Summary: I loved this book from beginning to end.
Review: This book captured my interest at the very beginning and held it until the last page. The characters were believable and you could feel their grief and confusion throughout the story. The conclusion was a surprise I hadn't considered and the outcome was compensatory. My only disappointment was in the last paragraph which was not understandable to me. In summary, however, this was a book I could have stayed up all night to finish and I can't wait to pass it on to my daughter.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I couldn't put it down.
Review: I really enjoyed The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. I want to read Shreve's other books now. I hadn't heard of her before this novel and I want to read her others. I think it would be a good movie.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: well written and detailed
Review: From the first page of the book I felt I was there with Kathryn. I saw her house, I felt her pain. I enjoyed the plots and the discoveries made with Kathryn. I plan to buy other books by this author.

Summary: Untouching
Review: From the beginning of the book I knew what was going to happen. I was not surprised at all. For lack of a better phrase, "the book just didn't cut it".

Summary: Very good .
Review: I thought the story line was great especially when things turn around the corner and lead you another way. Very moving .

Summary: Not too exciting.....
Review: I felt it really dragged on and on about nothing, especially in the first half of the book. It picked up and became a little more interesting toward the middle and end but still nothing to rave about. The characters were just boring and hard to be interested in. I definetely wouldn't recommend this to anybody. This was my first book by this author, but I think I will give her another try with a different novel.

Summary: I was very disappointed in the total story .
Review: Having watched the Oprah introduction for this book on television, I was elated when it arrived in the mail. But that was where the excitement ceased. I gave it two stars because it gave me something to read on the plane ride to Seattle the same evening, otherwise I would not have been so generous. Thinking perhaps I had missed the connecting thread, I re-read the book again. Oprah said the book would make question if you really knew your spouse. I never did. Even though my husband is not a traveling salesman or pilot, which would keep him away from home, I could not imagine a husband of that many years only slipping up one time (the bathrobe sales receipt). I did not get the feeling of the relationship she had with her spouse prior to his accidental death. I think that was why I felt I really didn't get to know the main character. The Catholic part threw me as well. The 1st wife believed their marriage was first in her husband's mind, and yet, not only did he cheat on her and have a child with another person, he married the other person in the Catholic church. He never married his 1st wife in the Catholic church. If you follow the guidelines of the Catholic church, he and his 1st wife were never considered married in the eyes of his faith. So I didn't understand how she could come to that conclusion. I just thought mainly, I was wasting time reading it and I was sad I spent the money to send it to my mother and sister prior to reading it.

Summary: Simply wonderful, compelling, well written.
Review: I see many one star reviews of late, so I must write and vent my support of Ms. Shreve. She is a talented writer and I adored her novel. In fact I went out and immediately bought all her other books and am saving them like treats for later. Feh to her critics. I only hope she isn't reading this detritus, lest it hamper her from her real task, which is to move and entertain us. Well done.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Fairly predictable
Review: A cross between a romance novel and a mystery. However, it was pretty easy to figure out what was going to happen. Fast and easy beach book.

Summary: Oprah: queen of spin??????
Review: I can't believe the spin Oprah gave this. This is one of the worst books I've ever read. The characters are one dimensional and Mattie is too bratty to command any sympathy. I find it hard to believe this isn't the author's first book. What's with the constant and very annoying references to arms (crossed over the chest; crossed over the face, etc. etc. etc)?? Reads like a reject from Writing 101. Oprah has pulled two boners in a row. Three strikes and she's out as far as I'm concerned!!
