Rating: Summary: A boring and very predictable book Review: Yawn! After reading this book my main thought was that I could write as well. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: How to write a bestseller Review: If I was not so sentimental, I would have given this one star, but it did raise a tear to my eye in spite of myself. All the traditional elements of a weepy bestseller, clichéed characters, predictable story, absolutely programmed to appeal to a certain type of reader who does not want to be challenged with anything new, but hopes to find in a book a permutation of familiar themes, culminating in a watery message about the meaning of life. I felt faintly queasy after reading it, as though I had eaten too much candy floss. Disappointing, but I had not read his first book. Come to think of ot, I don't think I will either.
Rating: Summary: oh my god what a tear-jerker Review: Oh my I am so happy with this book it really left its mark in my soul. It made me cry for atleast 3 chapters. I am serious. You have to read this book, well only if you are the romantic type and like to have books make you cry. If you do and you are like me then you will read this book and all Nicholas' other books too. But this one will really leave its mark in your mind and soul. After you read this book then go see the movie they will both please you.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE! Review: I just got finished reading this and it's probably the best book so far, Nicholas Sparks has written. I highly recommend this book to the person who wants and dreams of falling in love. This piece of literature will take your breath away in an instant.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as his other two.. Review: This one is good, just not as good as the other two. I enjoyed A Walk to Remember and The Notebook much more. I found this book to be too cruel. Yes, the others are cruel, but it was the forces of nature that was being cruel. Here, I believe it was her actions that were too cruel. After he found the bottle, she traveled to his home, got his hopes up, and left him high and dry. How could she do this?
Rating: Summary: Spectacular! Review: This has been the best novel of all time for me, ever since I laid my hands on it in one Fry's store in Sacramento. I was on a plane bound for Manila when I finished it and it left me crying and crying. The passenger beside me was looking at me as if I was crazy! This book is a must-have. It depicts the side of life most of us know but don't usually think much about -- that life is not all joys. It presents a view of living that brings tears to our eyes. It represents a kind of love that is true and lasting. Only, that kind of love is not found everyday. Only people capable of giving unconditional love experience what Garret and Theresa have experienced.
Rating: Summary: Sorry, but... Review: I know a billion people love and swear by this book, and I don't want to offend you because you have a right to your opinion, and I don't want to offend Mr. Sparks, because a)I am an aspiring writer while Mr. Sparks has ARRIVED and b)Writers (and people in general) should support each other, but...I didn't like this book. I found it boring and predictable and cliche. It didn't bother me that it wasn't literary (although I prefer my books that way) because all writing doesn't have to be that way (the last time I checked there was no law against it) but for God's sake I couldn't find anything in it that made it real to me. It seemed designed to make people cry...manipulative. I'm sure Mr. Sparks has more talent than that; he doesn't need to pull those tactics. It seemed like a romance novel masquerading as regular fiction and I'm not a big fan of romance novels. I tried "The Notebook" but found the same boring, predictable cliches that I did in this one. i couldn't even finish it. Sorry, Mr. Sparks. I hope your books contiue to be bestsellers, but I won't be buying any more of your books. They're not my style. But anyone who read this, don't let it discourage you from buying his work, this is just my opinion, and the rest of these people seem to think his work is good. I'm just a big ole cynic, that's all.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: I couldn't put it down. The story got off to a quick and intriguing start and only got better. I found myself pulled into their lives, feeling angry with them and thrilled when things worked out for them. And yes, I cried. So did the other three people I lent the book to! After I finished I immediatly went to the library and found "The Notebook", also by Nicholas Sparks. I intend to watch the movie and I hope for more novels by him soon!
Rating: Summary: The living God Review: The book made me feel that there are still people who can think so deeply and highly about love.Love is as sacred as God and this is portrayed in the book. The deep emotions in the book brings one to tears and joy simultaneously. In this world of materialism its difficult to find someone with such true feelings as portrayed in the book.It also shows that God always plans out things for us which we mistake for co-incidendces...for nothing just happens it is so well planned by the master.Life is beautiful if we see it that way and find someone special you can love for all your years. The book is just incredible and once you start readind it is just impossible to keep it down.
Rating: Summary: Compelling! Review: Message in a Bottle completely touched my heart. This story made me laugh, cry, and think. Like Sparks' other novels, this is about love. Love so strong that it changed the lives of two very differnt people. Message in a Bottle made me appreciate what I have and not take it for granted. It showed me how hard it is to lose someone you love more than life itself, someone you would do anything for. Sparks described this feeling so thoroughly and so perfectly it seems as though he has experienced this himself. I have read all three of Sparks' novels and I found this to be the best. All of Nicholas Sparks' books are heart-drenching and fast reading. I have never enjoyed another author's writing as much as I enjoy his. I rarely read a book that I find interesting, but his novels are so much more than that. I can't wait until his next!
