Summary: Wonderful book that kept me interested the whole time
Review: This is a great book that you can't put down once you've started it. I cried in the last few chapters because these are people you feel like you know, and this is the first book that has ever touched me in this way. It's a must read!

Summary: A book for all hopeless romantics like myself.
Review: I love to read and even more I love the theater, but when the two get mixed together I usually don't enjoy it. I find that after I've read a book I don't want to watch a movie where they've changed the plot. It ruins it for me, but "Message in a Bottle" was one that I couldn't help falling in love with both the book and movie. I was not even half way through reading the book when I saw the previews for the movie, but I made myself finish reading it before I saw it. Which made me speed up reading real fast. Another thing that I usually can not stand are depressing endings to a movie, but once again "Message in a bottle" was an exception for me. It for once portrayed a more real life example of what true and undying love can do to a person. Not to mention infatuations with a man you've never met who is just so mysteriously attractive that not searching for him seems like a crime. If I had found those messages I sure would have been on the first flight possible. When watching this with my boyfriend we both agreed if one of us died we would react the same as Garret. Such a tragedy would leave me with the same hesitations as Garret who even after meeting a women who was understanding, full of life and beautiful he still couldn't bring himself to let go of the women he wrote to. Although the women brought him new hope and an ability to at least let the idea of loving someone new cross his mind, he still would not have been able to go on with out revolving around the memories of his dead wife. "Message in a Bottle" was a beautiful story of love and infatuation.

Summary: A book I couldn't put down
Review: I couldn't put the book down! I read the entire book in one evening, then re-read the last 30-40 pages again the next day. The book took a path that I did not expect - the best kind. I will be purchasing many of these books and giving them to family members and my closest friends for Christmas. I can't think of a better gift from the heart.

Summary: A book for the soul....
Review: I anticipate Sparks next novel because his first two capticated me in an unexplainable way. When I finsihed reading Message in a Bottle, I wondered around for days with my head a sea of lovely thoughts; this is what the novel did to me. I have never been so moved -- and never so convinced that one true love awaits us all. This novel is simply elegant...for everyone who believes in love, or for those who have been led astray...you will find your hearts content in this enthralling piece of majesty.

Summary: Very touching and romantic
Review: I saw the movie first, and am currently almost done with the book. Although many differences between the movie & book, I am enjoying the book very much. Garrett's love for Catherine is truly inspiring, as is the beautiful relationship between Garrett & Theresa. I am compelled to read "The Notebook" next. Good job Nicholas!

Summary: Two people have a chance meeting and fall in love.
Review: Message In A Bottle was the finest love story Ive read in years. The story is about a woman who finds a bottle on the beach and what's inside causes changes for two people who are very lonely. There is a letter in the bottle written by a man whose wife has died and cant seem to experience love again. The woman who finds the message tracks down the man and they fall madly in love. They are both different and cant seem to change their ways. Due to that they part and the story ends in a sad way for both.

Summary: Beautifully romantic
Review: I couldn't put the book down. It's wonderful. But if you like the Cinderella-type fairy tales, this book will not be for you. I immediately had to buy "The Notebook" after finishing this one. Keep 'em coming, Nick.

Summary: A "nice" love story but not as good as The Notebook
Review: If you like mindless love stories, you'll love this book. If you are looking for an inspirational love story, you won't find it here. Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" struck me as profoundly intuitive (for a young man) of the love, sacrifice and devotion that a lifelong couple share, therefore, I was anxious to read another of his novels.

I can't say that I ever felt the depth of Garrett's despair or the hollowness of Theresa's loneliness. Sparks told me it was there, but he didn't make me feel it was there. The characters were never more than cardboard cutout figures for me.

This is a modern novel in that the characters face problems and choices that are characteristic of today's society. Widows and widowers have found love a second time for eons of time and have faced the problems presented with a second coupling. This hasn't changed, but the issues have. I wish Nicholas Sparks would have rose to the challenge of addressing those issues instead of ending the book with an easy way out (for him -- not the characters).

If you are looking for a fast and easy read (perhaps at the beach or a rainy afternoon) with a tear-jerker ending, read the book. It's not a total waste.

To Nicholas Sparks -- This book had the potential for so much more and you had the potential to make it so much more. Please reach down a little deeper into your soul next time -- you spoiled us with "The Notebook."

Summary: IS THERE REALLY SUCH A LOVE OUT THERE?
Review: WHEN I SAW THE MOVIE, I WAS TOUCHED AND MOVED TO TEARS. I CAME ACROSS THE BOOK AND BOUGHT IT BUT DID NOT READ IT FOR A FEW WEEKS. NOW I HAVE READ IT TWICE AND BOTH TIMES HAVE CRIED AS THOUGH I LOST SOMEONE CLOSE TO ME. TRUE, SOME PARTS OF THE BOOK WERE LONG AND DRY BUT THE EMOTIONS SET FORTH BY THE LOVE BETWEEN GARRETT AND CATHERINE AND THEN GARRETT AND THERESA ARE UNFORGETTABLE. I FELT THAT THE FEELINGS THE TWO FELT COULD BE REAL AND WE CAN ALL FIND THIS IF WE JUST LOOK. I NOW HAVE A RENEWED SENSE OF LOVE AND HOPE ANY OTHER BOOK BY NICHOLAS SPARKS MOVES ME THIS SAME WAY.
