Summary: Excruciating.
Review: When the cable show "Dinner and a Movie" showed the movie version of this book, their recipe of the week was "Tear Jerky". Quite appropriate; this book is nothing but a weep-fest.
Here's a thought: Maybe Theresa can get together with Landon from "A Walk to Remember".

Summary: Beautiful
Review: The imagery of the beach just enthralled me. I really got into the book, loving it. The end was a suprise, and I wish it never had happened. I liked the characters and another amazing book by Sparks.

Summary: Sensitive Writer
Review: What a wonderfully happy, sad, romantic story. I wonder if Mr. Sparks is as loving and sensitive a man as his writing would indicate (my guess is 'yes'). I would've preferred a different ending, but life doesn't always turn out the way we'd like it to.

Summary: Beautiful Story......Wonderful Audio Reading
Review: This review refers to the Time Warner Audio Book edition(unabridged) of "Message In A Bottle" by Nicholas Sparks....

This was a wonderful romantic tale, and fabulous reading that I just got lost in for the entire 8 hours of this audio book. If you are looking for something to keep you company on a long drive, working around the house,or just enjoy having a good story on tape, I would recommend Kimberly Schraf's reading of "Message In A Bottle".

The story is touching, romantic and spellbinding.Teresa is a single mother, doing her best to raise her son, still stinging form the infidelities of her ex-husband. She has a promising career as a journalist and her days are filled with work, her friends and her son's activites. She isnt trying to find the love her her life, but perhaps it has found her. While jogging on a beach in Cape Cod, Teresa discovers..yes..a message in a bottle. She is so touched by the beautiful words of the sender, that she can't help but to try and locate him.(It helps being a journalist, and having lots of resources at your fingertips).Little did she know that finding the author of this beautiful letter would change her life forever.

"Message In A Bottle" is not only a beautiful story of real love, but one that is also a journey of self awareness, of opening up to the possiblities that life has to offer. It is one that you will probably need a hankie or two as well.

Kimberly Schraf's reading is wonderful. I felt like I was being told a story by the library lady. She does an excellent job with putting just the right inflection into each character to portray their personalities without getting overly masuline with the men in the story. There are 6 tapes, about 45 minutes per side for a total of about 8 hours. I liked that on each new side, the last paragraph of the previous side was repeated. The quality and sound of the tapes were nice and clear for the most part, although at times there seemed to be some sort of echo in the background which I found slightly distracting(my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5). The editorial review here from the AudioFile says that it is read by Bruce Boxleitner and Kathleen Quinlan. The one I recieved has the reading by Schraf, and is the same image(The Time Warner Box) as the one here on the product page.

This is one that I'll probably listen to often. I loved the story, the reading, and it kept me company nicely through the day. Highly recommened for anyone who loves to hear a good story.

enjoy...Laurie

Summary: This was really a good, light read.
Review: Would highly recommend this story. Every time I put the book down, I couldn't wait to pick it up again. That's how I judge a good book. Also read his other book, The Notebook, one of my favorites. You already know the story line so I won't go into that. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Summary: Message in a Bottle
Review: Message in a Bottle is a realistic fiction story written by Nicholas Sparks. This book was a love story about a man who lost his wife and wrote love letters to her and sent them in a bottle out to sea. A columnist for the Boston Times was jogging on the beach and found the bottle, read the letter, and was amazed. Amazed that there was a man who actually had these feelings because after a bad divorce and going on many dates, she didn't think that there was one.
The woman's name is Theresa Osborne. Theresa worked at the Boston Times for 9 years and was tired of writing the same stories each year for her column. She decided she would publish the letter leaving out the names and places written in it. The letter was written to simply Catherine, and signed by Garrett. Theresa decided that she wanted to meet this man, so she found out where he lived by finding out that one of her readers had found a letter too. She found out that there was another columnist for another paper who wrote about messages in bottles, and she called him wondering if he had found a letter to Catherine from Garrett, and she bought a copy of it. In the letter there was a name of a boat that Theresa assumed he owned. She looked on the Internet and found out that the boat was in North Carolina, and so she went there. She found out that Garrett taught diving classes in North Carolina, so she called every diving school listed in the phone book and asked for Garrett, and then she finally found one. She went to the shop and found that he wasn't there, so she read an article in a magazine about Garrett Blake restoring the boat, the Happenstance, the same boat that was in the letters. She went down to the marina where the boat was and met Garrett herself. After Garrett invited Theresa to go sailing with him, they got to talk, but Theresa kept the secret of finding the letters, and he didn't tell her about his loss yet. Will they fall in love, or will Garrett's love for Catherine linger in the way of his feelings for Theresa?
This book was a very memorable book that touched me, I felt as if I was in the book, watching the events occur. I think that Nicholas Sparks did a wonderful job with this story, he wrote the story perfectly. The book was perfectly laid out, and a great climax. This book suggests that love is very strong, and love can lead the way. All though that's something everyone would like to believe except, it seems to me like it's a fantasy. But I don't know because I've never been in love. The book that seems more realistic to me is A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. In that book Nicholas has a phenomenal view on love, and I feel like that could actually happen. Messages in a Bottle made me think harder about people in my life because you never know when you might lose someone.

Summary: Tears a flowin'
Review: I'm now 24 and have not read a book since highschool. I mean, I've read chapters of books for college, but not actual stories. I got Message in a Bottle for Christmas and decided I would give reading a try. I LOVED this book. I think that like first loves, this book will always be my favorite, since it's the first real book I've read that I chose, instead of a teacher assigning it. I never thought a book could actually draw real emotions, like I hear people talking about, but I actually cried in the last chapter, it was very heartbreaking. The fact that you really get to know the characters is what makes it so touching.

Summary: The best he's written
Review: This is the best book he's written I think. An absolutely spellbinding love story. I loved everything about it- the story, the characters...everything! The movie was even good!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: For the romantic.
Review: Message In A Bottle is the first novel of Nicholas Sparks that I was able to read, and it's the main reason why he is now one of my favorite authors and why I've read all of his paperbacks!

This is perfect book for the person who's either broken-hearted, doubtful about love, or is just a hopeless romantic. It's beautifully written, and a real page turner. I bought my copy quite a few years back, and I don't get tired of reading it over and over again--I probably never will!

If you've seen the movie and wasn't very impressed... well, don't worry. The book is very different and way, way much better!

Summary: I loved this book!!
Review: What a story! After reading Sparks' Notebook, I felt compelled to read another one of his stories and see if it would compare up to it. Boy did it! I couldn't even put this book done for a second. I kept wanting to read to know what was going to happen next. Sparks' books are for the women who love romance and surprise endings.

This story is so beautiful and moving that each of the characters teaches another a little something about life that they didn't know. This story should also be able to teach men how to write to their women. Garrett's letters to his wife Catherine are so beautifully written that I wanted to cry. This story has a twist in the end that won't be expected. So please read this wonderful story by Nicholas Sparks and see if you feel the same way as I did.
