Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This is the first Nicholas Sparks book that I've read and it was so amazing and I can't wait to read another one of his books. The book had many twists and turns that really helped you to appreciate the life you lead. I didn't really like the Epilogue becuase .... I would give the ending away. so if your reading for an interesting love story that will make you cry, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Another romantic page-turner with an adventurous touch Review: If you like previous releases *Message in a Bottle" and *A Bend in the Road*, you would have fallen into this one as well. Consistent with all his novels, Nicholas Sparks conveys the message of the greatest commitment of all: to love someone forever. Volunteer fireman Taylor McAden is driven to horrendous and heroic risks to save lives. When he set out to search for Denise's 7-year-old son Kyle, Taylor never imagined that the encounter with the mother and son would force him to deal with fear, bitterness, and the troubled past in his heart. This resuce requires Taylor to open doors to his past slammed shout by pain. Will Taylor be able to overcome this pain with the help of Denise? Sparks has introduced and developed characters fully as well as their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Sparks' writing is stirring once again. You'll be deeply moved at the part where Taylor found Kyle after the car accident. Sparks stirs our heart-strings again! Good read. 4.5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Just a warm evening read, nothing exciting. Review: I loved the movie "Message in a Bottle" but didn't read the book. I purchased and read "A Walk to Remember" and it was okay. My girlfriend ordered "The Resue" from her book club, and she loaned it to me. I read half of it on Friday afternoon, then finished it Saturday night before going to bed. I would have to say that Sparks did do his homework when he wrote about the speech problems of the little boy, Kyle. It's always good to know that a writer does his reseach well. I kept reading the book until it was finished because I wanted to see what Taylor McAden's problem was. I think I almost had it all figured out from the start, but I never second guess the plot of a writer's novel. I read it through and then make up my mind about the story. I've read better books than "The Rescue", but I have read a lot worse. I think Sparks is talented and I will probably read his next novel. One thing we don't have to second guess about Sparks, he's writing his novels himself and not spitting out ten or twelve novels a year, like some authors claim to be doing.
Rating: Summary: A must-read!! Review: This novel by Nicholas Sparks is breath-takingly genuine. It has everything that a good book needs; it will make you smile, laugh, and cry page after page, and it will keep you hooked till the very end.
I couldn't put it down... not for a second! I was totally engulfed in its amazing and tauntingly realistic story line.
I loved this book, along with the rest of Nicholas Sparks' novels. And I'm hoping that it will make it to the big screen sometime in the near future as did "A Walk To Remember", "The Notebook", and "Message In A Bottle".
Rating: Summary: This was a pretty good book Review: This book was pretty good, however compared to hi other books The Notebook and A Walk to Remember i expected a little more. However this book adds just as much emotion as the other books that i have read by him. Nicolas Sparks brings unreal situations to life. The way he depicts a single mother's life with an abnormal child very well for a man who does not live that life. At times however the story got a little slow but otherwise it is still a very good story written by a good author. After reading his other books however i expected more from Nicolas Sparks.
Rating: Summary: Another Sparks Love Story Review: While driving in heavy rain storm, Denise Holton, a single mother, crashes her car on the edge of a swamp. She wakes up to find that her little boy Kyle is missing. A volunteer firefighter Taylor McAden rescues her and leads the search for the missing child. Our hero finds Kyle and this leads the child to bond to Taylor. The two soon fall in love, but our hero has a flaw that does not allow him to maintain a lasting, loving relationship.
THE RESCUE is a well written love story that revolves around the three main individuals. We have our flawed hero dealing with his demons, a mother who has devoted her life to her son and a child with a learning disorder. The character's are developed and believable. You will find it to be a fast read as well as you get caught up in the story. If you liked Sparks' other books, then this one is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Is Love Worth the Risk? Review: This was a wonderfully written novel, as are all of Mr. Sparks works. He is the master of character development. All of his characters are easy to love, and even when they do wrong, because Mr. Sparks has let the reader get to know them so wel, it is hard to pass judgement.
Taylor is a volunteer fireman, and Denise is a young single mother of a speech delayed son who works the night shift at the local diner. A terrible accident leads to the dissaperance of Denise's son and leads the arrival of Taylor in Denise's life. The biggest question to both Denise and Taylor as their relationship blooms is "is love worth the risk?" Denise doesn't want to put her of her son's heart on the line, and Taylor is afraid of making a commitment he may not be able to keep. All of these decissions must be made amid countless other trials that pop up for both Denise and Taylor along the way.
This book was a hard one for me to put down. It was supurbly written, and a very endearing tale. It is sure to please.
Rating: Summary: love can always be rescued.Bravo! Review: I've always like Nicholas Sparks' novels, for they were always about eternal romance, often bringing about topics about love that we'll never do in real life, perhaps.
In THE RESCUE,the story goes on about a single mother,Denise. She's portrayed as a beautiful and intelligent woman, who sometimes felt bundled by her little son,Kyle. Her son, unlike most ordinary children, has speech difficulties and problems communicating with others. So much so that Denise never felt much happiness in life, and perhaps, lose the desire to be in love.
It just so happened that she was in an accident on one fine rainy season, and she realised Kyle was lost.So frantic and panic was her,a rescue team was called upon to look for her son.Her son was thankfully found,by a man, whom, like Denise, lost the fleeting desire to be in love.Taylor was scarred by his father's death, and has never grown to further much in a relationship apart from the usual dates. He thought he was destined to be alone, much to the amazement of his friends. It was just when Denise relocated to the particular town where he is residing, that he realised he is attracted to the former.
Like any love story, their love deepens.Kyle was also particularly fond of Taylor, and everybody agrees to them going steady. However,it was also at this moment of time when Denise starts to get curious about Taylor's family affairs and start probing, and Taylor began too feel insecure like in his previous relationships. The climax of the story:can they overcome all odds to remain togather? Can Denise help Taylor overcome his father's death? Are their love tremendously deep,so deep that nothing, not even a close friend's death, can separate them?
This is one good romance novel to read.Though it focuses on the second love affair which both protagonists received,Sparks is also smart to add in other factors like a close friend's death,a tuberlent past as well as Denise and Taylor reminscing the past.A little bit of humour in the story also helps to spice up the plot.I may be a teenager, but i think this is one very good novel. It is something, perhaps to encourage many others, especially one who lost his spouse,to know that in this vast world out there, there is another special One waiting for you.Who knows, you may just find your Denise or Taylor soon after?
Rating: Summary: Nicholas Sparks creates heros out of ordinary people Review: I love the way that Nicholoas Sparks creates heros out of ordinary people. It makes you feel like your own life is significant. His characters are always well developed, as in The Rescue. Without going into the storyline, which you can read the publisher's review, The Rescue will make you cry, and your heart will ache for these "real" people. It is a must read. Marjorie Spoto, Author, When It Rains.
Rating: Summary: Not the love story I was hoping for Review: When I picked this book to read, I hadn't heard much about it or read any reviews. I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks and I was hoping that this book would be a love story. What I found was a story with a lot of drama in it and only a small love story. It was a little slow in the beginning. I was about halfway through the book and the relationship between the two main characters still wasn't very developed. Don't get me wrong, it was still an enjoyable read(and a tear-jerker!). It just wasn't the love story I was looking for.
