Rating: Summary: Sappy Message in a Bottle Review: The Notebook made my buy this one and then I was sorry. This book had no depth, no meaning and I got a little sick and tired of "I love my dead wife" deal and "I love you because you love your dead wife" deal. When Garret died in the end I saw no reason for him to die and the worst part was that it didn't bother me. I didn't feel bad for Theresa...they were NOT in love with each other, they were both in love with dead Catherine in some perverse way. A really bad book, that lacks depth and emotion and for a love story...it lacks love.
Rating: Summary: luv da' luvas, hate da' hatas! Review: i want 2 say hay-lo to everyone out dare! N-E wayz luv dis book, hope he rites mo eva day!
Rating: Summary: A Truly Romantic Novel Review: This is the BEST book I have ever read! I could not put it down. Toward the end of the book I was sobbing so much I could hardly make out the words. This is a must read for all you romantics out there. DONT MISS THIS ONE!
Rating: Summary: Ba-land Review: Oh boy...I was ready for a heartwarming tearjerker of a novel. I haven't read a book this bland and boring in ages. The letters were pretty...but the dialogue..yikes! For those searching for some delicious reading try something by Willa Cather..."My Antonia"or "One of Ours"..or Amy Tan's "The Kitchen God's Wife" or Emile Zola's "Therese Raquin"...
Rating: Summary: A TRULY ROMANTIC BOOK Review: This was a good book, and very emotional. It was deeply touching . . .I would suggest others read it in a heartbeat. ..If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.
Rating: Summary: Completely heart-gripping! Review: This book was so totally heart-gripping that i just couldn't put it down once i started it. nicholas sparks has done a wonderful job in trying to create the sensitive side to every man or woman's character. for those of you who placed too much importance on the so-called "literary aspect" of the book, granted there may have been 'literary' incorrections but what is so unique about this book is the fact that one usually won't even notice them. a good book is not one that has the perfect grammar, perfect sentences, etc. a good book is one where the words and images just tear at your heart-strings or rather get you too deeply involved in the story. i recommend this book to all those people out there who are too cynical to believe love actually exists...(i admit, i really did not believe in love completely upto this point). i look at life differently and i'm glad that i read this book at this age rather than later on in life.
Rating: Summary: Not a book for literary enthusiasts Review: Although this book may be satisfying to romance genre readers, for those of us with any literary inclination this book is a horror. The third person narrative is too cliche and annoying. There are over a dozen instances of "she" and "she'd" in a paragraph on page 2. The story line is nice and if you can get past the style and like the premise, it's worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievably Emotional Review: We have all been on the search for love, and we all have lost at some point. This book touches on every emotion humans go through when love enters then exits your life.I could easily visualize the ocean - the discriptions were unbelievable. I fell in love with every character, and cried with each one as well. We all feel alone at points in our life, and this book romaticizes that. Everyone holds on to memories of the past while trying to walk towards the future.I read this book in one - nine hour period. I refused to see the movie because I want to hold on to my version. Truly romantic, I haven't felt this way about a book since "The Bridges of Madison County"
Rating: Summary: One of the most touching novels I ever read! Review: "The Notebook" left me a little disappointed, but I bought "Message in a Bottle" anyway. I couldn't put it down and finished it in two days. This is really one of the most touching novels I ever read. If you liked "The Bridges of Madison County", you're gonna love "Message in a Bottle". It is hard to believe that a man wrote it!
Rating: Summary: a true romantic book Review: I read this book in a day and the emotion that he captures in this book wouldn't allow me to put it down. The writing of this book makes you feel like you actually know the people and have been in there lives and know them personally. The letters in the book are just heart wrenching and make u think a bout a love once lost and how u wish you could get it back. I for one really don't want to see the movie in fear that they could not do the book justice. I hope that he will come out with another book just like this one
