Rating: Summary: Sparks didn't disappoint Review: This is an incredibly romantic book and there is enough suspense there to keep you reading ~~ even though it is predictable in some places. If you are looking for a lighter read, pick this one up. It is amusing and fun to read. No one is perfect in this book, but the love is nearly perfect between Denise and Taylor. Kyle, Denise's son, is a fascinating character even with his disabilities. It makes you wish your own child was just as well-behaved.It is a refreshing read ~~ a real pageturner. Enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Nicholas Sparks hits gold again! Review: This is another great book by Nicholas Sparks. I enjoyed this book greatly and could not put it down after I started to read it. Nicholas Sparks constantly keeps you on your toes and wanting more. With his mixture of love and drama into this one book you find yourself wanting to know more about the characters even after the book has ended. He lets you fall in love with the relationship between mother and son. I highly recommend this book and am sure that you will love it as much as I have.
Rating: Summary: A Little Better Than Average Review: "The Rescue" is about a girl, Denise Holton, who lives a tough life with her son Kyle when she meets Tayler McAden, a brave, but confused man. Their relationship begins as a chance meeting on a very stormy night. Tayler comes to Denise's aid that night by taking care of her, but more importantly by finding her lost son. After one or two more chance meetings, they both finally admit to themselves that their feelings for each other are more than just victim and savior. They begin to see each other regularly and, sure enough, their feelings for one another grow more intense slowly and subtly. Eventually, they become very close. However, just as things are going well enough, Tayler gets spooked and begins to pull away. In the process, he hurts not only Denise, but also little Kyle. To Denise, it is the latter that she sees as an unforgivable act. But, that's not all... All along Denise's life has been an open book. She has come clean about her past and present situations to Tayler. Tayler, however, has continually held back one part of his life. He has done this all his life with his friends, his mother, and his past girlfriends. Tayler may have saved Denise in the beginning of the story, but by the end, it is his love for her and her forgiveness that saves him from the demons that have held him back and haunted him since his childhood. If I could've, I'd really give the book a 3.5. The plot is scarcely there. The action parts of the book are well written especially one part that takes place on a bridge. It was those action sections and the end when Taylor's real story comes out that give the book that extra .5 to make it a little better than average. The other parts of the book are enjoyable enough, but move the book along slowly and without much story behind it.
Rating: Summary: A Nice Story. Review: My first read by Nicholas Sparks, though I had seen the movie Message in a Bottle. It was nicely written, plot line easy to follow. A quick read, with the predictable ending....unlike Message in a Bottle. Storyline brings two people together in a time of crisis, and the relationship that develops between them there after, making them wonder if they ever would have gotten to know each other if the emergency hadn't brought them together. Believe in fate? This book might help.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story, but missing a realistic touch. Review: I have read every one of Nicholas Sparks's books. Each one has had the power to grip me emotionally like no other book. This book did reach me on an emotional level but not as the other books did. It just seemed to be lacking something. The story line holds your interest. A lonely mother of a challenged child finds love in one of the most unexpected places. But fate gives her a man with a difficult past, which may lead to the end of their whole relationship. She must struggle to let this man into her and her vulnerable son's life and he must learn to overcome tragedies of the past and present. It is a wonderful story about how love can overcome all when put to the test. Like most of Spark's books it leaves you wondering what happens after the book ends. You want more details than he gives you so it leaves you longing for more. This is not one of Sparks's strongest books. It does not compare to; "The Notebook", "A Walk to Remember" or "Message in a Bottle." These three books touch you in a way this book lacks. His other books are bitter sweet while "The Rescue" is just to good to be true. "The Rescue" is missing Sparks's realistic touch.
Rating: Summary: What a beautiful story! Review: I have read all of Sparks' novels and this is by far my favorite. I could not read it fast enough and could hardly put it down. The emotions were so pure and it had such a beautiful ending. A must read for anyone, but make sure you have a good supply of kleenex before you start.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Story! Review: I am a thirteen-year-old from California-8th Grade, and I have read all of his books except for A Message in a Bottle. They are outstanding, but this is the best of all! The story is sad, but in the end turns out to be wonderful. The story of these few people touches the lives of many in their town. Read this story and you will understand some hardships that a family of two must go through.
Rating: Summary: Sparks best book yet! Review: I love Nicholas Sparks' work, but The Rescue was by far the best. It had all the romantic qualities you'd expect with an ending you wouldn't expect from him. This book was fantastic!
Rating: Summary: A book that you will not want to put down until you finished Review: This book was one of the best so far by Nicholas Sparks. I've read all of his books so far and absolutely loved The Rescue. It is a book that you will not want to put down until you have finished reading it and then will want to read it again. I loved the characters and the story. It's a "feel good" book. I can't wait for the next book that Nicholas Sparks will write. I have recommended this book to several friends already!!
Rating: Summary: A book that doesn't leave you. Review: I finished reading The Rescue in two days. I stayed up way past midnight reading one night because I didn't want to put it down. It's been a couple of days now, and I am still thinking about the characters. Nicholas Sparks has an excellent writing style that really allows you to enter the lives of the characters he creates. Easy reading, once you start, you won't stop until your finished.
