Summary: The "Message" could not be denied!
Review: After reading Nicholas Sparks' book The Notebook, I anxiously awaited his next book. I was not dissaponted with Message in a Bottle. From Chapter One and on, this book had me captivated! I read it in one night and have re-read it since! Theresa and Garrett are the lovers of our time, and the books portrayal of that love was timeless! I still have yet to find a book to equal the emotions I felt after finishing Message in a Bottle!

Summary: Wonderful and inspiring!
Review: I read "Message in a bottle" not long ago and really do think it should become a best-seller. I cannot wait to read "The Notebook". I read "MIAB" on the plane, in about 6 hours and loved every bit of it! It was romantic, exciting and written with a lot of style! The love scenes were very descriptive and beautifully written, with a lot of style! The story-line and general feel of the book were great! Nicholas Sparks has definately become one of my favourite authors! Well done Nick!

Summary: Message sunk in a bottle
Review: Trite!!! Boring!!! Lacks ANY emotional depth, meaningful characterization or significant plot line. Obvious from the first page. Juvenile. Silly!!! Wish I had gotten anything else but my book club made me read it.

Summary: Don't waste money on the book or the movie
Review: This book should have been a step up from Sparks' first novel, The Notebook, where he combined amateur prose with a simplistically beautiful love story. However, Message in a Bottle lacked The Notebook's ring of truth and the writing was more uneven. It seemed as if Sparks couldn't quite convince himself that the hero could have a true love other than his "Catherine" (also the name of Sparks' wife). The book should have been character-centered, but instead Sparks forced his characters into unbelievable situations. As for the movie, a dead fish could have brought more life to the role than Kevin Costner.

Summary: MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE HOLDS A MESSAGE FOR ALL OF US!
Review: I am a sucker for romantic love stories and always have tissues near me when I read a book or go to the movies. It is so nice to find a "soft" mystery with a peaceful ending to balance all the things we juggle daily. MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE brings back all those wonderful childhood memories of walking along the beach hoping to find the perfect sea shell, or a message in a bottle thrown overboard by some sailor many years ago. This story is a little different. Theresa actually uses modern electronics to speed up her search, but then gets bogged down by all the human "stalls" that get in our way. She procrastinates in making her decision to find Garrett. She does not believe that she can find him or that true love is possible. She thinks of herself as "the ugly duckling" compared to Catherine. She suffers from misconceptions about what each of them want. But eventually, she is able to overcome these "stalls" to find herself as well as the real Garrett. In many ways, reading MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE is a message to all of us to get rid of our old baggage and go after what we want. For fun, escape and a good love story, I recommend you read MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE. To fulfill your dreams, I also recommend you read THE 2,000 PERCENT SOLUTION to identify the "stalls" that hold you back from getting what you want in personal or business life, and follow the steps to success, achievement and greater happiness.

Summary: The best book I've read so far in my life!
Review: I'm 16 and rarely read books but this one was for English and I started reading and couldn't stop. I read it in 3 days and it touched me so deeply. I think even men should read it also to understand love and women also. It gave me a happier spirit knowing true love forever still existed. I havent' seen the movie yet but I'm sure the books better. I'm reccommending it to everyone. Go get it now!!!

Summary: Good story, but not as moving as The Notebook
Review: Message in a Bottle held my attention fully, while proving itself to be highly entertaining. However, I read it thinking it was going to be a true heartwarming love story, as was the Notebook. By comparison, I would have to say it was superficial. The Notebook struck me as an example of classic literature, involving characters with real, honest depth and dignity. Message in a Bottle was more along the lines of a romance novel.

Summary: WISH I HAD READ THIS BEFORE I SAW THE MOVIE
Review: DEFINITELY A GOOD LOVE STORY, BUT VERY SAD...THE END LETTER IN THE BOOK WAS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE LETTER. I AM NOW READING THE NOTEBOOK.

Summary: It was incredible!!
Review: Sparks has a gift for bringing every emotion to the surface and allowing you to explore the depth of each one. Happiness, sadness, frustration, romance... it was a wonderful book and very thought provoking.

Summary: The Most Beautiful Love Story I have ever read
Review: I read this book before The Notebook. I have to say I enjoyed it more. This is the best book I have ever read. Those who say negative things about it amaze me. I think it was beautifully written and I couldn't put it down. The ending was extremely sad and I cried when I read it. This book I would highly recommend, that all romantics read. If you enjoyed The Notebook you will surely enjoy this.
