Rating: Summary: Fake Doesn't Begin to Describe this Book. Review: From the blurb on the back of this book, I thought it had potential. Perpetually single Kate always seems to fall for the wrong guy, namely guys who "play for the other team." When she falls for a hunkie Aussie, only to find out he prefers her friend George, she swears off relationships and decides she's just going to sleep around and the little matter of her green card marriage isn't going to stop her from going on a trampage.Everything about this book was terrible, particularly the characters. Kate felt the need to inform the readers of her disgusting habits and her mission to "sleep around" just makes her look like some pathetic [prostitute] with low self-esteem. Her best friend is a self-absorbed career woman who settles on the brilliant plan to catch and marry a sleazy geriatric so she can eventually be a rich widow. The use of British slang was so thick it was sometimes difficult to understand what was going on. The overall tone of the book is more depressing than light and frothy and the style is amateurish. Everyone and everything in this book feels false and manufactured. Romance novels are supposed to leave you with a happy feeling at the end. By the last page, I felt dirty--and not in a good way.
Rating: Summary: Not my favorite Review: Honestly I just couldn't get that interested in it. I haven't finished it and I doubt I will
Rating: Summary: Silly, not always believeable, but fun. Review: I bought this not knowing it was by a British author. It's funny, and the author has a strong voice and wicked (and sometimes rather gross) sense of humor. It's a fun read and a nice dark look into self-indulgent London society, However, I think it needs an editor---there are some plot holes and inconsistencies that are a bit jarring in places. But not a bad read.

Rating: Summary: Marginal story with almost offensive language Review: I picked up this book in an airport while on a long, unexpected layover, looking for a fun escape. The author supplemented the very typical chick-lit formula with incredibly crude sexual references. Perhaps it's just my American prudishness, but when telling a friend I'm busy at work, I seldom say things like "I'm tied to the fax machine by my tampon string". I ended up leaving the book on the plane for the next unwitting sucker. If you are going to purchase chick-lit, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Dissapointing. Review: I thought this would be a good book, but it was a big dissapointment. It was easy enough to get through, but it was a pain. Katie was quite pathetic and the language was just plain horrible. I do not mind some language in a book, but this was just way over the top. Brits are not as crude as the people in this book. Try a differant book instead.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time Review: I'm a fast reader so I usually read books in 24 hrs to 3 days. This book took me 2 weeks. It was so slow, the characters were annoying and self centered. I had to force myself to finish it last night. The ending was not good at all. This book was not what I expected and I was extremely disappointed.

Rating: Summary: A great read Review: I'm not sure what those readers who described this as 'disappointing' were expecting from this book, but I wonder if any of them have any sense of humor. I found this a great read. The bad language was tongue in cheek (gettit?) and the great sarcastic wit reminded me of the many Brits I met on my travels around the globe. Brilliant. Different. And so, so funny. If you aren't a prude and you want to read about someone a bit different from all those sugary chicks who whine about men then you should buy this book now.
Rating: Summary: Fans will enjoy this solid chick lit tale Review: In London Katie Simpson is positive that her boyfriend Jake Carpenter is her Mr. Right until she finds him making love with Fishpants Fraser. Irate, Katie vows to play by the BLAB rule when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex2 for from now on she will behave like a bloke. At work, Katie is the envy of the female zoo as the only male Aussie hunk The David goes out drinking with her. However, at his flat, she learns that the David is gay and more suited for her pal George. When David needs to marry to stay in England, he and George hit on Katie who agrees since she plans to be a spinster anyway, but draws the line on bearing a child for the gay couple. However as her wedding day comes closer, her childhood friend Sam becomes fixed in her heart, but he still sees her as a pain in the butt sister or does he? Though Katie is too opinionated (her analysis of the hens at work is amusing, but nasty), fans will enjoy this solid chick lit tale as love comes from an unlikely source. The story line contains five likable protagonists, but it is clearly Katie who serves as the focus of the plot. Adding to the feel of friendship that is a key element is that Gays are treated with respect receiving the same pounding as the straight players receive. Fans will appreciate this London swings tale.
