Summary: maudlin -- to much interior dialogue and not much action
Review: I found this book very disappointing. The only fully fleshed out character is Kathryn; I never felt I knew Julia, Robert or Jack. Too much time was spent on interior memories and monologues; I didn't care for the device of switching back and forth to "splinters of memories".

Summary: What a yawner!
Review: I really don't see what the attraction was with this book. It went nowhere fast. Poor character development....it read like a dream. I felt like I was reading the Condensed version published for a magazine. I felt like something was missing...all of a sudden there was this whole IRA issue....Oprah picked a yawner here.

Summary: Very engaging
Review: From the very beginning I was engaged in this book. I very much enjoyed Anita's descriptive writing style. Not much keeps me entertained on a long journey, but most of the way driving through the rocky mountains on vacation, I couldn't put the book down!

Summary: Captivating Novel
Review: I happened to catch Oprah doing a review of this book on hershow and it prompted me to go out and buy the book. She wasright. . . I curled up on the couch the same afternoon and read the entire book. CAPTIVATING. Awesome and unexpected ending. You simply sit and shake your head. Definately a must read.

Summary: Great book to bring to the beach!
Review: Found it to be a page turner. Gave it to my parents to read and they loved it as well. Highly recommend!

Summary: not a bad book
Review: I expected more from this book, however it is better than anything produced by Johnny Dull'em (the one whose books get turned into big movies)

Summary: boring, obvious and depressing
Review: If you are looking for a slow, depressing book, this is it. Death and betrayal with an aweful twist in the final 75 pages. Boringggg. Save your money

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A true to life narration of going through mourning
Review: The Pilot's Wife began as an enthusiastic attempt at putting together a character in mourning. At times suspenseful, and at other times predictable. The writing was average.

Summary: Not great, but certainly not worth missing.
Review: I found this book engaging throughout, and particularly the last 20 or so pages were worth it. A good, enjoyable summer read. I felt the environment of her home, I enjoyed the relationship of mother/daughter, and the growth of the story from when they meet, her gradual insights that maybe their marriage wasn't all she thought it was cracked up to be, made for a good read. The father/child relationship was enormously compelling and made me help understand and sympathize with Jack -- that stinkin' rotten rat.

Summary: Awesome book!
Review: Great book! After reading the first chapter, you wouldn't want to put the book down. The ending is what you least expect. The author is able to provide suspence and make you continue reading. It was written so close to reality, that I could almost feel what she's going through, and imagine the scenes of her memories with her dead husband.
