Summary: The characters were difficult to care about
Review: A good love story needs a message and fully developed characters. I liked the message of this book (eternal love and growth), but I didnt' really care about the characters. Garrett was an out of touch, dependent idealist and I definitely did not like him. (Costner will do a good job with him, though.) Theresa was a bit more magnetic, but she's ultimately shallow. (And I really can't think of an actress who would make a good Theresa...well, OK, let's recreate Bull Durham and go with Susan Sarandon, though both of them are really too old for these parts.) I liked this easy love story...sped through the thing in a couple of days...with very little tension in the plot, except for a smattering of conflict toward the end...but by then you just wanted to get through it and move on to something else. END

Summary: Most moving book I've read in years
Review: I couldn't put this beautifully writen book down and was sorry when I ran out of pages to read. The development of the relationship between the characters brought back long-forgotten memories of falling in love. When I finished the book I had tears in my eyes, something that never happens (my husband was wondering what was wrong with me).

Summary: A "1" is too high of a rating for this book.
Review: Mundane. No fire. No sparks. (no pun intended) Boring dialog. Lacks meaningful description and feeling.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Too Sad
Review: I just couldn't take the sadness in this book. i loved the notebook so much. I had a hard time reading this latest book by N. Sparks. You can't give us a great romance and then throw it all away and the end. Just to depressing for me.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: How can you compare The Notebook??
Review: Message In a Bottle was a touching novel...It had its own personality, but it had the same beautiful "soul-mate/true love" touch that it had in The Notebook. It puts back hope in this hopeless romantic that true love does exist.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wondeful story of love and heartache!
Review: I found Message in a Bottle impossible to put down. It is not the same as the Notebook, but just as good! I read it on a plane and cried so hard the people around me kept whispering. I say READ IT!

Summary: Huge let down!
Review: After reading The Notebook, I was really looking forward to this one. I found the story and characters to be boring. The only part I really enjoyed was was the ending. I hope that if Mr. Sparks contiues to write the books get better.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A good read
Review: Dear Mr. Sparks, Do not become discouraged by the not so plesant remarks of some readers. I found the book to be very enjoyable. It reminded me of adventures in my life and brought back fond memories I'd almost forgotten. Just because some people have not been fortunate enough to have had an adventure (or two) doesn't mean they don't exist. Keep up the good work! lmilberg@hotmail.com

Summary: A book for anyone who likes romance
Review: I have read some of the reviews carried by Amazon.com and my comment is - give this book a break. It wasn't that bad. While I didn't Love it, I still enjoyed reading it. My romantic side would have liked a happy ending - but...

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Shallow, trite dialogue, no bang for the buck!
Review: I have never been more dissapointed with a second attempt. After indulging myself and emotions so thoroughly in The Notebook, I found this book as predictable as the fact that tomorrow will come after today. I could not put it down, however painful it was to see it to the end, always hoping that something of substance would happen. Nothing of any realistic substance ever did. After sending The Notebook to several of my friends, I will happily use this one for kindling.
