Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: After reading a review in PEOPLE magazine, I picked this book up in an airport bookstore. I simply could not put it down!! I think the author did an excellent job of changing personalities depending on whether Clare or Henry was speaking. The time travel keeps you guessing and the romance keeps you hooked while the combination of the two keeps you holding your breathe with anticipation. I would suggest this book to anyone who loves to read and has a hard time finding a book they can get in to. THIS IS IT!!!!

Summary: COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN
Review: I did not want this book to end. It is the story of Henry, the time traveler and his wife, Clare and many other wonderful characters. Henry meets his future wife through his involuntary travels back in time starting when she is six.(Although, he does at times end up in the future)
It is a romance but, it is not mushy; it is science fiction, but not technological. There is somewhat of a coming of age element to it but, it keeps going far past that. I loved it.

Summary: Loved it!!!!
Review: I loved, loved, loved this book!!! It was an incredibly touching love story with a plot like nothing I have ever read before- I finished reading it 2 weeks ago and have not been able to stop thinking about it since!!! I can't wait for Audrey Niffenegger's next book!

Summary: ignore the critics -- it's an incredible read
Review: I'm tired today because I stayed up so late last night, finishing this remarkable book. The homes of most readers are littered with half-finished novels that failed to capture their interest; books they hope they'll get around to finishing "someday." "The Time Traveler's Wife" is nothing like those books. It's the kind of novel you search for in bookstores and libraries, the kind of story that pushes your real life to the margins of your awareness because you're so caught up in the the world on the page. As a writer, I understand how hard it can be to make readers care about a story. As a reader, I feel awe and gratitude to Audrey Niffenegger for having the courage to write such an unusual book, in such a graceful way. No plot? Give me a break! This book drives you from one page to the next, one time-travel journey to another. You are constantly wondering what will happen next, how the protagonists will react to the bizarre reality of their lives, how they will extricate themselves from the awful consequences of time travel. The supporting characters supply important elements: conflict, competition, and danger, and they allow the author to raise issues of secrecy, fidelity, loyalty. The book is littered with surprises, and comes to a satisfying conclusion. In short, I disagree with nearly every criticism I've read, and would like to remind Ms. Niffenegger, should she read this, that she should not put much store in the opinion of a critic who can't spell "sophomoric." Chances are that critic is still a freshman.

Summary: Really Excellent
Review: I just really loved this book. It was very difficult to put it down and once it was finished I felt sad that I woudl never have the opportunity to read it again for the first time. Wonderful.

Summary: The Screenwriter comments.
Review: I am the screenwriter chosen to adapt the book into the oft-mentioned film. Obviously, I found it a unique, rich and heart-warming story, with substantial potential for a film with similar attributes. It is not an easy book to adapt, and there are times I felt a review of quantum mechanics and the physics of relativity might be very helpful in keeping it all straight, but I pledge to be faithful to those things all the reviewers above found fulfilling, elements I believe are there in abdundance.

Summary: A really nice and enjoyable read
Review: I picked up this book from my local library after being interested in the Time Travel aspect of the book peaked my curiosity. I found it to be much more than I expected. I really began to care a lot about the characters and how they accomodate Henry's time travel 'disorder'.

It is a heart-felt love story, compromises - but mostly on how to appreciate the small things and times spent with a loved one.

Definitely a unique idea in a book.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: I checked this book out from the library yesterday and finished it about one o'clock this morning. I could not put it down and go to sleep.
The Time Traveler's Wife is an excellent read. It has great characters and a great plot. I do not think the jumpimg around in the time the action takes place; in fact, I think it adds to the credibility of Henry's CDP and his time traveling experiences. Niffenegger writes of both humorous and sad times.
If you are still undecided about this book, just give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Summary: CAUTION: BEWARE OF THIS BOOK!
Review: Let me say, I was very excited to get my hands on this book. All the rave reviews had me believing it would be great reading! Well, I was very much mistaken. Niffenegger's style of writing is very sophmoric at best. She doesn't draw you in as a good author does. I didn't feel any interest in how the characters ended up. A truly great writer can take an idea (any idea), turn it into a novel and make you care. This never happened for me.

For example, Henry (the time traveler) would turn up in different times naked (in front of a six year old girl -- his future wife)! I thought this was extremely silly. The story went back and forth too many times to flow smoothly. At one point, an older version of Henry is with the child Henry!

If you want to read something worthwhile, check out Oprah's Book Club or try the classics. Read William Trevor for some really thought provoking, wonderfully written stories. Try Edith Wharton or Ruth Rendell.

I think the Today Show Book Club needs to be more discriminating in their taste...for the public's sake....please! They wasted my time.
