Summary: Where's the Sequel?
Review: I like funny books about things I would love to do - but never had the courage...this book has it all. We have all had special girlfriends that we share our lives with and would do anything for them - if you are a woman - you will definitely relate to this book...it is about relationships - good, bad, and twisted.
I can't wait for the sequel...get busy Patrick Sanchez...
Funny...Funny...Funny

Summary: Great job.....
Review: I loved Girlfriends. I didn't start reading 'expecting' something. I let the novel speak for itself. Meeting each character was delightful. I found myself LOL! As I got closer to the end of the book,I began to feel like I was in the last days of a good vacation. I really didn't want it to end. Just for the record, I'm a 53 yr. old black, professional female and I don't think it's an age thing.

Summary: "Great Thrill Ride" is right!
Review: I loved, loved, loved this book!!! One of the reviews on the first page said it was "a great thrill ride of a book for all the girls," and that's exactly what it was. I gasped several times when the plot took some shocking (although outlandish) twists. The characters sort of reminded me of the gang on Seinfeld - a bunch of self absorbed screw balls who just kept messing up their lives. I can think of few books that have made me laugh more. The jacket says this is the author's first book - hard to believe (way to go Mr. Sanchez!)

Summary: Couldn't Stop Laughing
Review: I picked up this book because the cover was so eyecatching. I read the back cover and the first page and I crossed my fingers hoping it would be a winner. It definitely was. Cheryl, Linda, Gina, Peter and Shirley - definitely kept me laughing. You know we've all had evil thoughts about striking back at people in order to get even but through (Patrick)- thank you Patrick!) We now have new ideas!! This book will make you laugh and smile. It will make you take a good look at your own life and all the mistakes we've all made. I can't wait till his next novel! A definite MUST read.

Summary: it's all true!
Review: I rated this book as a five star work of art when it really should get a ten star rating. I admir Mr. Sanchez's view of three modern day working women going through all kinds of situations. I felt like I could really relate to some of the situation that happens to the 28-29 year old women. The book itself as a whole was very well written. It seems as if the book was someones life.
Most books are confussing and hard to follow, but this book flowed well from one instant to the other. The over view on the back of the book grabed me and held on to my attention. I'm not the average reader. This was the first book in 2 years that I have finished in four days and that is very good for me. I also like the fact that the words weren't printed to small and the words didn't make me fell like I needed a dictionary every five seconds.
All the characters is this book have uniquely different personalities and situations. So that tells me that Mr.sanchez has a whole lot of deminsion and vivid levels of intensity. That makes a good writer and I hope that Mr. Sanchez continues to produce such wonderful books.

Summary: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Review: I read this book while on vacation in the Carribean and thought it would be the perfect book to read while laying out by the pool. . . I was wrong. I spent mot of the time with a confused look on my face thinking, "Gosh, these women have weird points of view."The characters are constantly re-introduced and it's like, Hello! We got it after the first scene that the main character's mother was more of the child in their relationship- WE GET IT- do you really need to keep spelling it out EVERY time the mother comes in to the story? And then the character said something about being absolutely TERRIFIED of being alone. I could NOT believe that the type of character she was would EVER admit such a thing and wish her friends relationships would fail. That is actually not like US at all. And then the answer came to me. The book was written by A MAN. Yes, I know I should have realized by looking at the front, but I was too distracted by the orange to notice. He would be a good writer if he wrote what he knew, and clearly, he does NOT know WOMEN. Pass on this one, if you'r actually caring enough to read up on it's review. Try Loose Screws, that was a good read.

Summary: Book of the Year!!
Review: I was browsing through the bookstore one day and the cover of this book caught my eye!! I read the back cover and the book sounded like so much fun!!!! I had to read it!! I am ever glad that I stumbled over this book!! Reading Girlfriends will make you feel part of their world...as they cope with "jobs, sex, and the city!" It will make you laugh out loud and is so realistic in an "on the verge of thirty" way - some of you gals will know what I mean! This crazy and hilarious novel will give you an escape from your own hectic life and career as you read about the exploits of a bunch of guy & gal friends! I found myself getting up early in the morning before work to read it AND bringing it to work to read on my lunchbreaks!!

This is the first work of Patrick Sanchez - he lists his website and email addy in the book - how nice! I even wrote to him to tell him what a fine job he has done. I can't wait to read his next novel!

Have some fun and read this book!!

Summary: Blah, blah, blah
Review: If this is Sanchez's first novel then I'll give him credit for that. If not then there's no excuse. This book was horrible, terrible. No plot, no dialouge nothing to keep my interest. I found myself skimming through paragraphs and paragraphs just trying to finish the book. This is garbage please do not waste your money. At best, you may want to buy the audio book if you have some extra money.

Summary: Looking for the hook that never happened
Review: It is seldom that I bother to write a review for a book that I don't have at least one positive thing to say about it. However, I could not help but to add my two cents in light of the fact that there seemed to be an overwhelmingly large faction of people who enjoyed GIRLFRIENDS. Maybe it is an age thing. I'm thirty-something and maybe, just maybe, this book was not written with me in mind. Maybe it is a patience thing. I had lost all of mine by the time I got to the chapter entitled "Cheep wine, Lucy, and sex," and believe me, that wasn't too far into the book. But I think the main thing is that even though I believe this author has a genuinely funny sense of humor, (okay, I did say something positive) he perhaps took on more than he could handle in this book. I'm not saying a man can't write about women. There are plenty of good examples of male authors who have truly captured the true essence of womanhood and done it in a way that is humorous yet doesn't in any way demean or dismiss how multi-faceted and multi-dimensional women can be.

But in the case of GIRLFRIENDS, I felt over-inundated with cliches and stereotypes. The jokes seemed to be too predictable and I finished the book only because that is just me...I hate to NOT finish something that I start. I think Mr. Sanchez has the capability to develop his humor and his writing into something that will reach a wide range of audiences. (okay, another positive) I just hope that he will take the time and expend the energy to do so.
