Rating: Summary: This book takes you into the soul of the main charactor Review: From the very first page I was hooked. I felt everything with her. As events happened to her they happened to me. It's been a long time since I have gotten so involved with a charactor. Excellant book. Terrific author.
Rating: Summary: put your antennas up girls Review: Do we want to spend our married lives on constant alert that he might deceive as Jack did? Although I do belive his wife missed obvious clues because she comprised her relationship by settling for a "good marriage".I enjoyed this book as a quick read and penetrating story. The extent of his deception was unimaginable, having an affair is managable deception by my scale, but to father other children and be married in a church took the word to a higher level. I was not as offended by the IRA involvement and arms smuggling. WOW
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable plot twists had me hooked from the first page! Review: This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. Just when you think you got it, the story takes another unexpected turn. I read the entire book in a day. Unlike other authors who's books always seem the same, just different titles, plot themes, and locations, Anita is an original. Her attention to small details makes me feel as though I am in the middle of this story, both emotionally and physically. For anyone who likes to be surprised and thoroughly entertained by a book, from the first page to the very last, I HIGHLY recommend this one.
Rating: Summary: Book of Deception Review: This book was excellent! I couldn't put it down, and when I finally did I had to pick up the rest of Anita Shreve's books! They're all great!
Rating: Summary: a good book for the beach or an airplane trip Review: Although this book is not the quality literature that I have come to expect of Oprah's picks, it was light and readable. I would recommend it for a lazy summer afternoon at the beach or for an airplane trip.
Rating: Summary: A bit diappointing!! Review: This book was not a real page turner for me. Too many unanswered questions. Such as what happened to the two children. The plot was a little stale and predictable. Quick read. Nothing I'd reccomend to someone who's looking for a great book.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! The emotion & mystery pull at your heart strings. Review: I picked up this book at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, and at 10:00 p.m. I put it down. (I was finished.) I am not a quick reader--I just couldn't walk away from this tragedy. My heart bled for the characters of the novel. Anita Shreve has my attention forever!
Rating: Summary: What's with the ending? Review: I was so excited to start this book after hearing all the hoopla! It starts off with a "bang" but loses it along the way! Why didn't I feel the wife's anger? And why was the "other woman" so smug? I really wanted this to be a five star......but I too felt it ended with too many unanswered questions and loose story lines.......read it if you have time!
Rating: Summary: Catches reader's attention from beginning to end. Review: Excellent story about deception. Makes one wonder how well we really ever know someone else. It's an easy read, fast moving and intriguing. Recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down Review: This was one of those books that came highly recommended by a friend who shares the same love of books that I do. The story is one that I could see myself in because although I have been in a relationship with the same man for over 20 years, I have, as I am sure other woman have, gone through periods where I look at him and wonder if I realy know this person. The Pilots Wife is one of those books that makes you wonder if you have the same ability to love someone, know someone and yet be so naive about them and in some ways yourself. I have recommended this book to my teenage daughter because of the sensitive story it tells, you want to know who and how they survive. There is never enough time in the day to read the amount that I would love to, but for this book, I made the time. I don't remember the last time I ripped through a book as quickly as this one!
