Rating: Summary: It's a must read for Danielle Steele Fans Review: From the time I opened the cover i was in love with this story, it kept me spell bound, i just couldn't put it down. It is definitly a very emotional moving book. I just got caught up in the story myself. If you love Danielle Steel as much as i do you have to get it.
Rating: Summary: Best thing she's written in 5 years. Review: I've been reading Danielle Steel for 11 years now, reading everything in print. The last 5 years worth have been somewhat disappointing. I felt compelled to read The Ghost and couldn't put it down once I started! I didn't want the story to end. I loved Charlie, I found him to be a sweet man who just got dumped on. Gladys was his saving grace, by encouraging him to stay and loaning him her treasured chateau. This is the first book in many years that I felt the characters were feasible as real people. I've been trying to read another one of her books this week and have no desire to pick it up after having read 50 pages. The Ghost I will pick up, again and again.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read!! Review: I recieved this book for Christmas this past year, I started it and found I could not put it down! Danielle Steel does an excellent job transcending over generations. She has done stuff like that before, but, this time she told the story as it was happening, over both generations. This was one book that I wished would never end. I found that I wanted to know more. But even so, it was a excellent book. A must read for any person who enjoys a love story!
Rating: Summary: I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT . Review: THIS IS DEFINTLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES. THE END CAME TO SOON I WANTED IT TO GO ON AND ON!!
Rating: Summary: Like DADDY, told from man's perspective... Review: I've always enjoyed DS, but I thought this was a bit weaker than normal. There was a great story to be told about Sarah and Francios, but that alone would have made a good read. The book ends rather abruptly, too. Definitely not in the same league as previous gems WANDERLUST and THE RING. I do appreciate the occasional male lead in her books, though. For a better DS with a male lead, read DADDY.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK BROUGHT JOY AND PAIN TO MY LIFE Review: IN JUST TWO DAYS IT TOOK ME TO READ THIS BOOK, I FELT JOY, PAIN, HAPPINESS, AND SORROW. I JUST COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN, AND SOMEWHAT CONTRARY TO OTHER REVIEWS I HAVE READ I FEEL DANIELLE STEELES' USE OF HISTORY IN HER BOOKS IN SUCH DETAIL IS WHAT MAKES HER BOOKS SO VERY SPECIAL AND INTERESTING TO READ
Rating: Summary: very enlightening of how it was back then Review: it was very enligtening on how thing were done back then. I have been doing genealogy for a while and i envissioned that Sarah and Francois were my ancestors. I was sad when it ended as always the books end too soon.
Rating: Summary: Danielle Steel's "The Ghost" is spirited Review: Danielle Steel is not a great writer. Sometimes, her sentences are poorly structured and it is safe to assume that she will never win a Nobel Prize for literature. Danielle Steel, however, has an apitude for telling a story - infact, she is a talented storyteller. "The Ghost" proves, once again, that Ms. Steel can create a situation and keep it moving like a supersonic jet traveling through the air. Refreshingly, the main character is a man, Charles Waterston, a forty-one year old architect whose marriage is ending and who has just been relocated from London to New York. Discouraged by his job in New York he takes a leave of absence and decides to go skiing in Vermont to piece together his life and troubled marriage. Stranded by a snowstorm he comes across an inn where he becomes friendly with the owner. After explaining the turmoils of his life, the owner suggests his renting an old house of hers - a chateau which he accepts. It is here he meets the ghost, Sarah Ferguson, who once inhabited this house. Subsequently, Charlie finds her journals and now Sarah takes center stage. We learn about her life in the 1700's and the pain and eventual joy that she encounters. Through Sarah, Charlie re-evaluates his life, his goals and the journey his life must take. Danielle Steel creates a fast paced, well-moving story that keeps one turning the pages. There may be no astounding life messages in Danielle Steel's books but reading her stories is like a movie you can't stop watching. In this world, sometimes you need a novel that you can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Rating: Summary: This was one of Ms. Steel's better stories. Review: The Ghost was a typical Danielle Steel story about a sensitive thoughtful male who had been hurt by an equally sensitive thoughtful female, who just happened to fall in love with someone more sensitive. I enjoyed it because everyone communicated and there were no long drawn out "I can't tell him/her my story yet." I especially enjoyed Sarah's storyline, although I wish she'd had the opportunity to confront her husband. I thought Charlie and Francois's story was a little sketchy and needed more depth. Not bad though for Ms. Steel. Some of her books are a little hard to read. This one was easy.
