Rating: Summary: Entertaining, though improbable... Review: This is the first book I've read by Deborah Smith and while I agree that the plot was somewhat improbable, I was able to quickly suspend my disbelief and become caught up in the characters and situations so humorously and sympathetically portrayed. I have to admit, I'm a sucker for a quirky sense of humor and this book has some moments that made me smile and laugh out loud. Romance novels are a genre that can become bogged down in tired old plots and poorly constructed writing -- the good ones are those that can rise above the norm to provide the reader with a feeling of enjoyment and having been entertained. This book definitely succeeds at that!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down... Review: This is the first book of Deborah Smith's that I have read. I had heard some people saying that it wasn't very good, but I read it anyway and loved it. Smith leaves plenty of room for the reader to use his/her own imagination, I enjoy reading books that don't give every single little detail about every situation. Also,I love the way the characters are developed, you can tell it is fictional;it has a kind of fairytale feel to it, but there are real situations. I know everything doesn't fall into place so easily in life, but it's nice to read about the possibility.
Rating: Summary: A heartwarming and wacky read! Review: This is the first story by Deborah Smith that I have read, and at first the first person point of view took getting used to, but I quickly got involved and interested in the story. The characters in the book are well-developed and the remembrances of the past are easily woven into the story in such a way that they don't interfere with keeping the present-day story on track. It is also a great love story between Venus and Gib, as well as a great read with the very interesting Arinelli sisters and even more interesting characters in the Cameron family. Definitely an enjoyable reading/romance adventure.
Rating: Summary: another winner Review: This is the fourth Deborah Smith's book that I read and once again I struggled to put it down. I love her writing style, her interesting characters and unusual twists to the story, her detailed description of scenery, emotions and relationships. I'm already looking for more work from this author
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This was my first book by Deborah Smith and I loved it. I believed in the families and the characters. The story was beautifully told and the ending left me feeling happy and satisfied. Venus's journey through life believing in Gib and finally meeting up with him was the perfect thread that pulled everything together. I have now started A PLACE TO CALL HOME and I can tell Deborah Smith is becoming a new favorite author for me.
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down---and it was during finals week!!! Review: This was the first book I read by Deborah Smith, and I was so impressed! Venus was the perfect main character, because she was so wonderfully different. The entire cast of characters were amazing, and I loved the beautiful setting. If you have not read anything by Smith, I strongly recommend this book. It is so wonderful!!! You will not be able to put it down!!! Good Job, Deborah!!!
Rating: Summary: I really enjoyed this book Review: This was the first book that I had read by this author. I thought it was great! The characters and story line were so interesting that I just had to keep reading and I finished it in two days. I'm definitely buying her other books.
Rating: Summary: A Book to Devour Review: This was the second Deborah Smith book I've read and it certainly didn't disappoint me. I couldn't put it down! Her style of writing flows smoothly with wonderful but not overly done descriptions of the setting and more importantly, of the characters. You can't help but fall in love with Venus and her sister Ella and the quirky Cameron family.

Rating: Summary: Loved This book! Review: When Venus Fell is easily one of my favorite books, and I have been reading for a very long time. The characters in this book are quirky, odd, lovable but can be found in many and all families. The one real truth that resonated with me from this book is the passion Venus cared for her music. Anyone who has taken music seriously as a musician can totally relate to the intensity that music plays in her life. The give and take in the developing relationship between Gib and Venus is also wonderful to behold, and their capitulation to each other is one of the nicest love scenes in romance literature. This book is a keeper, and also a re-read time and again. Thank you.
