Summary: Men - Can't Live With Them . . .
Review: . . . Can't live without them. This read is a sequel about trust in a relationship. Unfortunately, I haven't read the first series yet and not sure if I want to. But I can say that I really enjoyed Files novel Child of God.

If you'd like to read books on family/church drama that is exciting and pageturning, sit on the edge of your seat excitment, then you should read LUST OF THE FLESH by Beverly Roylat and THE PREACHER'S SON by Carl Webber. LUST is a blockbuster, unforgettable dynamic novel and PREACHER is a unforgettable hit novel.

Summary: Coming full circle.
Review: Date Reviewed: January 16, 2004

Drama, drama, drama! Lolita Files pulls out all the stops with her
latest dramatic sizzler. She serves up some heartbreaking issues for
two of our favorite sistahs, Misty Fine and Teresa Snowden. On our last
visit, they were on the brink of major life changes. Misty was on her
honeymoon and Reesy was recently engaged and suspecting she was entering
motherhood. In TASTE LIKE CHICKEN, they are back in full force. The
wedding is in progress, Reesy is still in awe that she is getting married.
A sudden commotion disrupts the ceremony, and to the horror of everyone
attending, a picture of Dandre, in all of his naked glory, with multiple
partners is pulled from beneath each seat. To use a Reesy-ism, 'All hell
breaks loose'.

Tempers flare, Reesy flees the church, takes an ill-fated fall, and that
is only the beginning. One by one, like stacked dominoes, her beliefs
about life and her 'peeps' slowly topple. It seems like everybody has
something going on. Reesy can no longer fake the funk, she pushes an
apologetic Dandre to the back of her heart, packs her Roadster, and sets
her sights on Los Angeles and the big screen. While Misty is trying to
'be there' for Reesy, she uncovers a shocking revelation about Rick and
their marriage and Misty is contemplating her usual reaction; packing up
and leaving. For the first time in 25 years Misty and Reesy do not have
each other's back. But can one run from life forever? Ms. Files forces
them to face some hard truths about themselves and they are finally able
to do in full what they had only done in part; grow up.

Sexy, scandalous, unexpected, and unforgettable, TASTES LIKE CHICKEN
culminates Misty and Reesy's tumultuous journey. Ms. Files, with her
special flair still leaves some serious family drama hanging. Although
it is not required that you read the first two books, SCENES FROM A
SISTAH andGETTING to the GOOD PART, doing so will magnify your
appreciation of their story. This is a wonderful epilogue.

Summary: Chicken Lite
Review: I am a fan of the Misty Fine/Reesy Snowden books. Scenes From A Sistah was good. Getting To The Good Part was even better (I much prefer Reesy's character to Misty's). But Tastes Like Chicken was...eh. While I enjoyed reading about Reesy's impending marriage and Rick and Misty's post-honeymoon life, this book could have been so much more. There were so many plot twists, I had to step back and regroup (and how could Reesy NOT tell the difference between a puppy and a kitten? What was that all about?). As for the Misty/Rick twist...I'm still trying to adjust, it was that creepy. Sleazy was the best character in the book, sort of an urban Yoda. The interactions between Reesy and her feisty grandmother were always entertaining. There were a few unresolved storylines that were rather obvious in leaving the door wide open for a fourth Misty/Reesy book. Die-hard fans will purchase the book regardless. I'm glad that I checked this one out of the public library.

Summary: LOVE IT!!!!!
Review: I can never get enough of Misty and Reese. Execellent book!! I highly recommend the book. My question to the author is will there be another book to follow? It has to be!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Tastes Like Chicken with macaroni and cheese on the side!!!
Review: I didn't know what to expect when I borrowed this book from a friend, but it turned out to be a jewel. Reesy, formerly a dancer known are Peanut Butter the exotic dancer in a previous book by Ms. Files returns to us a woman about to be wed to the love of her life, Dandre until............. a drastic turn of events halts her dream wedding and sets off a series of life-changing events for her and and ever present friend, Misty Fine. Reesy and Misty find out in this book what love has to do with everything. Don't not pick this up expecting some sappy romance novel. This is a page-turner. Don't borrow it!! It needs to be in your howm library. I am about to purchase a copy now!!

Summary: Ready for the next one
Review: I enjoyed Taste like Chicken. I have read all of Ms Files books.
Some reviewers complained about being left hanging. I say come on with it. I am ready for the next saga of Reesy, Misty, Tyrone, and Tyrene. I even want to know more about the dogs. Yes there is always room for improvement, but that is with everything in life. Keep on writing and learning. Because I am going to keep on buying.

Summary: Seemed like Ms. Files was in a hurry
Review: I love black authors but sometimes we get a littel ahead of ourselves. I've just finished this book and I was very disappointed to say the least. It felt like this was a rushed book. Alot of loose ends were not tied up (possibly b/c there will be another book?). The book was a little unrealistic for my tastes. I know alot of black people and most of them do not have money just laid up somewhere. It seemed like Ms Files wanted to make a fairy tale, romantic, fairy tale but was in a hurry to make the release date. I'm awfully glad that I did not pay full price for this book. Definately a good read for all you insomniacs or 3rd shift workers but not a neccessity to your library.

Summary: Great Novel
Review: I love Reesy and Misty. I have read the other novels regarding them and feel like I am growing with them. I think Lolita's writing is off the hook. EVERY book she has written is engaging, well developed and funny. I do believe that Tyrone and Tyrene will be the main characters of the next sequel which I can't wait to get. Ms. Files definitely has writing skills and I look forward to more. However, her best book, which is in my top 5 of ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS BY ANY AUTHOR is Child of God!

Summary: Disappointment
Review: I was very disappointed in "Tastes like Chicken." When I saw it in the bookstore I didn't even think twice once I saw who had written it. I have read all of Ms. Files books and was looking forward to continuing the saga of Reesy Snowden and Misty Fine. I felt that the story line was rushed and silly. Ms. Files left a lot of loose ends possibly because there will be a fourth installment to this book. In my opinion she could have closed the saga of these two women and made this the last book. Faithful readers like myself will purchase the next chapter of Reesy and Misty's ups and downs because we hope that the continuing saga will be better than its previous chapter. I would suggest that you wait until this book comes in paperback or borrow it from a friend.

Summary: Did not connect with this one!
Review: I'm a big fan of Ms. Files and have read and enjoyed all of her previous novels. However, in "Tastes Like Chicken", I couldn't connect with the characters. The storyline was somewhat silly.
