Rating: Summary: Read Jane's dates! Review: Jane Gregg is tired of seeing all the people around her in happy relationships, while she is a single work-a-holic. Hey, who can blame her? So, she makes up a story that she has a wonderful, rich, boyfriend to bring to her cousin Dana's wedding! Now, her family, cannot wait to meet him and Jane is in quite a pickle! She has one of her close friends set her up on a series of blind dates from hell just so she can find Mr. Right NOW! I really enjoyed this book, Jane has a way of getting herself in some really funny situations, that will have you laughing out loud. I know I was! This girl has to deal with her sex addict next door neighbor who has a penchant for opera, a beautiful socialite from her middle school days, quitting her one pack a day smoking habit even though she really doesn't want to, and her hunk of a boss, that she has had a crush on forever, getting engaged! Let me just say you will feel Jane's pain and her pride in this book. Give it a try. I think any woman who picks this book up will be glad they did!
Rating: Summary: Any single 20something will love this book! Review: This novel is a super quick read. Like most of the chick lit of our time, you'll pull for the heroine, Jane, as she floats through one bad date after another and also attempts to get a promotion at work. The fact that Jane's high school nemesis is her stepping stone to the promotion makes it all the more fun. I highly recommend this book and have already leant it to my best friend.
Rating: Summary: A can't-put-it-down read! Review: Assistant Editor Jane Gregg can't seem to get it right. Her one and only serious relationship bit the big one five years ago. She's stuck in perennial assistant-ship. And her cousin's uber-wedding is taking place at the Plaza in two months - and Jane can't get a date.Throw in a handful of disastrous blind dates, a hot boss Jane can't keep her eyes off of, and a little bit of self-discovery, and you've got a fun, engaging read that won't disappoint. Melissa Senate delivers in this novel; it's money well spent.
Rating: Summary: great story! Review: I am not even finished reading this book and I just could not wait to review it! What a great story!! It reminds me of my single days. The issues Ms. Senate deals with as far as friends getting married (and she is still single), quitting smoking in the name of love, irritating family, are all written about so well! I love every second of this book and I am actually trying to read as slow as possible so it doesn't end! I am sure the ending will be as great as I expect it to be!
Rating: Summary: Nice try Review: You know...when I first read this story almost a year ago, I thought it was kind of cute and charming. Perhaps it was just the whole "idea" of the Red Dress Ink line and what they were offering. But even that has changed... Then, I revisited this story recently...it has been re-released for some reason. And I found Jane to be completely self-centered, unsympathetic and unrelatable. She's a poor man's "Big Fat Greek Wedding" attempt, only without all of the charming ethnicity. She's whiny and doesn't do much to help her own situations and I feel completely unsympathetic to her. She's not someone I'd want to be friends with or root for and by the end of the story, I keep chanting "who cares!" Interesting how a story changes for you over time. The author is a good writer and I hope to read something different, fresher, more original from her as I can see her writing talents, but this book just didn't do it for me.
Rating: Summary: liked it Review: Jane is so real and likable much more than those other Bridget Jones ... types in other books. You'll see Jane date, but not that much, see her dealing with her family, her peers, and even with a childhood enemy who she befriends. It could have been better written but I liked it. I could really relate to Jane and I don't understand all the negative reviews. Come on, you've got to admit that she's more real than those other Bridget Jones [types]. It was fun reading about a heroine that I could relate to. It's a light and fun read, take it with you to the beach!
Rating: Summary: I absolutely loved, loved, LOVED See Jane Date! Review: I picked this book up after a friend recomended another book to me and did a check on amazon to see what other books might be of interest to me. I came across the description of See Jane Date and wrote the title down on my list of books to read. When I finally picked up my own copy of the book. I had the hardest time putting it down to go to sleep at night. I've carried See Jane Date around with me all week. I highly recomend this book to all single women who are feeling a bit down and are begining to lose hope in finding "Mr. Right." I even recomend it to those who aren't having a hard time in the dating field. This book also reaches to those who had that one girl in high school who made you feel like you were worth nothing (and let's face is ladies! we've all been there).
Rating: Summary: Most Fun Book I've Read Review: "See Jane Date" was an awesome book that I would recommend to any single female who needs some uplifting comedy in their life. I was looking for a book to read during a snowstorm, and I found a novel that made me laugh hysterically and that I have read several times in the past year. It's a quick and easy read that I finished in a few hours. Melissa Senate is an entertaining writer who makes Jane Gregg's life as an editor in New York City very amusing. I related to it throughout the whole book, and its a great way to cheer up your own life!
Rating: Summary: Can we say letdown? Review: I wanted to read this book for so long, and was so dissappointed by the time I finished it. Jane is searching for the perfect man to bring to her perfect cousin's perfect wedding. She's doing this to keep her family from focusing on her single status. While the dates she goes on are funny, and the men she meet hilarious (anyone who still smokes after reading this doesn't have the troubles Jane encounters), her aunt annoyed me so much, it made it difficult to enjoy what would have been a great story otherwise. Jane's father died when she was young. Her mother died when she was in college, so her aunt and uncle and cousin became her family. Her aunt treats Jane horribly, bossing her around and critisizing her at every turn, making Jane feel guilty every time she tries to express how she feels. I'm sure the author didn't mean for it to be like this, and was going for the typical interfering relative bit, but she didn't pull it off. The family scene in the beauty parlor made me so mad I almost didn't finish the book. It's not a horrible story, but it's not one I willingly recommend. Re-read Bridget Jones instead.
Rating: Summary: Girlfriends, career, drinking, men, smoking, Girlfriends... Review: This was the best "Single girl looking for love and success" book I have read so far. I love the genre, but this is by far the best. The ending was excellent! To add to this read, I recently watched the made for tv ABC family movie based on this book. Stayed very true to the book and the lead actress, Charisma Carpenter fit very well in the role of Jane as did the actor who played Ethan. Nice Sunday afternoon snuggle up movie.
