Rating: Summary: --Totally engaging from start to finish-- Review: THE SACRIFICE is the third story in the saga of Abram's Daughters.
I approached this book with great anticipation since I enjoyed THE COVENANT and THE BETRAYAL, the first and second books in this series. I wasn't disappointed. The author, Beverly Lewis, continued her saga of drama and wrote another terrific story about the Amish in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Life for the Ebersol family of Gobbler's Knob, continues as they adjust to the shunning of their oldest daughter Sadie. Leah, the second daughter, misses her sister, but still feels angry because she lost her boyfriend to Sadie. Eventually, Leah becomes involved with Gid Peachey and tries to love him, but in her heart no one can replace Jonas Mast, the love of her life. The twins Mary Ruth and Hannah start their own rumschpringe and begin dating.
Leah continues working on the farm, helping both her mother and father. When her mother becomes pregnant, Leah takes on the extra duty of caring for Lydiann, her youngest sister. Her mother's pregnancy is a tough one and Leah tries to do as much work as she can so that her mother can rest. The family of five daughters, are all hoping for a baby boy.
This author always has something unexpected waiting for the reader and like life itself, we never can guess what's going to happen next.
Rating: Summary: The Sacrifice Review: The Sacrifice was my favorite so far in the series. There was a lot of emotion to be felt and the author did a great job of keeping up suspense. I am looking forward to reading the final book in the series, The Prodigal.
Rating: Summary: Another great book by Beverly Lewis Review: The Sacrifice, Book 3 in the Abram's Daughters Series by Beverly Lewis, is a great book! As with all of Beverly Lewis' books I find myself never wanting to put them down. I can't wait to see what happens in Leah's life, and everyone else. I highly recommend this series.
Rating: Summary: Another wonderful book by Beverly Lewis Review: This book is a page turner! I had a hard time putting it down and wished it didn't end. The characters are so easy to relate too. Keep the Kleenex box handy! I can't wait until the third book comes out!Thank you Beverly Lewis!
Rating: Summary: Get ready for a roller coaster ride! Review: This book is full of more suprises than you can count! The third book of "Abram's daughters" is yet another well researched, well written book. The great tragedy they refer to in the synopsis is actually the second great tragedy to occur within it's pages, and both are so heart-wrenching it's advisable to keep a box of tissues nearby. I finished it in about 18 hours, and that includes a good nights sleep in there. I just couldn't wait to find out what happens next! I wonder which sacrifice the title refers to--it could be argued between two of them, one stemming from each tragedy mentioned before. I don't want to give away the plot, it is well worth reading, and far too good to be summed up in a few sentances. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for #4 The Prodigal to come out in October. Even its very title fills me with hope for a happy ending at long last for our "ever faithful Leah."

Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: This book was quite a let down. I loved the other two books in this series and was anticipating for The Sacrifice to come out. I bought the book and read it eagerly, but found it uninteresting, I felt like the author dragged the book out. I was very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: This is a great series. Review: This series has great characters, with highs & lows, twists & turns, and each of the books leave you anxiously awaiting the next one. You absolutely MUST read all these books in order to fully follow the interesting story lines and understand the characters better.
Rating: Summary: wonder-gut! Review: This was such an amazing book!Beverly Lewis writes another great one that really encompasses the Amish life correctly. I highly recommend it! Keep the tissues close though, there are some really heart wrenching things that go on and Leah will once again prove that she is ever so faithful to God and to her family. I can't wait to see what happens in book 4!!!!
Rating: Summary: The best one so far! Review: To date this one is my favorite! It may not have speed of the other novels, but makes up for it in the storyline about Leah's Mama. Finding out more about Leah's Mama (adoptive mother) and her relationship with Christ was facinating, and seeing the mother's strenght even through the battle of her life, was inspiring. Leah also comes into her own in this book, she takes on new rolls as mother and caregiver, and you can truely feel her joy and burden.
