Summary: Very Insightful
Review: I found this book to be a very interesting look into the single woman's mind. Not only could I totally relate to Lucy and her character, but the way she kept getting in these self destructive relationships, even though she knew she was being a doormat, was very realistic. I dont know about you all, but I have been Lucy and done the things she has done from time and time. And God, help me, I can also agree with her logic. The ending was somewhat predictable, but pleasing nonetheless. I recommend this book.

Summary: 5 stars for Keyes...as usual!
Review: As usual with Keyes' novels, I found myself laughing out loud with this book. I loved all the characters, even the horrible Karen. It's funny, engaging, and the only thing I didn't like about it was that it had to end!

Summary: Stupid Story About a Woman with No Self-Respect
Review: I bought this book based on all the good reviews it received. I have to say that I am truly disappointed! Such a predictable plot(I knew what's gonna happen before even finishing the chapter 2) and the main character is a pathetic, desparate single woman with no self-esteem. I'm not sure what the author expected the readers to get out of this book. Learn from this stupid woman Lucy Sullivan that self-esteem is important? Or you need to be as pathetic as her to end up with Mr.Right? Had the most agonizing experience trying to finish this long book. Poor writing, very anoying characters, stereotypical portrayal of dumb, desparate single women. Please do not read this book!

Summary: Read Bridget Jones's Diary Instead
Review: This book disappointed me. People who liked it must have very different standards than mine.

While I recognized the basic weaknesses in Keyes's first work, Watermelon, I enjoyed the book as an undemanding, marginally farfetched poolside froth. I expected something more satisfying with this book, her second, but it is the EXACT same story as Bridget Jones's Diary -- except THIS work is predictable from the word go [and] not funny....

In Bridget Jones, you ROOT for the characters... in this book, you want to cover your eyes as they back up for a running start to embarrass themselves...P>Trust me. This book is long, you know what the characters are going to do before they do it (which isn't difficult since all they do is waste time at work, drink to much, and sleep with everyone they can get their hands on... sounds Hemingwayesque, but trust me, it isn't), and even the happy ending fails to satisfy since you'll see it coming from Chapter One.

Remember: Bridget Jones, by Helen Fielding!

Summary: Lucy Ruled!!
Review: I read Lucy before I read Watermelon. I am not much of a reader but I saw this book on the shelf and bought it not knowing what to expect. I started to read it and I was hooked. I wanted to know what happened to Lucy and fast. I think the way Keyes writes is so personal. She makes you believe that the main character is actually talking to you. This book was fun and I would read it all over again!!!!

Summary: Very Good - I'll be reading more of Keyes' work
Review: This is the first book I've read by Marilyn Keyes, but it won't be the last. She is able to mix some truly tragic issues with some very, very funny twists. This isn't a "Tiffany Trott" style race to find a husband - Lucy believes she's met the man that Fate deems will be her soulmate. Yet, over the course of a year, we see Lucy come to terms with her own problems - and Mr. Perfect turns out to be someone other than the charming Irish Gus. (No surprise, we all know at the beginning who the Right Guy is, it's just fun to see Lucy get there.) Wonderful writing - better than many of this genre.

Summary: A little bit racist
Review: I have the misfortune of buying this book as per recommendation of Amazom. There are 2 pages in that book are offending to me, a Filipino. It really turned me off and even regretted buying this book to that point. I hope the author should not get into the the habit of stereotyping the Filipinos in her future book. She might me Irish and living in a first world country but it does not give her the privilege of debasing us in her writing.

To Filipinos, dont buy this book.

Summary: I LOVE MARIAN KEYES' BOOKS
Review: I am going to keep this short and simple as so many others have gone into great detail. ANYTHING written by Keyes is a guaranteed winner! This book is absolutely no exception. After reading it last year, I bought copies for all of my girlfriends. The way Keyes depicts the characters in all of her books just leaves me in stitches. I am dying to get my hands on anything new she has written. For those of you who are new to this author, you too will become an addict.

Summary: Bridget Jones, she ain't
Review: Following a girl's night out visit to a fortune teller, Lucy Sullivan finds her life is just as harried as ever. She can't do anything to please her mother, her workmates are constantly fighting or moping, her flatmates looking for Mr. Right, the right guy comes along, but there is always a flaw. She is supposed to be finding the love of her life, but the most consistant man is her friend Daniel, her brothers, and her seldom sober father. As a matter of fact, the men she is attracted to resemble good old dad....most comfortable with a drink in hand. Lucy has to untangle the complicated give and take of male-female relationships and find her fortune on her own. This book could do with about 100 less pages and with Lucy not being so dense. It is one thing when our heroine is duped by a man who appears to be "Mr. Right" and then slowly reveals his flaws. Many of the men in this book are stinkers from the start, boorishly written and completely unappealing.
