Rating: Summary: undoubtedly the worst excuse for a book I've ever read Review: At first, when I heard this was a love story, I thought I would be open minded and give the thing a chance. What a waste of time. This book is dumb, dumb, dumb. First of all, the two characters are nothing more than selfish, immature, boorish drama queens who cry and sulk at the drop of a hat. If I read one more scene (and I mean it as a scene, because it was obviously written as a screenplay to bilk Hollywood bucks) of either of the characters standing on the beach, gazing dreamily at the water as the wind blew, I was sure I was going to gag right then. The dialogue? What a joke. I've seen better dialogue in a Daniell Steele novel. The writing itself? Please. This one obviously skipped the copy desk and went right to the shelves. IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY, BUY THIS BOOK. If not, skip it and buy a Harlequin romance novel. Pick one with Fabio on the cover - you'd get more of a thrill than this. I'm actually ashamed I actually read the entire thing (out of pure defiance. Oh, did I mention I'm a masochist?)..Thank god this review is anonymous...my friends would tease me forever if they knew I wasted my precious time on such schlock..
Rating: Summary: reading this book is a monumental waste of time Review: I've read love stories before that were sad, interesting and believable. This love story is not one of them. It is basically a cliche-ridden excuse of a book, full of predictable sappy moments and conversations. Most of the "circumstances" leading up to when the lovers meet are improbable and trite. Don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: it was a helluva book! absolutely riveting Review: Nicholas Sparks didn't fail me with this one. I read "The Notebook", and I must say that Mrs. Sparks must be beyond cloud nine by now. Theresa and Garret's story made me laugh and cry, and by the time I was almost finished w/ the book, I was expecting them to break up and then come back together again for a "Happily ever after " life. However tragic the ending though, I thought it was the best ending one could add to the story. I'm definitely going to be looking forward to many more books from Sparks.
Rating: Summary: So bad I couldn't even finish it! Review: I tried, I really did! For the masses who thought that "Love Story" was great writing. At least I won't waste any money seeing the movie. There are so many wonderful books out there that it astounds me that a book like "Message" is considered "great."
Rating: Summary: Don't read this if you don't know the ending Review: This book was great. It was my first romance novel and I can't believe that it was written by a man. It was so touching and romantic. It has an unexpected turn and a few questionable scenes but it was good overall. Great book. STOP reading now if you don't know the ending and don't want to. Read with a box of tissues. The end was so sad that I was crying for the last 50- some odd pages. Very Enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: I hated the ending! Review: I did not enjoy the book. You anticipate the ending of the book, and the end of this one was not worth the anticipation!
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This is definately the best book that I have read! It made me laugh, cry, and jump for joy. Be prepared for a whirl wind of emotions when you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Just Excellent. I read until I was finsihed. Review: I really did, I started reading after my husband left for work last evening and it was 2:22 a.m. when I looked at the clock as I closed the book. I laid it down for a short time and it was like I was rushing to get things done during a commercial on TV, had to get back to it. I was so touched by the story of Theresa and Garrett I was afraid I would wake the children blowing my nose.
Rating: Summary: Definitely not "The Notebook" Review: As someone who loved Spark's novel "The Notebook", I was extremely disappointed with this effort. I've seen better character development in high school English papers. Makes me think his previous novel was a fluke.
Rating: Summary: If you love romance stories, its a great book for you! Review: Nicholas Sparks makes a great, sad, love story which touches the soul. You must truly be romantic to love this book. If you hate mush, its not for you. I've also seen the movie and they are both great works of us. I must thank Nicholas Sparks for this book which has given me hope and inspired me with his words.
