Rating: Summary: predictable yet intriguing Review: It's the first book i've ever read of mrs Steel's and I think I will read others when I need to escape from bare reality and dream that sometimes and somewhere life has a hidden path which leads the good ones to justice and happiness...
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER ENJOYABLE READ FROM MS. STEEL Review: As an author with my debut novel in its initial release, I genuinely admire how Ms. Steel consistently writes books that are thoroughly enjoyable to read. THE WEDDING tells the tale of Hollywood lawyer Allegra Steinberg who finally begins to focus her attentions on her own life. The novel tells of fame, fashion, and passion among the entertainment world's elite. We all know what to expect from a Danielle Steel novel. THE WEDDING is no exception. It's a fine read from a fine writer.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This is the first book of Danielle Steel's I have ever read, and I loved it. Some parts you can figure out right away, but there are some twists you don't.
Rating: Summary: She has done better than this Review: After reading other reviews of this book, I agree with the majority of the people when they say that her standards are dropping. I did enjoy the book, but there was a sense of prediction whilst reading it - something that Danilelle Steele has rarely allowed in the past. I hope that we can soon read a book that will make us feel that we have read a true Danielle Steel book
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly surprised Review: I am not a big fan of Danielle Steel, but decided to borrow this book from a friend and read it. Although the beginning starts out very slow - there were times where I just wanted to set the book down and never pick it back up - I decided to continue reading and found that the storyline picks up. Well, when the story picks up, I couldn't put it down. Even though it was very slow and hard to get into at the beginning, once I finally got through to where the story picks up, it made for some enjoyable reading.
Rating: Summary: A Good Old-Fashioned Story... Lovely.... Review: This is the first novel by Danielle Steel that I have enjoyed immensely... I have been reading her books since I was fifteen... I am now 21, and this one has sealed me forever as a fervent fan...Allegra reminds me so much of myself.... A failing relationship with a man who did not love her (Brandon)... The discovery of one who really loved her(Jeff)... And the difference it can make in one's life...(Commitment). I love the way Ms. Steel's plot goes... A horrible past(With her father)... But the courage to forgive and open up to love even after so many years (25)... The book is so realistic, far from the situations of war etc. that she has written about so vividly in other novels... This situation applies more to my own personal life... Maybe this is why it has meant so much to me... I enjoyed other characters in this novel like Carmen (Typical movie star)... And Blaire and Simon (Allegra's parents)... And even a touch of homosexuality (Jessie), which proves it has some modern-day stuff in there.... Keep writing Danielle..!!
Rating: Summary: Blissful, and Kissfull Review: This in my FAVORITE Danielle Steele book. It is much better than her last one. My favorite part is when they made love.
Rating: Summary: Puuuhhhhleeeeaaase Review: My cousin, half jokingly, gave me this book and suggested that I read it because I am getting married. I had just finished another, so I thought I would dive in. I am apalled by the quality of writing of this book and I cannot believe that people actually read this .... Let's start with the writing: Ms. Steel's style is cliche implying a laziness in her efforts to entertain a reading audience. I am reminded of kids in my high school who used vapid and juvenile descriptions in their writing. That is fine for kids whose skills are in other areas than writing, yet I expect more from someone who is filling up shelves in bookstores. Also, Ms. Steel repeats herself incessently, using the same description, word for word, in the same or following paragraph. At times she even contradicted herself. An example: in one scene a girl is visiting a lawyer who is asking her some tough questions, the girl got upset. "She pressed a little too hard and Sam snapped at her." 3 Short paragraph's later, "Suzanne never pushed her." I think the copy editor was taking pain medication while reading this one. The character descriptions are not human. They are more like a pre-teenagers view of the world before experiencing and understanding the beautiful nuances of people. Ms. Steel puts her characters into nice little, predictable boxes, lacking any subtle personality irrationalities that makes us human beings so interesting. Alright, if anyone is reading this, and I am sorry if you are because this review is more for my benefit than intended to waste anyone's time, you may be wondering why I kept reading this trash. The story is mildly entertaining, and it is a very fast read (because it elicits no introspection.) It just sort of happened. I think I was also mildly in awe that such a poor writer could sell so many books. Despite my fascination with that, I found myself figuring out the predictable plot chapters before the events unfolded. A supposedly intelligent lawyer, by Ms. Steel's lazy description, didn't demonstrate her intelligence. Actually, she was quite trite and stupid at times, confused about the look on someone's face, etc. After an argument towards the end of the book, a week or so before "The Wedding" she and her fiance had their first fight and she left in a huff. "Driving 80 mph," and for the first time in the book, I got very excited. I was anticipating that she might crash and die. I wouldn't have suspected that! I would have appreciated having some emotional response during this read. I am sorry if I have offended anyone, remember, this is just my opinion.
Rating: Summary: Not one of her best! Review: Story dragged! She is very repetitive-is she forgetting that we are actually reading the book? The story line was OK, but the writing was pretty bad. I don't think I will be reading any more Danielle Steele!
Rating: Summary: Better, but still below average Review: I think Ms. Steele should fire her editor. There are so many run-ons and inaccuracies it hurts to read it. Ms. Steele likes to repeat herself as well. We remember things the first time, so please quit using wasted space by repeating it. The story was better than her last few, but can we get off the all are beautiful, famous, wealthy, and highly educated quick. I was cracking up with some of the things Allegra did as an attorney, check your facts Ms. Steele, that's what a publicist or agent would do, not an attorney. The attorneys would be lucky to see their star clients face to face. I think I'll stick with Nora Roberts, Amanda Quick, and Iris Johansen from now on.
