Summary: Wonderful book!
Review: I loved The Solomon Sisters Wise Up by Melissa Senate and could not put the book down. The story, about three sisters, is very emotional and touching, yet very funny at the same time. I highly recommend this novel!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent women's fiction/chick lit
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up yesterday and couldn't put it down until it was done. I do disagree somewhat with a previous reviewer who described this as a "screwball" romp. While there are some humorous elements, this is actually one of the warmest and most realistic chick lit books I've seen so far. The only thing that threw me a bit at first was that the whole book is in first person, and yet there are three main characters, but once I got to know them, it didn't matter. All three stories were touching and enjoyable, and I found myself really rooting for the characters. I also found the subplot with father and his young wife interesting, and thought she did a great job of showing how these three girls get to know each other and discover that their father isn't exactly what they thought.

This is the kind of book to curl up with for the evening, and then loan to all your friends when you're done! I read her first one, See Jane Date, which was cute, but this one is much deeper and overall just much more fun.

Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: I saw the TV movie version of Melissa Senate's book SEE JANE DATE, and I loved it so much I bought the book. SEE JANE DATE was a really good, fun book about dating and the movie was great too (I love Charisma Carpenter who played Jane from Buffy and Angel.) THE SOLOMON SISTERS WISE UP is Melissa Senate's second book and i couldn't wait to get it. It's so good!! The story is about three sisters in their twenties and thirties who are having life issues (one is single and pregnant by her ex-boyfriend, one is married and catches her husband cheating, and one is a L.A. glam girl type called the Dating Diva who's like a dating coach, but her own love life is a mess.) The three sisters each have their own chapters and tell the story in their own points of view. You really get to know each sister and what's going on in her life and what each sister thinks about what's going on in her sister's lives. My favorite sister ended up being Ally, the married one, even though I'm more like Zoe's age (26). They end up moving into their father's apartment in New York City and sharing a bedroom, and they don't get along that well at first until they start to realize that despite their differences, they are family first, sisters first, and can count on each other more than anyone. The book was funny, really touching (I actually teared up a few times) and really satisfying. I didn't want it to end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes books about what it's like to want a relationship and get along with your family and suceed at work--everyone's life issues. Very funny, real-life, and well written book!

Summary: Lazy, lazy, lazy . . .
Review: in addition to trite, boring and airheaded. This book is in desperate need of a copy editor (or at the very least a spellchecker). It reads as if it was drafted in about 30 minutes. Did Ally get married on the beach with just a few people present, as the book states early on, or did she have a large, expensive wedding at the South Street Seaport, as it states later? There is no such thing as a 'prewar highrise'; that's a contradiction in terms. Carl Schurz Park (not Carl Shurz Park) is on the east side, not the west side. Where were the editors when this book was being published?

Summary: A good read
Review: Meet the Solomon sisters. They come together with a secret. Read how they share their private thoughts and learn that it's ok that family can see your faults. They lean on each other and through their support each learns important lessons about herself. This is a definitely a feel-good book for the summer. By the end, you'll find yourself hoping for the best for Sarah, Ally, and Zoe.

Summary: A good read
Review: Melissa Senate did a sensationl job with this story! I was compelled to keep reading, I couldn't put the book down and couldn't wait to see what the next chapter held. Having four sisters of my own, I grew to relate with all three sisters and it was wonderful how their relationships with one another developed throughout the story. They grew closer as sisters, became best friends and also helped change one another's lives. Thanks for a wonderful book Melissa!

Summary: Enjoyable look at three different women who "go home again"
Review: Melissa Senate does a great job of giving us three women at different points in their lives, yet all joined by the fact that they're sisters (even if one is just a half sister). I liked the three different voices, and even though it could have become confusing, Senate manages to make each character distinct enough that each sister stands on her own. This is a great story about "going home again" and growing up.

Summary: Times three
Review: Ok, the story is fairly good, but there is too much effort taken to tell it. Each chapter is by a different sister. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to keep up with who is speaking, but the effect doesn't seem worth the effort. It's a sweet story with a decent ending. The sisters become closer, in spite of their detached father and younger-than-all-of-them new stepmother. I give it 4 stars for story, but the switching between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person adds nothing, and slightly diminishes the storytelling.

Summary: Heartwarming characters!
Review: Senate's book is based on three sisters, Sarah, Ally and Zoe.

Right off the bat, Sarah discovers she's pregnant by a a new guy she's seeing, Ally finds out the hard way that her marriage isn't picture perfect like it looks, and Zoe is stuck flying across the country to stop her whacky mom from screwing up her dad and fiance's wedding plans. Basically, the Solomon Sisters have their hands full!

Each character has their own voice, which is great because I could view their experiences through each of their unique minds. I'd have to say Zoe was my fave, because I loved her detailed observations, but all sisters were completelly wonderful. This is a moving story about how life crises can bring sisters together.
