Rating: Summary: Curious to meet the author Review: Like some of the other reader's, I also suffered the loss of a husband after 20 years and dealt with a certain amount of betrayal - I always find it interesting to read these reviews regarding a book that deals with grief. In my opinion, she has captured so many of the emotions I have dealt with, I find it hard to believe she herself has not suffered a major loss in her life either as an adult or child. I have come to the conclusion that many of us have learned to deal with our grief through reading books that are able to closely mirror these intense feelings. I also always wonder if the people who haven't enjoyed it have never had a loss that provoked these feeling or just haven't learned to honor those feelings.
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: I thought that this book was an enjoyable read if you are looking for with lots of twists and turns.
Rating: Summary: Probably the worst book I've ever read Review: I think my subject line says it all. I forced myself to finish the entire book, thinking it would get better or have a great ending. It was boring, predictable, and frustrating. Kathryn was a weak and annoying woman, and I didn't find myself caring about her character at all. I also didn't like how every other chapter would alternate between present and past...so cheesy. Terrible ending!
Rating: Summary: Easily forgotten Review: The title and situation hook you in, then the sensational beginning keeps you reading and waiting for the real story to start. Surely Kathryn is going to have a magnificent affair with the guy from the union (see I've forgotten his name already, he dwindled out of the story quickly as well after dominating the beginning - why?) A few days after finishing the book (yes I did finish it) I have all but forgotten every detail. A truly forgettable book but ok as a 'veg out'.
Rating: Summary: The Pilot's Wife Review: A remarkable read! Having just lived through the end of my 27 year marriage (precipitated by my learning of my husband's 3 year affair), I was astonished by how perfectly Shreve captured the feelings of dislocation, numbness and disbelief one feels in the wake of intimate betrayal. I couldn't put the book down.
Rating: Summary: I wish I would have read these reviews before reading it. Review: I found this book .. boring .. I managed to get through it .. and was very disappointed in the end. It was hard keeping my interest .. and I was curious about the end .. because I thought something more was going to happen. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: THE PILOT'S WIFE Review: The first few pages hooked me in and I continued to read only to be disappointed. To have no inkling of what her husband was truly like made me angry at the character Kathryn.I just can't get over this enough to recommend this story to anyone . I had figured out his secret before she did. The fact that I solved the big mystery on my own made my enjoyment of this book minimal. Too bad because it started out great and then just frizzled.
Rating: Summary: The Pilot's Wife Review: I loved this book. Shreve flows, page after page, never wanting to put the book down. I listen to the audios as I walk or jog and I found myself walking for long periods of time because I couldn't find a good break. It flows so well.
Rating: Summary: Caution Review: Actual pilot wives should not read this book! It centers on situations that are very real but very unpleasant to think about. A pilot's wife would not consider reading about a woman dealing with these issues entertainment. However, the book is really well written.
Rating: Summary: The Pilot's Wife Review: I thought this was a great read. Normally, I'm a slow reader and I zipped through this book. For the reader from Ohio- The call she placed was to "A" on the lottery ticket. I'd recommend this book to anyone! It was thought provoking.
