Summary: Very well written and realistic and emotional-not original.
Review: I think that this is a lovely book for anyone to read--it shows perfectly good human emotions and it helps to know you aren't alone if you've been hurt similarly and it helps you understand people better if you haven't been hurt this way. The author is very descriptive and really helps the imagination. I love how realiztic and truthful and hard this book is to accept as the way the world goes. The idea itself isn't original, many authors write about it, but I feel it was expressed very well in this particular book. A Good buy, but probably not worth $11-14 (Of course I'm a teenager with no job, so I have a slightly different perspective on money than most of you!)

Summary: I felt I knew the characters...
Review: Great read! After putting down the book, I was angry at Jack, I pitied the flight attendant, and felt hopeful for Kathryn. It has been a long time since characters got under my skin like that. I loved Anita Shreve's writing style.

Summary: The Pilot's Wife
Review: I hate to read- but I read this book in 2 days! Even though its predicatable-it carries your interest and make you want to read more. Its fiction - a make believe story - that is enjoyable to read. Can't wait to read more of Anita's books!

Summary: A disappointment
Review: Friends told me this was a great book. The author was focused on the relationship between mother and daughter and seemed to throw in the rest without going into detail. A lot of expansion could of been done here. I also would like to mention that I was disappointed in the last line of the book. It seemed out of place. Shame on Oprah for recommending this one.

Summary: One I really couldn't put down.
Review: Really. This was spell binding. I never wanted to put it down.... simply because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Incredible how the author related the main characters' emotions. It makes you wonder how many times life "imitates" fiction.

Summary: Slow and poorly written
Review: This book was a huge disappointment. I can't believe Oprah recommended it. The writing was amateurish. The story was obvious. I wouldn't read this author again.

Summary: Loved the Book!
Review: A spellbinding book that simply couldn't be put down. While it is a quick read it was refreshing to be pulled into something I would never want to go through. It was a good break and simply put, made my day. I enjoyed the depth of the characters...I could feel the pain and anguish but wasn't drawn out until I was worn out. I will definitely be reading more of this author.

Summary: avid reader
Review: The plot is predictable and is not very moving. It was a quick read almost not worth the effort.

Summary: Not a fan of Shreve
Review: When I first read The Pilot's Wife I thought it was pretty good, but with a not so good ending. It was a book that I enjoyed until it just kind of dropped off at the end. But then I read The Weight of Water and was quite dissapointed by that. It also seemed not to have a real ending. And finally, I gave it one more try and read Where or When. I just finished it today and have decided that Shreve just isn't a very good writer. She doesn't develop characters and her endings are terrible. The central characters in Where or When were totally unlikeable and unsympatheic. I hope Shreve's own life is not reflected in her stories, because her stories are nothing special.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Barely worth the effort
Review: Although I was interested enough to finish the story, I felt it had been a waste of time when it was over. Everything happened so conveniently. It was highly predictable and a little too neatly concluded. Really not worth the effort.
