Rating: Summary: Nicholas Does it Again Review: The Rescue touches the heart as does all of Nicholas Sparks' books. The characters are believable - they could be anyone you know. The plot is believable - fireman meets single mom. The twist and turns in the book are what make it original. Sparks always seems to bring a tear to the readers' eyes whether in the beginning, middle, or end. This book is no different. Happy endings are wonderful, but Sparks' tear jerkers (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember) are a better read.
Rating: Summary: Sentimental, but addicting Review: I fell prey to the writings of Sparks like so many great readers do. I had heard his name mentioned one too many times and decided to jump on the bandwagon. I must say I was suprisingly pleased. I, myself not a large fan of romance was sucked in by his excellent descriptions and twisting plot. Yes, at times a little more fluff than I like to digest at sitting, but still greatly written. As much as you promise yourself you aren't going to read any further you will find it impossible to put it down. A great story of human truimph. I can see what all the fuss is about.
Rating: Summary: Heart warming and real! Review: Excellent book! Nicholas Sparks writes from the heart and shows real life situations that aren't always perfect. Sure it's fun to read the fairy tale romance novels but when you are ready for something real where the characters are flawed but somehow find their way through life then this is the perfect book for you. The answers to lifes problems aren't always easily found and I give the author credit for showing the painful side of relationships as well as the wonderful side. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: oh wow Review: The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks is one of the most heart-reaching novels I've read. Denise's undying love and devotion to her son, Kyle, really touched me. I don't think most mothers would have taken a child's case like his into their own hands like Denise did when therapy didn't work. It was the pain, patience, and hope of her, as a mother, that got my attention when I read it. I didn't really sympathize with Taylor over his past personal problems. At times he was likeable, but the way he hurt Denise and Kyle really made me sorry (though it's only a story.) This book would teach anyone who cared that you should be happy with what you have, and to NEVER EVER GIVE-UP.
Rating: Summary: don't waste your time... Review: this book would not have received a star from me had amazon not required me to fill out the rating, but i guess the 1 star could be given for effort. The plot is totally contrived, predictable, and has all been seen before! just the fact that a single mother who has gone through a lifetime of hardship and being rescued by a firefighter is evidence enough that the book is a total cheese-fest. the writing is so low-level at times that it automatically prompts the reader to roll his or her eyes at such bad writing. taylor's (the firefighter's) best friend saying things like, "you're like my brother" is an example of the [bad] storytelling in this book. i hope they don't make this into a movie like they did with his other two books. how sparks makes it onto the "new york times bestsellers list" is beyond me.
Rating: Summary: Lost in Love Review: The Rescue is a a novel that I took to heart. When Denise moves back to her mothers house she thinks all here problems will be fixed. Then in the blink of an eye and a rather bad strom her life was changed. Her son gone and waiting to be found. After the rescue team sets out and hours go by no one knows if anyting can be done. Then days go by and things start up again including a new love affair. She knew she had had bad luck in the past but this she wasn't sure of. I am personnaly not a big reader. I find it very hard to sit down and enjoy a book. Once in a while I will. I found myself with my nose in this book untill the last page every chance I could get. Even in the doctors office. I found that Nicolas Sparks used alot of emotion in this novel. I found my self in all kinds of moods while reading this novel. Laughing out loud, and at some points even getting teared up. I suggest this book to and one that has a soft side and a love for the meaning of family.
Rating: Summary: A Great Love Story! Review: Nicholas Sparks has once again written a great love story. I loved the interaction between the characters. If you like uplifting, simple love stories that leave you feeling good inside, read The Rescue. Fans of Nicholas Sparks will absolutely love Shade of the Maple by Kirk Martin - he may be the next Nicholas Sparks!

Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I got A Walk To Remember for Christmas and read it. I couldn't put the book down...All his books are great and this is not an exception. The book started off a little slow, I have to admit but it gets really good. Nicholas pulls the reader into the lives of these people and makes you feel what they feel. This book will make you laugh, it'll make you cry, and make your heart smile. Read this book. It's a great story for anyone; firefighters, their wives or girlfriends, best friends, even regular people like me who doesn't even know a firefighter. I just read it cause I like Nickolas' books. And I guarantee that you will too. Check it out and see for yourself.
