Rating: Summary: Thought she was talking to me.... Review: I absolutely loved this book because of how well I related to the story. I think alot of young black girls who yearn for love but instead end up pregnant are looking for what Michael has struggled through. Her story, yes while sometimes a bit melodramatic, is one that I have personally experienced and many of my friends have gone through. While reading, I thought, "is Darnella Ford talking to me?" in the same way that a preacher's sermon might strike a chord with you.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book...excellent job Darnella Review: I bought Rising and Crave at the same time and decided to read Rising first. Boy I hated that book. When I finished I dreaded picking up Crave because I thought it would be a lot like Rising. I was dead wrong. Crave left me craving more. I could even relate to what Michael was struggling with. I mean she is a fictional character and took it a little over the top, but as over the top as Michael was we all know that she is a realistic character and she exists somewhere out there. If you enjoy drama, suspense and emotional roller coaster rides this book is definitely one that you would enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Wow! I could not put this down... Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Ford and seeing her perform several years ago at a writer's celebration. She was truly inspirational and I picked up her first novel, Rising.
Crave? I read this book in 2 days. Just could not put it down. You know a book is good when you find yourself marking sections that stand out. The writing is absolutely poetic and powerful. Some passages were haunting, piercing and Ms. Ford writes in such a way the reader feels as if she is speaking directly to him/her.
Everyone has experienced craving at some point in life. Michael was a character that carried such sadness in her, and her search for love is filled with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. Ford pulls her readers into a world where you find yourself praying for brighter days with each turn of page.
The theme is certainly universal. Wanting love and the things some people will do (good and bad) to try and capture it. I highly recommend CRAVE. Just be prepared to be up because I guarantee once you get into it, this book won't be easy to put down. Continued success to you, Ms. Ford and I look forward to your next book.
Peace*blessings.
CLB.
Rating: Summary: Just Sad Review: I know when you jump from men to men and have sexual encounters with each and everyone of them, that is a sickness. I think its more than just the pleasure of sex. Michael Morgan has had her share of this kind of sickness. Michael feels that she is looking for the love that her father stopped showing her once he became an alcoholic.
Michael became obsessed with a man named Eddie. Eddie told her all the things she wanted to hear to have sex with her. Michael wanted him to love her but he was not feeling her in that way. After sex with her got old that's when the drama was released. I felt so bad for her reading the things that she did to get Eddie to fall for her; I just wanted to jump in the book and slap the hell out of her.
The ending of the book was the ultimate climax. What happened really got Michael to open up and recognize her wrongs and weaknesses. I wasn't too crazy about the ending but the book still deserved 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Very Different But Very Well Written Review: I love this book. Darnella Ford has a very different way of writing. At first I didnt think I would like it but after I got through the first 3 pages or so I sunk deeper into it. If you like poetry you will love this!
Rating: Summary: Crave, are you bold enough to read it? Review: I thought Crave was an excellent read. I read it on one day. It was poetic, insightful and entertaining. It allowed me to see my emotions, full-range, in black and white. I related to the book's main character so much it was scary! As a single woman, I understood the main character's desire to love and be loved. I fully understood how she "craved" love. I love when a book makes me want to laugh and cry all in one read. I recommend it to any person who has loved, lost love or is seeking love....
Rating: Summary: Crave Review: Michael Morgan is easy to relate to for all us young single women. You can identify with at least one issue or another that she is having with her relationships. Even when you don't exactly appreciate some of her actions-she is still very likeable. The book captivated me in the first chapter and keep me going. Enjoyed it immensely! Finished it in less than a week!
Rating: Summary: Cant Stop Craving!! Review: Thats what it boils down to. Craving what you dont have aka the grass is always greener. i found it interesting to read this very well written piece of literary work detailing the innermost thoughts of a womans heart, which we all know carries more than our share of secrets. i wanted to advise Michael because it was clear when she was about to bang her head up against a wall, she fell in love with the concept of being in love so much that she allowed alot of men to enter her life, had she been thinking with her brain and not her cravings, she would not have let enter her world. we watch her enter into relationships doomed from the word go and react to rejection so typically of what we are used to. she sunk and i mean she sank but the moral of the story is that we as women do crave but we must do so with great caution so as not to cheapen ourselves or create these kinds of emotional scars which can be passed on through generations.

Rating: Summary: Thought she was talking to me.... Review: This book is excellent summer reading. Michael is a woman looking for love in all the wrong places. It never occurred to her until the very end that she had to begin with herself to find true love.
