Rating: Summary: There is hope for true love and romance Review: Nicholas Sparks has a unique ability to put the rawest of human emotion into eloquent prose. Message in a Bottle is a story one can not put down. As the story unfolds, you find yourself being drawn deeper and deeper into the story. You begin to feel, and share, the emotions between Theresa and Garrett, as well as their internal conflicts. Sparks has presented the reader with a story that not only has you reaching for the Kleenex, but one that will have you searching your own soul. Is there such a thing as destiny ? Is it possible for two people to meet and instantly fall so deeply in love as Theresa and Garrett ? These are questions many of us don't want to ask ourselves, yet Sparks as given another great story in which you must look into yourself. Don't fool yourself into thinking messages in bottles don't exist ~ they do ! What would you do if you had found that message ? If you are not a romantic at heart, I doubt you will be able to believe that a love like Sparks has created can ever exist. But, if you have just the slightest believe in destiny or fate ~ you MUST read this story. It may inspire you to make some of the hardest decisions ever. So, get comfortable on the couch, with a glass of wine and a box of tissues close by ! And be prepared to be swept away. I very much look forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: one of the best books I have ever read Review: Nicholas has a way of writing, I first read The Notebook last year and when I saw that he had a new book out, I just couldn't wait to read it. The love story was just wonderful. I loved the people and the way things happened. The ending was especially shocking to me, I was expecting something else. I hope he continues to write. I will always buy his work. Keep up the good work Nicholas.
Rating: Summary: This lonely love story keeps you hoping for a miracle. Review: This is a great story to take to the beach where you can stop and look out to sea and think about all the messages waiting for other lovers to discover. As in his first novel, Sparks can tell a love story that will leave you thinking about it far longer than it will take you to finish the book. Loved it! Would recommend to anyone who likes to read a book in a day or two--won't take much longer.
Rating: Summary: "Like getting a delivery of flowers for your heart" Review: What a romance! What a beautiful heart it took to write " message in a bottle" on both the part of Sparks, and Garret, the lead character. Garret has the most beautifully descriptive way of sharing his feelings. You will fall in love with him from Chapter One and you won't be able to put this book down. Good job Sparks!!!
Rating: Summary: Loved it, loved it, loved it!! Review: Picked this book up at the library without knowing anything about it and thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Last night went back to the library to pick up his first book, The Notebook. It definitely hit all of my emotions. I was living vicariously through the characters. Refreshing to read a book which contained no foul language. Keep on writing, Mr. Sparks!!!
Rating: Summary: Nicholas Sparks? or Barbara Cartland? Review: Maybe I'm just jaded and bitter. Or maybe I read The Notebook when I was happy and in love. Either way, I was completely disappointed with Message in a Bottle. Too much boring detail (who cares what they were wearing, for God's sake) and too much sappy dialog. Is it impossible for two people to be in love in a normal way? Yes, people can learn to love again after losing the "love of their life" but usually it's a realistic relationship, not this storybook hoohah. I was ready for a relationship story, not an obvious attempt to jerk my heartstrings with a "two-hanky" romance. Mr. Sparks, write like you mean it, like you can. Don't pander to the folks who want goosh.
Rating: Summary: The neediest man I ever read about! Review: Nicholas Sparks only succeeded in disappointing me with "Message in a Bottle." The plot was contrived and the characters were repulsive! If Sparks was attempting to create romantic and sensitive characters, he failed miserably with Garrett Blake. This sorrowful, broken-hearted character is supposed to be sensitive, but ends up as a seriously needy lump of a man who can't mend his shredded heart. Theresa Osborne on the other hand, his second true love, is overconfident to the point of being cocky and downright rude. For lovers of Sparks' "The Notebook" his latest work will leave you feeling empty and cheated. It's neither romantic nor touching, it's simply a 300 page treatise on the pitfalls of codependency.
Rating: Summary: I thought the book invoked soul searching in myself Review: I enjoyed the book even though I felt a bit overwhelmed by the ending. The reason I enjoyed it is because I found myself asking if I was allowing myself true love. And even asking if I knew what true love is. Message In A Bottle made me realize that there can be true love and to make the most of it because you never know what may happen tomorrow.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and romantic Review: After reading Sparks last novel, I was unsure he could top it! He has!!! I was in love with Garret thoughout the entire book. I couldn't put the book down. For anyone who enjoys a nice romantic novel - THIS IS IT!!!
Rating: Summary: It was wonderfully written, it got to your heartstrings Review: Message in a Bottle, just like The Notebook was an outstanding book to read. After I started reading it I could not put it down. The way Sparks writes, it grabs your attention and does not let it go till you finish the book. All the time I was reading it I wanted to know if a romance was going to blossom. Again, I felt like Sparks did a wonderful job with his second book- I just can't say enough about it!
