Summary: Wonderful
Review: I just love Marian Keyes! Her book is so enjoyable I couldn't put it down. She writes in a way that you can really relate to the characters and feel just what they are feeling. I sat for hours laughing outload with pleasure. This book is a must!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Great Laugh
Review: Watermelon is a great book: it manages to make a light hearted joke about a situation most would portray as tragic: a husband leaving his wife for another woman after she has just delivered their first child. Many laughs result as she returns home to her family to recouperate and get away from it all. Lucy Sullivan is Getting Maried is the other book written by Marian Keyes and this one is hilarious!!! Anyone looking for a book which is not only a great laugh but also encompasses a great storyline with enduring characters, pick up one of marian keyes' books.

Summary: pretty darn funny!
Review: Watermelon gives a brief glimpse of the talent of Ms. Keyes; however, her second novel, Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married, is so much funnier. If you have ever spent any time amongst the British, you will find this to be a hoot.

Summary: Funny fast read
Review: I was looking forward to reading "Watermelon" as I have been in a similar situation to Claire myself. I found it to be a really good light (but not trashy) read. The book is written as if Claire is talking to you, which means you really identify with her and all her insecurities. It was great when Claire realized that she was fine just the way she was and that she didn't need anyone in her life who couldn't accept that. Claire's family were excellent secondary characters, I can't wait to read "Rachel's Holiday" to hear more about them. Adam seemed a bit too good to be true, or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places! The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I have also read "Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married" and it had quite a lot more plot and was heaps longer than "Watermelon". Marian Keyes' books are so enjoyable to read, it's disappointing to have them end as quickly as "Watermelon" did.

Summary: Read it again!
Review: I am not a person to see a movie or read a book more than once. I love this book. LOVE IT. Will read it at least three times, and for me, that's pretty drastic.

Summary: Great Beach Book
Review: This book is very funny. I really enjoyed it. It was a light read and entertaining - perfect for summer. I did find the fact that he left her right after she delivered and his blatant lack of interest in their daughter TOTALLY infuriating. Claire seemed to focus more on the fact that he left her and not as much on the manner in which he left her.

For those of you with kids - can you even imagine being left hours after you deliver?

Summary: Superb!
Review: Our book club recently read three great books, WATERMELON being one of them. The other two were David Sedaris's DRESS YOUR FAMILY and Jackson McCrae's CHILDREN'S CORNER. I started reading Marian Keyes with Rachel's Holiday quite by accident. I picked it up and realized that the heroine in her story had the same name as myself, Rachel Walsh. I had to read the book! I didn't expect such a funny, moving story. I was hooked. Since then, I have read every Marian Keyes book on the shelf. Watermelon however, is my favorite. Claire is hilarious and all too real. I know so many women who are like her. You get so involved with the characters in this book that you just can't put it down, and you really want them to succeed (and in Claire's ex-husband's case, to fall off the face of the earth!). Anyways, do yourself a favor and pick up this book.

Summary: Scrumptious!
Review: I love books that make me laugh out loud and this one certainly did. The plot was very true to life with such a positive outlook to the future! All of the characters were so unique and quirky. They all brought something special to the story. I highly recommend Watermelon to anyone who wants a heartfelt, funny book!
If you are looking for a book with lots of laughs and lots of tears, but which makes you look at life differently, then this is definitely the book for you! This is the first book that I have ever laughed out loud at, as well as cry!

Summary: Loved it, and reading other books by this author
Review: I didn't know what to expect, I saw her books in the book store and decided to give her a try. It was such a refreshing read! I laughed and felt bad for her, and rooted for her when times were tough. It was a funny and sarcastic read, very enjoyable, but not quite a beach read. I recommend it if you want a fun ride with funny Irish charachters.

Summary: Ahhh... not too impressed...
Review: I read Sushi for Beginners and thought it was a pretty interesting quick-paced read, realistic enough to relate to, funny enough to keep me interested... so when I saw Watermelon in my local library, I picked it up, expected something along the same lines. I have to say I was a tad disappointed. In some ways this story was even boring. The parts that weren't boring just seemed really far-fetched and not believeable, that I found myself not really empathizing with even the abandoned heroine, Claire. I just didn't relate to anyone in the book, much less the main character, which really didn't make for a good experience. I concluded that I might MIGHT try her out again writing in 'third person' as opposed to 'first.' But with a lot of good authors out there, I probably won't go out of my way to find M. Keyes.
