Summary: If you like Danielle Steele...
Review: If you like Danielle Steele, then you will like this book. If not, this book sucks. It is very predictable, and it is more like a love story than anything else

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Less than mediocre due to a slow and predictable tale.
Review: The book progresses slowly to a predictable end. Even the "twist" that the author adds at the end comes across as a last desperate effort to make the reader feel that they didn't waste their time. It is awkward and unsatisfying.

Summary: very very good
Review: Dieses Buch hat mich schon sehr lange fasziniert. Es war auch für alle Bekannten so interessant, dass es nach dem Ausleihen nie mehr wiederkam. Martina

Summary: This was SO Boring!!!!
Review: I don't see how this book made it for the Oprah Book of the Month pick. I did not develop any connection with any of the characters. It should have been a quick read but I always got sleepy after one chapter so it tok me over a week to finish. Nothing made me want to continue to read the next page. As an avid reader who can finish books in a day or two, this book was a major DISAPPOINTMENT!

Summary: Predictable but Good!
Review: The story line was predictable from the first page. The word pictures about living by the ocean were vivid. Worth a read but not the hoopla!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Quick, fluid, a bit contrived
Review: I read this book before it became an Oprah book, and I confess I'm surprised... it is well-written, but it's somewhat unbelievable and contrived, and doesn't really stay with you... But Ms. Shreve is a good and deserving writer and I hope the fame and glory won't spoil her for the next one... check out her other books.

Summary: An awesome book which I would highly recommend to everyone.
Review: I have just finished this very powerful book, sad I had finished it and wishing the story would go on and on. Throughout the book I was trying to envision scenerios for the ending and came no where close to how the story played out. This story was beautifully written, powerfully played out with characters you developed a place in your heart for. Do we ever really know someone? After reading this book I realize I will now question my own judgement about future relationships. I only wish the story did not end there. I encourage Anita to write a sequel for those of us who need to know where the story goes and indeed "how are the children?"

Sincerely,

Laurie Johnson Anchorage, Ak

Summary: IT GRIPS YOU IN AN UNKNOWN WAY, FICTION YES BUT REAL
Review: A WONDERFUL EASY READ ,VERY TRUE TO LIFE, WHAT YOU DON`T KNOW WILL NOT HURT YOU UNTIL YOU DO AND THEN YOU GO ON WONDERING, IT LEAVES YOU WITH QUESTIONS ANSWERED YET LEAVES SOME UNANSWERED ONES

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: THIS STORY ALMOST BROKE UP MY MARRIAGE!
Review: Just kidding! However, it did lead to me and my husband having quite an intense talk about the secrets that husbands and wives can ultimately keep from one another. I wished Kathryn had been portrayed as a much much stronger character and the ending was a little disappointing. I look forward to Oprah's next pick and I also want to recommend Green's "PSEUDO COOL" for another powerful read that can lead to some very important discussion.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: a compelling read
Review: A fast paced story of one woman's journey to discover her husband after his recent death. The main character handles her crisis more gracefully than most of us would!!
