Rating: Summary: Typical cheesy romance novel you'd see in markets Review: After finishing Message in A Bottle, I thought I must have a heart of stone. I did not cry once. The story itself was unrealistic, the dialogue was stupid and cliched. It's disappointing really because I felt absolutely no connection between the two main characters, Theresa and Garret, other than lust and desperation to have a real relationship after being alone for such a long time. They are not cute as Sparks intended during moments of flirting (she slyly did this, she coyly smiled, etc)...it's not cute, disgusting to read, really. The only redeeming quality about this novel is Catherine. I could actually feel this longing and true love between Catherine and Garret. They truly loved each other and their love was real, which is probably why it was so hard for me to accept Theresa and Garret's love...yeah, I know that's exactly what the story is about, the moral - We can all move on. T & G's love showed Theresa that we can all move on. And people can, however much I don't believe in it. But Sparks just doesn't make it believable. The whole time I was semi-disgusted with Theresa. Why did she never tell Garret about the letters? Come on, now really...even if I were so bold as to do what she did, I would have told him about finding the letters sooner. Disgusting. Ugh. I was rooting for Catherine the whole time. And the only parts I enjoyed in the novel were Garret's flashback of him and Catherine. I have rambled for the most part, but this novel really didn't live up to what I expected.
Rating: Summary: One of Sparks' BEST! Review: This book is one of Sparks' most ROMANTIC ever, and MY favorite! This is the tale of finding true love twice, and having absolute faith. It is about a woman, who is divorced with a son and live with him in Boston. One day on vacation she stumles upon a bottle on the beach. She opens it and finds a beautiful love letter addressed to a "Catherine". Being that she is a reporter, she publishes it in the paper, touching many, MANY hearts of her readers. This intrigues her, so she tries to track down the author, not knowing that she will fall in love in the process, and learn a great deal about him and his life before her. . .
Rating: Summary: Dont Take Anything For Granted Review: After reading a number of Nicholas Sparks novels, I've come to expect to read a hopeless romantic love story. This book does not disappoint, however the ending has a surprising twist I did not expect- however once read- I am not surprised. Another great creation of endless love. This novel is a true testament of love, and a good lesion in not letting go of something wonderful that you have, or else it may be too late...
Rating: Summary: Another Love Story Review: I liked it, but not as much as some other Nicholas Sparks choices. I found it to be a little too wordy at times. Nevertheless, it still has the touching quality of his other works, and I still ended up in tears. I'd opt for "The Notebook" or "The Wedding" instead.

Author Bio: Nicholas Sparks was born in Omaha, Nebraska, December 31, 1965. His family moved about 4 times before finally settling down in Fair oaks, California. He had a true passion in running and with that he received a full track scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. After breaking the record for the 4x800 relay he was injured and couldn't finish the season. During this time home is mother told me he should write a book since he had nothing else to do. After about eight weeks he had created his first novel "The Passing" that was never published. He met his wife Catherine during their spring break, March 1988. He became a father of their first baby boy 1991 and to this day he now has five children. In 1989 he wrote his second novel "The Royal Murderers", which like the other one was never published. At which he decided to change his career. He had a number of short term jobs in real estate, waited tables, sold dental products by phone and finally began his own business, but failed and later became a pharmaceutical representative. In 1993 he was transferred to North Carolina where he currently lives. The following year he wrote his best-selling book "The Notebook."
Evaluation: "Message in a bottle" is about a woman named Theresa who lived in Boston. One morning while jogging along the beach she saw a glass bottle and decided to pick it up to her surprise she found a letter in it. So she decides to open it and read the letter. After reading the letter she was so amazed by how a man could write such a beautiful letter. She decides to go back to the house where she shows her friend Denise the letter. Denise is as well intrigued by the letter and tells Theresa that she should publish it in her column for the newspaper. After a few minutes of debating she decides to do so. After returning to Boston from her vacation she publishes it, she receives a few calls about the letter and comes to find that there are more letters. She gathers them all and Denise brings up the idea to look for this man and see what he is like. She takes a trip down to North Carolina where she meets Garret the writer of the letters. They hit it off and start going out together until the day comes where she has to go back home. They kept in contact and visited each other every chance they had. They fall in love with each other but, Garret is not completely over his deceased wife which jeopardizes his relationship with Theresa.
This has been another of my favorite books by Nicholas Sparks. He has written many love novels but this one has been great. It helps you to understand that there is a chance to love again even if you thought that you would only love once and that you should never hold yourself back from accepting and loving that person as well. It will only end up hurting you more and the other person.
Rating: Summary: message in a bottle review! Review: Message in a bottle is a love story with the consistent message of trust and strength.
The story starts out when Theresa Osborne, a divorced woman in her thirties, found a glass bottle on the beach with a message inside. When she opens the bottle and finds a letter, she is very interested in the writer. The letter that was in the bottle was a love letter from a man named Garrett to a woman named Catherine. Theresa and her Coworker Deanna began to research this man named Garrett with the clues they had taken from the letter. The two found out that there had been more letters written, as well as information about his life, his job, and where he lived. Theresa was too interested in this man, and had gone too long without some excitement, so she decided to take a vacation down to Wilmington Beach, North Carolina, where Garrett lived. When Theresa arrived in Wilmington Beach, she met Garrett at the docks of his boat, Happenstance. The two made a date to go sailing, which was the beginning of this love story. Right away, the two fell in love, and began to see each other every day. The two were inseparable and told eachother everything, however, there was one thing that the two were holding back. Theresa had not told Garrett of the letters she had found, in fear of him leaving her. Garrett had also not told her something, that he was still in love with his late wife, Catherine. When the two came clean about their secrets, there was fighting, and Garrett left. The day after the fight, Theresa went down to Wilmington Beach to try to patch things up between them. The two made up, but the next morning she told Garrett that she didn't think he was ready to have a long distance relationship and she said that she didn't think he was over his late wife, Catherine. He was very upset, but Theresa went back to Boston to move on with her life. Time passed, and Theresa hadn't talked to Garrett. A few weeks later, Theresa received a phone call from from Jeb Blake, Garrett's father. He asked her to come down to Wilmington Beach, because he needed to tell her some news. She went down to North Carolina and Jeb told her that Garrett had died in his boat, Happenstance. Theresa was torn apart and when she got back to Boston, there was a package waiting for her, from Garrett. The package had a letter from Garrett, confessing his undying love for Theresa. This novel is a story of timeless and everlasting love.

Rating: Summary: Love Again Review: Nicholas Sparks out does himself which this romance about falling in love again. When Theresa Osborne, a Boston Times parenting columnist is on a much-needed vacation, she comes across a message in a bottle that had washed up onto the sand. This love letter, she finds out later, was written by a man who had lost his wife and used writing as an escape for his hurt. After publishing the first letter in her column, two more letters arrive at her office. Intrigued, Theresa goes down to North Carolina to visit Garrett Blake, a diving instructor, little does she know that this trip would change the course of the rest of her life. Theresa was ready to move on from her previous marriage, that left her with the hurt of her husband's affair. Unfortunately, she finds Garrett is not moving on as quickly, the story ends with a twist that was unexpected and not understandable. This book leaves the reader feeling like anything is possible, even loving again.
Rating: Summary: A poignant love story Review: "Message in a bottle" is a sentimental love story. Theresa Osborne (a divorcee with a twelve year old son, Kevin) falls in love with Garrett (a widower) after reading his message of love in a bottle washed ashore. Though the feeling turns out to be mutual, Garrett is not able to forget his wife, Catherine. At one point, he seems to want both of them in his life.
Theresa is a independent woman with an air of confidence about her. She works as a columnist for Boston Times. She lives a very hectic life in downtown Boston. When she comes to Cape Cod to enjoy a break in her hectic life, she happens to read a message in a bottle washed ashore. From then on her life changes. She goes in search of the writer, finds him and falls in love. Just when things seem to look good, everything changes forever again.
Garrett lives a life, which is far from being hectic. He owns a scuba-diving shop in North Carolina and is also a diving instructor. He falls in love with Theresa but not completely at first and then when he makes a worthy decision, everything changes.
The highlights of this whole story are the messages in the bottles. They are quite sentimental. This story has a semblance to "The Rescue" in the type of relationship (between the main characters) but other aspects are different. Like his other books, this book also portrays the contemporary world and makes us feel right at home. The author's writing style is excellent. It aims at reaching the deepest feelings of a reader. Those who are fond of love stories that are soft and sweet will love this one. I was touched by it. The ending is what makes the story much more poignant. If you liked "Rescue" and "Walk to remember" you will certainly like this one.In short, if you are a Nicholas Sparks fan you will love it.
