I FELT LIKE I WAS WITH JACK AND HIS FAMILY THE WHOLE TIME.THIS IS MY FIRST DELINSKY BOOK, IF THE OTHERS ARE HALF AS GOOD I'LL BE A FAN FOR LIFE. I'VE READ WHERE OTHERS WOULD LIKE TO READ A FOLLOW UP BOOK ABOUT THE MCGILL FAMILY. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT HAPPEN.DELINSKY IS A TRUE ARTIST IN MORE WAYS THEN ONE.
Rating: Summary: captivating from beginning to end . Review: Were this an artist's palette, the colours would be warm, cool, vibrant and bursting with beauty-- much like life. I was right there and loved every minute of it. The visual and tactile stimuli were so very real! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Rating: Summary: A Beautifully Told Story Review: Barbara Delinsky paints a beautiful story, weaving together complicated human emotions and serene nature settings. Great read - wanted it to go on for a few hundred more pages. My first Delinsky, but not my last.
Rating: Summary: Human, sensitive, touching Review: I absolutely loved this book. It is the first Barbara Delinsky book I have read and I must say it was the best book I have read in a while. I was there every minute of the way with Jack and his girls. Ms. Delinsky actually puts you there in the Big Sur routing for Jack -- and I didn't want to leave. There wasn't one word of the book that was a chore to read and was sorry to see it end.
Rating: Summary: One of her best! Review: This is one of the best Delinsky books I've read. I found myself so caught up in the lives of the characters that I was unable to put the book down until I had finished -- and then I didn't want to be finished!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic writing without the unnecessary "fluff". Review: Clear and concise writing. What a great book with Jack coming back to his senses and realizing what is important in life. Mainly...family. This is the first of Barbara Delinsky's books I have read and was most pleased with it. I can't wait to read another of hers!
Rating: Summary: Hated for it to end!! Review: I have read several Barbara Delinsky books. I just loved this one and wish there was a follow up. You felt like you were living with and thru them. I just finished the book and had to come online and post.
Rating: Summary: Heavy subject can make a delightful read Review: First Delinsky & I will read more of her. If she isn't a painter, she had the intuitiveness to be. Certainly brought the smells, views, sounds, feels of Big Sur to me.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful depth in characters; heartily recommend Review: This book is written in an unusual style that was remarkably well done. You are brought to love one of the main characters through others who love her, while she sleeps.I often skip over descriptive paragraphs, but not in Coast Road. I found myself wanting to be there, breathing the Big Sur air, hearing the rustling of leaves, holding each of the beloved characters. An endearing book.
Rating: Summary: Sensitive, wonderful story line Review: I am a mystery fan usually, but saw this one and picked it up hooked from the first page. Counldn't believe how she could weave such a wonderful tale, encompassing so many different personalities and make it work. Great writing
