Summary: If You Hang On, It's Great!
Review: This was the first book I've ever read from Nicholas Sparks. And he's an excellent author. I had a little trouble keeping up at first because he keeps going back-and-forth in time as he tells the story in this book, but it's worth sticking with it. I was completed wrapped up by about page 100. :) It's a great story about how we can find love -- if we'll only go after it.

Summary: Fairly Good
Review: This book reads just like a Danielle Steel novel. This is the first book I've read by Nicholas Sparks and for some reason I expected more depth. I probably should have read the book before I saw the movie! I enjoyed the movie much more. The book seemed very anti-climatic.

After saying all that, I should point out that I did enjoy the book and read it pretty quickly... it was an easy and pleasurable read. My expectations were probably too high is all.

I enjoyed the author's style enough to try another of his books and I would recommend this book if you enjoy love stories (even when they are sad and tortured) and especially if you are fond of Danielle Steel's books.

Summary: A BOOK YOU WON'T SOON FORGET!!
Review: After watching the movie, I could hardly wait to read this book. Though it had a heartbreaking ending, I love connecting to the characters when reading a book. While running on the beach, Catherine Osborne finds a letter closed in a bottle. She was very touched by the letter and knew she had to find the man that had written it. She printed the letter in the newspaper that she writes for. Because of the publication, two women sent letters they had found by the same man. She finds him and goes to North Carolina to get to know him. Garret's ever-changing feelings for Catherine and Theresa's and their perseverance to make the relationship work will touch you. I found this book hard to get over and I still relate to it today and begin to cry whenever I tell someone the story.

Summary: Romantic, Poignant, and Touching
Review: Nicholas Sparks knows how to tug at a reader's heartstrings. "Message in a Bottle" is a romantic, poignant, and touching tale of Theresa Osbourne and Garret Blake. Theresa, a 36-years-old single mother, works as a syndicate columnist in Boston. She randomly spots and picks up a bottle within which a letter Garret writes to his wife Catherine. Deeply touched by the love note, Theresa begins a quest for the man who concocts such sentimental words. She somehow secures another two letters with the same penmanship from a woman and a college professor. After much back-and-forth phone calls and internet searching, Theresa finally locates Garret Blake, who owns a diving shop in Wilmington. She decides to fly down and get to know this man. This tale is about overcoming the fear to love and letting go of the past. You will be touched by Garret's ever-changing feelings for Catherine and Theresa's perseverance to make the relationship work with Garret. Read for yourself. It's a page turner but you also want to absorb every tiny bit of emotion and sentiment emitted from Sparks' prose. Grab a cozy seat, have a drink, and begin a journey of love that will stir your heart. The ending is poignant yet you will always want to come back and read it again in the future. Good read. 4.5 stars.

Summary: Better Than The Movie
Review: I enjoyed this book and found it better than the movie. Often this is the case with me.....the written word is more to my taste. Would recommend it for those who enjoy this author's writing.

Summary: I liked it........
Review: I liked this book good, and easy reading. I will say if you've seen the film your missing a lot of things. I won't mention all but I highly suggest you read the book. So I will say you'll like this...

Summary: Quick but unsatisfying read
Review: This is the first Nicholas Sparks book I've read, but I wasn't too impressed. The story began well, the thought of someone finding messages in a bottle was intriguing. However, once Theresa meets Garrett the story seems to fall apart. It becomes much too simplistic and the characters become less interesting as the book goes on. I also found the ending to be too abrupt.

I plan to read more of his novels, hopefully they keep my attention longer.

Summary: Wake Me When It's Over
Review: This is the most boring book I've ever read. The plot is so unlikely I can't suspend my disbelief. The reader wishes everyone in the book would just drown. The writing is pedestrian, the dialogue soporific, the motivation irrational. If I submitted this manuscript to an editor under my by-line it would be rejected immediately.

I would have given it no stars, but that was not an option.

Summary: Dissapointed by ending
Review: This is the 2nd Nicholas Sparks book I've read (the first being A Walk to Remember). This book was quite dissapointing to me - the first half had nice character development and an interesting plot. Then the story started getting strange: they slept together on the 2nd date, the writing started getting repetitive, ect... Maybe the author was working on a strict deadline and the 2nd half was just finished too quickly to make much sense. Just my opinion!

Summary: My favorite Book by Nicholas Sparks!
Review: I've read The Notebook and A walk to remember but it was Message in a bottle that made me cry. It's the best romance novel i've ever read!
