Summary: I tried....I really tried.
Review: But, I just couldn't do it. I wanted to love it...I went in with great expectations and high hopes but, it just didn't do it for me. There were moments of greatness but, in the end I was really disappointed. It's really not worth the time or effort. There are lots of other great books out there...find those instead.

Summary: Fun but formulaic
Review: I guess I'm in the minority here. I thought the book read like ' Bridget Jones' meets Nora Ephron et al, but in a superficial way. You know exactly where this fluffy piece of mind candy is going before you finish page one.

Summary: I just couldn't get into it
Review: I'm sorry but I just couldn't read through it. I thought it was dry and boring and depressing. There were a few parts that were ok, but overall it didn't do much for me.

Summary: just wonderful!
Review: I loved this book - it's funny and warm and compltely absorbing. A lot of these single women type books can be quite irritating, but Marian Keyes' are fabulous. Claire is funny and also brave, so I found it quite inspiring in many ways. I read it in almost one go, which is quite something as it's a long book. But I read late into the night, and finally finished it at 2 a.m. with a big soppy smile on my face. The only other book which has had that effect on me is The Trials of Tiffany Trott, which I also absolutely loved, and which is similar to Marian Keyes in some ways. Another book soon please Marian!

Summary: Really Good and Really Funny!
Review: "Watermelon" is one of those "feel good" books. Claire's husband James is being a real jerk so she and baby Kate leave London to go to Dublin to stay with their family. Claire finds living with her parents and two younger sisters proves to be difficult after being on her own. Then Adam comes into the picture and Claire's whole life gets turned upside down. Adam has to be the best thing that ever could happen to Claire. This book is so good that I read it in 2 days.

Summary: very entertaining
Review: Yes, I agree, not nearly as crisply written as Bridget Jones Diary or High Fidelity, and the narrator's talking to her audience felt rather sophomoric. Still, it was an engrossing, if predictable story and the relationships between family members and their good natured skewering of each other was lots of fun to read. I also enjoyed the Irish humor, dialect and sensibility.

Summary: Wonderfully Fun!
Review: I just loved this book. While I enjoyed "Bridget Jones Diary" and the like, I had a lot more fun with Keyes style of writing. Like several other reviewers, I could not put the book down. I found myself rushing home on a Friday night to finish it! (And for me...that's HUGE!) I especially enjoyed the receipe for a date! Hysterical! I've already passed it along to a friend and I highly recommend it to you.

Summary: ok...but not as good as Bridget Jones's Diary or others
Review: I picked this one up because it was recommended for those who enjoyed Bridget Jones's Diary and High Fidelity, among others. I was disappointed, although not completely put-off by the book. It's pretty fun to read (most of it), but at times, the writing style is annoying in the manner that the narrator babbles (i.e., too verbose). It would have read better with some more editing in the narrative which tends to drag on at times.

Summary: Great Fun!
Review: This books is so much fun! It reads like a conversation, as if a stranger in a queue started talking to you, and talking and talking and then suddenly you know all these parts of their life! Kind of life the image of Forrest Gump, sitting waiting for a bus.

Claire has just given birth to their daughter, when husband James decides to tell her that he's having an affair with the woman in the flat below them. Claire goes home to her family to fall apart, which she accomplishes successfully and then, with help, to put herself back together. When her husband shows up to play husband and daddy, Claire has to decide whether no father for her child is better than a cold no-blame father.

Totally memorable and life-like characters, really looking forward to reading Rachel's Holiday now!

Summary: Delightful
Review: I just loved this book-more than any printed word can articulate. While I have read all of Marian Keyes other books and identified with various characters, Claire was almost too close to home. I guess this raised the enjoyment level for me to begin with. Regardless, Keyes writes with a warm, engaging style that encourages the reader to laugh out loud despite themselves. I loved her humour and her wry and witty slants on life.
