Summary: good book
Review: I've read several of Nicholad Sparks books, this was a great love story. It is sad though somw kids do have learning problems like Kyle did. The story ended good. This will make you cry. Like any other Spark's book. Read this you'll love it. It does start slow but keep reading it, gets better.

Review: I have just recently finished The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks, another one of his wonderful works. This book is about a brave, single mother and a courageous volunteer firefighter, and how their friendship eventually blossoms into love. Nicholas Sparks brings back his original charm, and creates a whole other view that you can really tune into and understand. I give this book four stars because it is not one of Spark's best works, but the characters and the plot are what kept me hooked on to it.
Comparing The Rescue to another one of Spark's works, The Notebook, The Rescue is without a doubt the winner. The Rescue has better characters, a better storyline, and a much better ending. The Notebook hooked me in the beginning, but near the end I lost interest. The Rescue kept me hooked the entire time. I could not put it down!

Summary: Mediocre effort
Review: First, let me say that this is the first book that I have read by Nicholas Sparks, and perhaps it was a poor choice and not fully representative of the author's skill. That said, I found the plot of this novel to be entirely too predictable; the deaths of his father and another character are the most glaring examples. I thought that Taylor's motivation was hackneyed and contrived, and I was disappointed by the lack of character development. All in all, my impression of the novel was that it was not better than one of the romance novels from Harlequin or Silhouette (and indeed, some of these novels have much better plots than in "The Rescue"). I did not find it to be a fulfilling read and felt that if it were not for the novelty of a male author writing in a genre typically reserved for women, then this novel would not have received any attention at all and would have made it into the slush pile. However, I plan on trying out another of his novels in the hopes that he has greater works out there.

Summary: Another romantic page-turner with an adventurous touch
Review: If you like previous releases *Message in a Bottle" and *A Bend in the Road*, you would have fallen into this one as well. Consistent with all his novels, Nicholas Sparks conveys the message of the greatest commitment of all: to love someone forever. Volunteer fireman Taylor McAden is driven to horrendous and heroic risks to save lives. When he set out to search for Denise's 7-year-old son Kyle, Taylor never imagined that the encounter with the mother and son would force him to deal with fear, bitterness, and the troubled past in his heart. This resuce requires Taylor to open doors to his past slammed shout by pain. Will Taylor be able to overcome this pain with the help of Denise? Sparks has introduced and developed characters fully as well as their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Sparks' writing is stirring once again. You'll be deeply moved at the part where Taylor found Kyle after the car accident. Sparks stirs our heart-strings again! Good read. 4.5 stars.

Summary: Chris's Review
Review: With no family behind her, Denise Holden is a single mother working late night shifts as a waitress making just enough money to support herself and her son. To make her life even more difficult, her son Kyle suffers from a speech delay that she guides him through. Being his only role-model Denise makes enough money and brings their lives to a new home in Edenton, North Carolina.

Little did Denise know, the small town of Edenton would be throwing a life-threatening challenge in her way. News spread of a horrific storm coming straight towards the town. Not to give away all Spark's secrets, Denise crashes her car in the raging storm and Kyle disappears. In a panic, Denise can't find him anywhere and it's all up to Taylor McAddon, a volunteer fireman, who comes just at the right time to rescue Denise and Kyle from the one-car accident. Taylor's intentions were not just to rescue Kyle from the storm, but to get involved with Denise and learn more about her. Taylor has been known to help many woman in their lives through their struggles, but he never falls in love. He never lets himself fall in love. But Denise brings different meaning to his life.

In Taylor's past he went through the pain from his father's tragic death years before meeting Denise. Not used to being helped, rather than the helper, Taylor is taught some valuable life lessons by Denise. It's a play on words of who's rescued in the end of the story. Not only was Kyle rescued as a young child from the storm, but Taylor is rescued by Denise from his haunting past memories.

For all Nicholas Spark's fans, The Rescue is another one of his suspencful love stories for you to throw yourself into. If you've read another of his other works and enjoyed it, I suggest you read this book you will fall into it.

Summary: Emotional but the dialogue is too repetitive
Review: I am a Nicholas Sparks fan, I loved all his earlier books, especially the Notebook and Message in a bottle.. I would recommend The Rescue to those readers who have not read his earlier books because then they will be slightly disappointed in this book... but by all means read Nicholas Sparks books they are inspirational..

Summary: A man wrote this - I can't believe it
Review: I picked this book off the "bargin/sale" table due to the description on the book sleeve. I took it with me on a business trip, and frankly I could not believe that a man wrote this book. I, too, felt the characters come alive, and the tears kept rolling for pretty much the last half of the book. I will definately be picking up another of Sparks books, and not even off the "bargin/sale" table either.

Summary: The Rescue, Check it out!
Review: The book,The Rescue, by Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite books. The Rescue focuses on a tragedy turned romance. This book is unlike any other Nicholas Sparks book. The Rescue is about a woman who has a terrible accident and the story goes on telling the tale as the woman and her young son watch their life unravel. The Rscue follows the young mother through the hurdles she had to jump and the mazes that she had to go through to get through her lfe and pay the bills. The single mother shares her stuggles with her slightly disabled son. If you have read any of the other Nicholas Sparks books, you'll love the romantic elements in this book.
