Summary: Entirely forgettable
Review: Books I read can usually be categorized into 1) thought-provoking works that stay with me for years; and 2) pieces of fluff that occupy my time much like trashy TV. I place this book in the last category. I read it a week ago and have already forgotten the point--as well as the plot! PLEASE--don't insult us by calling this a "woman's book".

Summary: Thoroughly entertaining
Review: I absolutely loved this book. The only problem that I had (and that was only in the beginning), was the way the author would switch from past to present from one chapter to the next. Once I got used to that, it became another of those quirky things that I liked about the book. Read it, you won't be sorry.

Summary: Too predictable
Review: I read this book on a weekend. I read this book in two days because I wanted to get it over with and get on with my life. I finished the book hoping that I would understand why people found this book so interesting. I knew the plot once I found out Kathryn and her husband had separate accounts. It was predictable and there seemed to be very little character development.

Summary: An easy read but very good
Review: My sister recommended this book to me and I didn't think I would really enjoy it. I started reading it on Friday afternoon and finished it by Saturday! I couldn't put it down. I agree with a previous review that there were some typos and a few sudden locale changes without explanation (I had to reread paragraphs several times to make sure I didn't miss something). However it was still good and definitely a good beach read!

Summary: An intriguing and breathtaking novel.
Review: "The pilot's wife" by Anita Shreve is a truly breathtaking novel that leaves you on the edge of your seat from the moment when she hears that knock on the door. Anita Shreve makes the novel very easy to read and keeps you interested throughout the story.

Summary: Riveting - well worth the read.
Review: Just read this book this morning. Couldn't put it down. Very engrossing, but also unnerving, as it forcefully highlights the degree to which we don't know everything we think we know about our partners.

Summary: A "SHOCKER" SOMETHING THAT COULD REALLY HAPPEN.
Review: I could see the faces and places in my mind since the book was so well written. I could not stop reading this book and I actually finshed it in a day and a half, a frist for me. I have recommended this book to my friends and strangers I have met at the book store.I now wonder if more spouses will really trust and believe everything they are told, when a loved one has to travel and acts strangly?I can actually see the sitution really becoming a shocking reality and how some could lead a double life such as written in this novel.

Summary: I could not put this book down
Review: I loved this book. Unfortunately, I knew the "secret" ahead of time because I heard an Oprah ad before reading the book that gave it away. Despite this, I could not wait to see what happened next. In reference to the reader/reviewer from New Jersey ("Ending too abrupt,") I think you weren't paying much attention. Shreve was clearly giving us flashbacks to describe Jack & Kathryn's relationship, as Kathryn herself strives to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and to mourn her husband. At the end, she is clearly speaking to "A.," as in "M at A's." I highly recommend this book, as well as "Eden Close," and "The Weight of Water," by the same author.

Summary: a good read
Review: I didn't like the title of this book, so I put off reading it until my mother told me how much she enjoyed it. It wasn't what I expected, some of Oprah's books are not what I would normally pick out for myself. Once I started reading I was captivated by the narrator of the book. She is smart, a good mother, loves and trusts her husband, and just can't help herself from finding out the truth , even though, at each step, she thinks to herself, "do I want to know this?" It shows how, even when you love someone completely, you may never really know the person that they are. Loved this book.

Summary: Story of core betrayal of a married woman
Review: An easy read, page turner but the jolt is in the complete and seemingly easy betrayal of a wife by a husband. I felt we never knew the real husband who seemed to love his daughter much more than his wife and I wondered what sort of love existed between husband and wife to begin with? In this case, the real wife was the other woman. How would one begin to survive this betrayal and begin again with any sense of trust in what is real??
