Rating: Summary: A VERY WELL WRITTEN BOOK Review: I work (part-time) at a local bookstore, thusly have first hand knowledge of Oprah's book club choices. I picked the book up when it first arrived in the store, read the back cover and turned to the first page & begin reading....that was only a few days ago and I am happy to share with other avid readers that the book is a very well written novel. The author grabs your attention from PAGE 1, when Robert arrives to Kathryn's house with the sad news concerning her husband. I could not put this book down until I completely finished reading it. I have recommended it to my friends and others who are members in the book club I am the president of (Circle of Friends II, Atlanta, Ga). Oprah, you've picked another winner. Keep'em coming! This is definitely a book to keep in your personal library collection. In closing, I might add that I am going to buy other books by this author.
Rating: Summary: Exemplary suspense Review: Wow, I was really taken back. I read very little and usually about rock-album covers. But after Oprah said I should walk more often, I decided to read her book. Oprah really writes well. I love her new pen name (isn't that what it's called). Where do I get it autographed?
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL STORY! Review: I could not put this book down, my father was a pilot and I think Anita Shreve has an amazing understanding of a pilots lifestyle. The story is mesmerizing, you are transported into Ely,NH with Kathryn and her struggle. I loved every page.
Rating: Summary: This book is tedious! Review: I read this book in a couple of sittings only because half of the book tediously explained the first day! I wanted to get to the substance of the book & it never came. I agree with the critics - it was flat.
Rating: Summary: captivating Review: This book is excellent. I read it in 2 days, I could not put it down. After The Reader I was unsure about The Pilot's wife, What a mistake!
Rating: Summary: Did not want put it down Review: It's been quite some time since I picked up a book and didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book very much and intend to read her others. Partway through I realized that the author's name sounded familiar, looked in the front of the book, and realized that I had listened to "Resistance" a while back, which I really enjoyed. A good book to read on the beach or by the pool!
Rating: Summary: Enthralling! Review: I can't remember the last time I read a book so quickly...couldn't wait for the commute home so I could read some more. The imagery in this book is so enticing...the author makes you feel like you are living and seeing right through Kathryn's own eyes and heart. I was disappointed to come to the end of the book because I didn't want to let Kathryn go! A great book to really get lost in!
Rating: Summary: great stuff Review: Great book. Read it in one day. Couldn't put it down. Intriguing use of language, and a delicious (but essentially tragic) story.
Rating: Summary: WHAT A GREAT STORY!!! Review: This book is unbelievable! I started reading and couldn't put it down. This books makes you stop and think about your own marriage. Kudos to the author. You will enjoy this book!!!
Rating: Summary: I could not put this book down, I read it staight through! Review: This book has allowed me to articulate some of the feelings that I have experienced in my own marriage, allowing me to finally express my feelings.
