Rating: Summary: A humorous insightful look at a life thrown into chaos Review: This is an excellent summer reading choice. The story of a young woman suddenly single with a child, the book, written in the first person narrative focuses on the hilarious internal battles we all face when dealing with the unexpected that life hands us. The characters are quirky and unique and the banter between them will make you laugh out loud...often.
Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: This is truly a great book! I was lucky enough to borrow this book from one of my English friends--I got to read it before it was published in the US. It drove me nuts when she went back to her husband, because you knew she shouldn't...you just had to agonize right along with her.I can't believe I've never read anything by Keyes before...I definitely intend to buy her other books when I'm in Ireland on my holidays! Keep 'em coming!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC!!! Review: I HAVE READ ALL THREE BOOKS AND AM PATIENTLY AWAITING A FOURTH.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant!!!!!!! Review: I haven't finished reading Watermelon yet..but both her previous novels, Lucy Sullivan gets married and Rachel's holiday are both completely hillarious and I guarantee that once you pick up the book, you're not going to want to put it down.3 big cheers for Ms Keyes, brilliant piece of work.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely fabulous Review: I read a lot and have had a hard time to find really good books lately and stubbled upon this book when visiting London. Having started reading it I found myself never wanting to put down the book, took it with me all the time. Unfortunately I finished the book to quickly, but I am so pleased that she has written two more books.
Rating: Summary: Very Good! Review: I have read her other two books and they are even better. Lucy Sullivan's Getting Married is hilarious and the new book Rachel's Holiday is really good.
Rating: Summary: Still reading and enjoying it! Review: I can' give you my final review yet, cause I'm still reading it. However, I did finish her latest book "Rachel's Holiday", which I just bought in London. This was really marvelleous! The fun thing about it, is that Rachel is the sister of Claire in Watermelon: the whole family is actually the same (mother, father and five daughters). The story is about Rachel who thinks she's going on a holiday to a health farm, with spa's, massages, famous people and that she'll be loosing some weight. Well, she's in for a surprise when she's taken in for drug abuse after nearly killing herself... She is not supposed to be there, she's just a recreational user! At least, that's what she thinks. And than there is Luke too...
Rating: Summary: THOROUGHLY DELIGHTFUL Review: I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER ENJOYED A BOOK AS MUCH AS I DID THIS ONE. MARIAN KEYES HAS A DELIGHTFUL STYLE OF WRITING IN WHICH THE READER FEELS AS THOUGH SHE IS CHATTING TO HER BEST FRIEND. SHE HAS WRITTEN ANOTHER BOOK ENTITLED "LUCY SULLIVAN IS GETTING MARRIED" WHICH IS ALSO WELL WORTH HUNTING DOWN. YOU'LL FEEL AT ONE WITH THE CHARACTERS, WHO ARE CREATED AND DESCRIBED BEAUTIFULLY, AND AT MANY PLACES IN THE BOOK WILL FIND YOURSELF LAUGHING OUT LOUD AT THE AUTHORS ENDEARING TURN OF PHRASE.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for today's woman Review: I really liked this book and I can't wait to buy Marian Keyes's new one! Even though English is not my mother tongue I could understand the language that tells us the situation this girl was in very well. Her pregnancy and the way she handled her adultry husband are shown to us in a brilliant way. It is very much a book about here and now. I liked it just as much as Sisters and lovers by Connie Briscoe, which I couldn't put down either!
Rating: Summary: I could not put this book done..I really enjoyed reading it! Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. A girl at work lent it to me telling me it was good but I couldn't put it done once I started reading!
