Rating: Summary: Whew.... Review: Whew...I am so glad that "Irresistible Forces" was a fluke, and not the way of more to come from Danielle Steel. "The Wedding" was an enjoyable escape from every day life and a fun read. I have found that Danielle Steel's books fall into two categories...books with a realistic subject (such as "The Ring", "Message From Nam", "Full Circle") and books like "The Wedding" (and "The Ranch", "A Perfect Stranger"...) that are good ol' fun reads. I have enjoyed both of her styles of writing until "IR". Thankfully she is back on track again.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Story!! Review: Danielle Steel is wonderful with her books. I have enjoyed them all and look forward to more. You have to be a true romantic person to fully appreciate her books.
Rating: Summary: Dreams... Review: "The Wedding", by Danielle Steel, is a story of a woman named Allegra Steinberg who has a long history of finding men with commitment problem. She is an entertainment lawyer in California representing a lot of Hollywood's "big names".Her life is knee deep in all the entanglements that come from the entertainment business; tabloids, calls during all hours, and hard-to-deal-with clients. She soon meets a man named Jeff Hamilton and her life takes a big turn-around. She soon finds herself in a relationship with a man who IS capable of love and commitment. Allegra finds herself planning her wedding, dealing with the big business of show business, having to deal with family issues, and she has to deal with her own personal demons. Allegra is finally getting married and her dreams are coming true, assuming she can survive her life long enough to make it to the wedding. This was a good book, all in all. I think that some of D.S.'s other books captivated me much more ("The Ghost", "The Gift") but the characters were nice and it was enjoyable to experience the story. The only aspect about the book I wish were different is that it was a little too long. The whole story seemed to drag a little. It seemed like D.S. was trying to make us feel every little detail of her life as if we actually lived it. It made the reader feel as if he/she was with Allegra every step of the way, the problem is - in today's world, who has the time to read a 576 page (in paperback) book filled with more detail and other issues than what's really needed. I still enjoyed this book, it was a nice story and I like all of the D.S. books I've read so far, but this was just a little long for my taste. It was nice, but long.
Rating: Summary: The Wedding Review: WHERE IS THE EDITOR????? Does anyone actually edit DS's books anymore? Or do they just become best sellers automatically because of the writer's name? Does anyone else notice how often the word "and" is used and that the sentences just run on and on and on? Also the books, while I realize they are fiction, should be checked for accuracy. You don't become an American citizen by marrying one. That practice was stopped way back in the 50's. Check the facts Ms. Steele before having your books published!
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: Typical Danielle Steele, enthralling, great story line with a bit of mystery. One her best since "Long Road Home".
Rating: Summary: danielle steel pulls out all the stops Review: I selected The Wedding for my book club choice for the month of September.I was hesitant because some of the members had expressed that Danielle Steel is not one of their favorites.I read some of the reviews and decided this would be my selection anyway. It was a good choice. After starting to read,I could not put the book done and completed it in two days. I truly enjoyed the book and can't wait to discuss it. I was also glad that no major character met his or her death as has been know to happen and that basically there was a happy ending. I am now working on questions to lead the discussion and if there is anyone out there who can assist me it will be greatly appreciated.
Rating: Summary: A Definite Improvement Review: I love The Wedding. It was very very good. A lot of surprises and fun and full of suspense. It was a welcome change from Irrestible Forces which was a terrible book.
Rating: Summary: Danielle Steel is Back at her Best! Review: I am a big Danielle Steel fan and buy her hardback books as soon as they come out. However, I have been very disappointed in the last 3 or 4 books as they were not very interesting. I had decided not to buy "The Wedding" but read reviews on Amazon.com which said that it was great, like the old Danielle Steel writing, so I bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then went out and bought "The House on Hope Street" which I am halfway through and thoroughly enjoying. She's back at her best, and I'm so happy!
Rating: Summary: A "Nice" book for summer reading. Review: I too, was pleased with Danielle Steels "come back" from her earlier "bombs". I agree that it was slow in the beginning, but once you get into it, it flows along beautifully. I wonder though if all "beautiful" people feel they don't deserve any better than they get. Brandon was a jerk! Why didn't she see that. Why did she feel she was worthy of "scraps"?
Rating: Summary: Dime Store Trash Review: I've been called a literary "snob" for my reading selections (Hemingway, Irving, Faulkner); So I figured I'd give this romance writer a shot before spouting off. Forget it. I've seen better writing on bathroom walls. What a shame Steele makes all the money while the real artists, artists who would die to write "one true sentence ", who would die to keep civilization healthy, starve. Michael Fischer
