Rating: Summary: A So-So Read Review: I kept reading this book and reading this book (and reading this book) because I was waiting for something to happen. It held my interest, that's for sure... but under a false pretense. This book tricked me into thinking it held a surprise... something exciting... something adventurous... then boom! It was over! I wasn't left with a new outlook on life, I wasn't left questioning anything or contemplating complex moral issues; I was left feeling cheated out of a really good read.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down! Review: This is easily the best book I have read in the past six months. I am a VERY slow reader and read this in one day. Shreve's writing style is absolutely beautiful. A very enthralling story. Can't wait to read more of her books!
Rating: Summary: I need some help here. Review: I must admit that I enjoyed the book. It was not the best I ever read but I did stay up all night reading it. My job requires me to read mostly historical fact and this was a fun escape that I don't indulge in very often. But...what is up with the ending. Did anyone get it? Who was she calling, the apartment of the other wife and why? I would appreciate an answer from someone. I feel like a no brainer but maybe I am just too logical to get what happened in the end.
Rating: Summary: Very Good but dissapointed Review: The book was really good and it was fast paced and I whizzed right through it but when it came to the end I was really dissapointed. It ended too quick and I wanted more out of the ending.
Rating: Summary: Mamalinde Review: Grief, sudden loss, betrayal, along with the sense of never really knowing someone, seem to be the message in this book. Having personal knowledge of all these things, Mamalinde finds that the author has conveyed the stunning, shattering pain with an unerring accuracy. However, Kathryn (the Pilot's Wife) seems wooden and contrived, the only character blessed with humanity seems to be the Pilot. Well written and thoughtful, but devoid of hope, faith, or any warmth whatsoever.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is a wonderful books that shows how love can often blind a person to the truth that is right in front of them. This book reads very fast. You never know what is going to happen next.
Rating: Summary: Skip it if you are a Pilot's wife Review: I was very disappointed in this book. It was extremely overrated. The plot was weak, predictible, and unrealistic. From the beginning, I could see were the story was going. Pilot has an affair with a Flight Attendant - could anything be more cliche? I was annoyed at how oblivious that Kathryn was to Jack's schedules. Everyone knows that an international pilot would never work 5 days on and two off. Also, Ms. Shreve, I would love to know how a pilot starting with a startup airline could have every qualified for a mortgage on a $400,000 house. There are too many inaccuracies for me to list and too many questions left unanswered.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: Great book. Fast pace. Finished it in one day
Rating: Summary: Exceptional Review: You can really lose yourself in this book! I love books that I don't want to put down, yet I am disappointed to finish. I look forward to reading other work by the same author.
Rating: Summary: The Pilot's Wife was wonderful Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the Pilot's Wife. The many twists and turns of the plot kept you interested and not quite able to guess what would happen next.
