Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: Ever since I read this book in high school, it has been one of my favorites of all times. It is a book that is deep and personal in so many ways as it explores the lives of the Trueba family. This book is moving and has the same effect than Gabriel Garcia Marquez' One hundred years of Solitude. This is a great book and deserves the praises it has received. Isabel Allende is a gifted author, her other titles are just as good.

Summary: Absolutely beautiful
Review: Wow, the only thing I can say is that this novel is beautiful. Allende plays with the characters of the Trueba family, in which consist of a very sexist family and women who can talk with dead people and all that stuff. She explains a great part of the history of her native Chile with the magic she posses in her words. It is too similar to "One-Hundred Years of Solitude" ("100 AƱos de Soledad"), which IS a better novel, but still interesting(La Casa de los Espiritus). The only problem I find with Allende's writting is that every novel looks like another famous one (just like Afrodita which is compared to a book written by the same author of "Like water for chocolate"). Although she has lack of creativity in her writings (or lack in innovative styles) she deserves to be in the list of best selling authors. She's got it all. She is a profesional.

Summary: My favorite book
Review: I really recomend this book. It is very well written, and gives an idea of how different people lived what hapened in Chile. I enjoyed very much.

Summary: An enchanting and extremely magical story!
Review: After reading "The House of the Spirits" by Isabel Allende, I was physically and mentally moved by her extaordinary sense of feeling that compelled me to read it again. I couldn't put the book down; and honestly, I felt as if I were part of their interesting and magical family and its generations. Clara the Clairvoyant is an amazing character that draws you closer and closer waiting for what extraordinary thing she is going to do next. I am going to purchase the Hardcover copy of this book to keep forever, because it is by far the BEST BEST BEST book I have ever read. Isabel Allende should be proud of herself for having the capability to write something so close to the heart. To be realistic, words can't even describe the intensity of this novel. Recommend it to men and women of all ages, I guarantee they'll end up loving it!

Summary: The most vivid descriptions I have ever read
Review: I read House of the Spirits for the first time in 1990 for AP English. The beautiful descriptions allowed me to see, feel, touch, smell and taste the story. That, to me, is what makes it so beautiful. The plot itself is enthralling, as the story of the Trueba family unfolds. I have read this book four times and I continue to love the pictures it paints in my imagination. This is a definite must-read. It is my all-time favorite book!

Summary: My Favorite Book
Review: I loved this book! The characters are heartbreaking and the writing is beautiful. I couldn't put it down! I've read everything she's published since and never been disappointed (well maybe a little with the Infinite Plan). Please read this book but don't watch the movie, I cried for 20 minutes after it ended because it completely ruined the story.

Summary: Don't read this book
Review: This book was not only the most disgusting book I have ever read, but also the most plot less uninteresting story. Any issues this story displays can be found in many much better books.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent Reading
Review: The daunting effort of reading books for school was put to an end when I read House of the Spirits. It is a terrific book, that can appeal to those both young and old. Usually a reader of mostly crime and investigative novels, I found Isabelle Allende to be a great and powerful writer, and I have used her as an inspiration to continue and further my own writing skills. House of the Spirits, spans across four generations and is much better than the movie, and it is amazing how a story of political hardship could also involve a love story. Isabelle Allende was able to show me the harshness of the political revolt and in complete contrast, the magic and surrealism that can happen throughout the worst of times.

Summary: Kicked-booty
Review: This is the best book I've ever read, and I suggest it to everyone. I fell in love with the characters and was enchanted by the book as a whole. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not too shabby
Review: The use of magic realisms in this book make the book long and sometimes boring but it does make the story roll along and makes it intrested. Allende uses examples of Barrabas the magical dog the size of a horse and Rosa with her beautiful hair makes the book harder but more enjoyable. Not for everyone.
