a sly sense of humor and this you life is boring this is the book for you!
Rating: Summary: For a while I was wondering..... Review: if Lucy Sullivan was going to get married. But no matter, this book was hilarious. I especially appreciated Lucy's realization of exactly what those who surronded her in life were. I thought it was a quite realistic look at how people are blinded by the issues staring them straight in the face. Oh, and if I ever have a friend anything like Karen, I don't think I'll be remotely as accomodating as Lucy is. It was funny to see how Lucy and Charlotte tip-toed around her. I wanted to give her what for. I'm looking forward to Rachel's Holiday, if I can ever get my hands on it.....
Rating: Summary: Fun, Cute and a Load of Laughs Review: I read "Watermelon" and it wasn't one of my favs. but so many of my friend had told me what a wonderful writer Marian Keyes is, so I decided to try again. So, I did, with "Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married". Boy, am I glad I did. This was such a fun book. I truly enjoyed it. It was light, humorus and a real treat to read. It's not deep and emotional, but then again it doesn't claim to be. It lives up to my friends high praise. Good Call!
Rating: Summary: It's no Watermelon Review: I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after LOVING Watermelon so much! Unfortunately, it just wasn't as good. I, too, dated an immature, commitment phobic, alcoholic Irishman...and related well to the story, but this book just wasn't as funny or gratifying as the author's other works. I do still greatly enjoy Marian Keyes' style of writing and look forward to diving into her other efforts. However unlike Watermelon, I'm not passing this one along to all my friends!
Rating: Summary: SOOO good! Review: I absolutely *loved* this book and could barely put it down. I laughed out loud and enjoyed all of the characters - especially Lucy. I also loved Watermelon, but this was my favorite so far by Marian Keyes. Can't wait for the next....
Rating: Summary: addictive! wonderful! amazing! the best... Review: wow! Keyes is simply great! A talented writer. Her style is engrossing - it engages you in the story. Her books develop my love for novels written on a first person basis. This book is a must-read! Her 2 other books, Watermelon and Rachel's Holidays are equally addictive! Only problem... i am waiting for Keyes' next book... could not seem to find a more interesting writer... life is so boring now.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, but a bit trivial Review: 'Lucy Sullivan is getting married' is set in London and is of the city-girl genre: young scatterbrained twenty-somethings sharing a flat and looking for romance. It's amusing while it lasts, but a little forgettable; it would probably appeal to people who liked 'Bridget Jones' Diary.' I enjoyed it, but much preferred 'Watermelon' and 'Rachel's Holiday.'
Rating: Summary: Go buy all of Keyes' books! Review: I have read all of Marion Keye's books. Most were bought from Amazon I think she is my all time favorite author. This isn't classic literature folks but her work is so much fun and so entertaining. Do yourself a favor. Buy this book and if you have already read it get Watermelon, Rachel's Holiday, and Last Chance Saloon. You will be waiting and waiting for more.
