Rating: Summary: This bookencourages you to evuate your inner most desires. Review: What a majestic and thought-provoking story. I was moved to examine the fabric of my relationships with my family and friends. Penelope Keeling is a character that you long to be like. She enjoys life. This story is a gift to all readers.
Rating: Summary: The most inteligent aproach of common life I ever read!! Review: "The Shell Seekers"is one of my favourite books! I recommended it to everybody in my family and to all my friends. Rosamunde Pilcher knew how to hypnotise me. I wich I could congratulate her personaly and talk to her about her life and her books. She's really great!! I love her because she made me experience magic hours with her wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: I'm a very avid reader and I think this is the best book I've ever read -- OK, I admit it -- I've read it three times. "September" is good, "Coming Home" is good, but I think they both pale in comparison to "The Shell Seekers" and Penelope.I can't bring myself to rent the video. Angela Lansbury is alright, but I'm sorry...she just isn't my idea of Penelope.
Rating: Summary: Intriguing characters. Wonderful storyline. Review: The story held my attention as many characters were introduced. The storyline was interesting to follow. Several chapters made it difficult to put the book down at a reasonable hour. I could relate to the characters as people I have dealt with in real life. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants the afternoon to disappear!
Rating: Summary: this book is my all time favorite Review: I have read this book approx. six times and love it more each time. I'm finding it hard to find another book that will ever match up to it- even Rosamunde's other books, lovely as they are, will never be "the shell seekers". Such a captivating story, written so that you feel like you have found a friend in Penelope. Rosamunde couldn't have written this beautiful tale without a little of herself being in the character, so it's nice to know that a real live Penelope does exist. As you can probably gather - I would highly recommend this novel and any of her other books.
Rating: Summary: I feel I know Penelope, her emotions, her memories. Review: I was very deeply touched by the character of Penelope in "The Shell Seekers". Ms. Pilcher's portrait of this loving mother appeals universally to women, especially those with grown children. Penelope's grasp of the important things in life is a good lesson. I loved her.
Rating: Summary: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK Review: I HAVE READ THIS BOOK THREE TIMES, MAYBE FOUR AND KNOW I WILL READ IT MANY TIMES MORE. I HAVE A PEN-PAL IN ENGLAND AND I KEEP TELLING HER THAT HER LIFE SOUNDS LIKE PENELOPE'S IN THE SHELL SEEKERS. SHE IS EVEN TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE ONE PENELOPE MOVED INTO, CONSERVATORY AND ALL!
Rating: Summary: One of my-all time favorite books Review: A great story with believable characters. I'm re-reading it for what must be the fifth or sixth time. It's a love story but it's not maudlin; the good guys win without it being a cliche'; the dialogue is intelligent and humorous, and the settings are unforgettable. As well, the WWII history is fascinating. I feel the same way about her other novel, Coming Home.
Rating: Summary: Probably one of the best books ever!!! Review: This is a book that stays with you forever. It's like coming into a warm, embracing room after being out in the cold - comforting, nurturing. Rosamunde Pilcher is one of a kind. Her book the "World of Rosamunde Pilcher" is worth buying, for the simple reason that it helps her fans understand where she has obtained her inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Like Visiting Old friends Review: I can not believe it has been 10 years since I first read this novel. With nothing else to read, I went to the shelf and picked it up once more. It was if I were visiting with old friends. I had forgotten much of the story and was so glad to be swept up in the saga of Penelope Keeling and her family. Ms. Pilcher has spun a magical tale that still holds it's power a decade later, which proves that it is timeless. A terrific book to curl up with on a cold winters day.
