Summary: Loved it!!
Review: This was such a great story, I can't say enough good things about it. The author makes these characters seem so real. I hated to see it end. Probably one of the best books I have ever read. I also recommend The First Time by Joy Fielding. Can't wait for the next one!

Summary: Best Novel of the 00's
Review: How can one improve on a vacation in Santa Barbara, California? By reading Grand Avenue next to the swimming pool. As a 47-year-old bookaholic since the age of 4, Grand Avenue makes my top-10 list of fiction books. No doubt about it. Never a dull moment. The author has you fully absorbed in one character and moves you onto the next. The disappointment you initially feel by having to leave one character doesn't last more than another page because you find yourself absorbed again - and again. You won't find yourself skipping sentences and paragraphs in order to avoid boring, insignificant detail because there isn't a boring, insignificant paragraph in the entire book. The characters and the story line will hold you through the last page. The true disappointment comes when you've read the last page, knowing that this is going to be a very hard act to follow. Fortunately, I discovered one of Joy Fielding's books that I'd missed - 'The First Time'. (Another great read.) Now, comes the search for a new book that can even come close.

Summary: Holds you till the last page!
Review: I loved this book. It was easy to get into the story and just kept building. I wish I could give it more stars then 5. I don't post reviews often at all but Joy's book deserved this and more.

Summary: Full of twists and suprises!
Review: This is the first book that I have read from this author, and it won't be the last. I was looking for a quick one setting read and picked it up at the library. I was suprised to find that this has become one of my favorite books. A book about true friendship and the ways in which people can be best friends yet be so different. We see the views of all four characters in the book and feel as if we know them. A book that was full of laughs and tears with an unexpected mystery toward the end. I suggest this book to anyone who wants a good summer read about women and friendships.

You'll be guessing to the last page..............I just had to get to the bottom of the circumstances surrounding the events gone wrong in this well written romance novel turned thriller. It's hard to say anymore because I do not want to give anything away in this book. Just enjoy.......I gave it a well deserved five stars...

Summary: A Great Read
Review: I started this book on a plane from Dallas to Los Angeles and continued reading to it's conclusion on a 15 1/2 hour flight to Melbourne--it was a great plane book ! I ran the gamut of emotions from terrible anger at an abusive husband, sympathy at some of the womens problems and joy at their closeness .It's an easy to read book, nicely written by a female who obviously enjoys a good relationship with other women. Don't want to give any of the plot away by going into details !

Summary: Writing At It's Best!
Review: I am so grateful to the folks in my book club for recommending this book! From the opening page I couldn't put this book aside.

I was immediately drawn into the lives of Chris, Vicki, Barbara and Susan, four women who touched me deeply. How could such wonderful lives go so terribly wrong? The ensuing story of love and friendship mixed with mystery and tragedy kept me on the edge of my seat.

If you've never read a Joy Fielding book, I'd recommend you start here. Bravo!!

Summary: Grand Beach Read~
Review: If I could, I would have given Grand Avenue 3.5 stars. It is a page turner, and left me eager to see how the story line would all play out, though I felt it somewhat fizzled out in the end.

Grand Avenue is the setting for four women, the Grand Dames, each unique in personality and appearance. Meeting in the park near their home with their young daughters, the women become fast friends and confidents. The stage is set in the first chapter, as the reader is immediately warned that two of the friends will die, one a horrible death, and that one will turn out not to be a friend at all, a betrayor.

Grand Avenue was an entertaining, page-turner that left me anxious for the conclusion and kept me guessing with lots of twists and turns. Aside from the pure entertainment factor, the story also takes a look at the why's behind a person's personality, the insecurities, dreams and hopes. This novel would be a great read for a day at the beach, or to take along on a vacation.
