Rating: Summary: Incredible. Review: What a simply amazing tale. For me it was about falling into that deep dark place that threatens anyone pre-disposed or otherwise to the fatal characteristics of depression and a coming of age again in a strange sort of way. It's very disturbing and very enlightening, and very difficult to review! I was thoughtful for days afterwards, thinking deep thoughts that would not have surfaced without the book. It's going to be a different personal experience for everyone I think. I read it in two hours; it's very short, but very long on meaning. I hope you find in this book that place in yourself that requires a little attention sometimes.
Rating: Summary: Haunting, but teens will love it. Review: © 2003 by Diana Guerrero Although a bit dark, this book will appeal to young adults that are going through the pains of adolescence. The main character suffers the loss of her family and the story is about how she moves through her grief and pulls through. Symbolism in the story included her acts of self-tatooing, her dreams, and her movement through her loss and grief as mirrored through the garden.
