Rating: Summary: A Great book by Wendy Markham Review: "Slightly Settled" is the follow-up to Wendy Markahm's first Red Dress ink book "Slightly Single." This is a really great book. This books picks-up three months after the first book as Tracey is still looking for love in the big city. As usual, Ms. Markham delivers sassy characters, who each should get their own book. Quick dialogue that holds the readers interest and makes them wanting for more. This is a great book for any fan of "Chick-lit" and I hope in the future we get more of both Tracey and Wendy Markham.
Rating: Summary: Slightly Settled -- my sentiments exactly about RDI... Review: Before I begin, I'd like to give my takes on Red Dress Ink. This year's offerings have a "been there, done that" feel to them. Having read wonderful and memorable Red Dress Ink installments last year such as A Clean Slate, Losing It, Carrie Pilby, Diary of a Blues Goddess and My Life Uncovered (just to name a few), this year's books have thus far failed to impress me. I feel as though I'm reading the same book over and over again. Alas, the year has barely begun and I shall wait and see if things improve. To be on the safe side, however, I shall only pick up new RDI releases from my favorite authors (i.e., Erica Orloff, Melissa Senate, Lindsay Faith Rech and Lynda Curnyn) after I finish the RDI I'm currently reading called Fat Chance. Moving on to Slightly Settled. Slightly Settled, the sequel to Slightly Single, has its moments of wit and insight on being single. Despite her struggles in the first installment, which included losing weight and working on her relationship with the wayward Will, Tracey's life hasn't changed as much as she had thought. And so, further efforts to climb the corporate heap and find to true love in New York City are again in store for the frustrated heroine. The novel is a light, fun and entertaining chick-lit. Ms. Markham is a good writer. And readers who aren't bothered with the recycled plot will love this book. However, it just wasn't good enough for me.

Rating: Summary: Low expectations will be rewarded Review: Do some Americans lack an inner life? I would have fought you to the death on that one until I read 'Slightly Settled.' Tracey seems to think about little but losing weight, picking her dress for the party and snagging a boyfriend. Seeing her boss in his underwear in the hallway? We should all have such earthshaking crises. The book also had several typos and editing errors that reinforced the impression it was a write-to-order rush job. The dialogue is snappy, however, and Tracey gets a few good lines. With this kind of character, I guess it's a relief that no "big issues" were introduced. For fun, light reading, you can do a lot better, but at least no one gets an eating disorder or dies of AIDS.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever Review: I loved this book. It is the best book I ever read. The charecter Tracy is dating her bosses room mate, and I can smypathise with her all the way!
Rating: Summary: Adequate read, poor sequel Review: I read Slightly Single in 2001 and thought it was a pleasant read. I was excited to hear that the author had decided to continue the story of Tracey, a recently single woman. However, while the book was the light-hearted read I was looking for, I was annoyed at how indecisive Tracey is and the constant mention (even through the last page) of her ex-boyfriend, Will.
This book was not a good sequel to Slightly Single and I found myself utilimately dissapointed. As a light-hearted "beach read" this book fulfilled my needs on an adequate, but not excellent, level.
Rating: Summary: Better off single Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Wendy Markham's newest book Slightly Settled. Our main character is still looking for love in all the wrong places, including her office Christmas party. Markham has a wonderful way with her words and makes you really like her characters. While the plot was somewhat predictable, there were some seriously funny moments and some not so funny ones. Great, fun read.
