Summary: Just one more Gin and Tonic!!
Review: Ok...let me first say that when I was reading this book I couldn't put it down. I actually read it in one day while I was at work. Its a book you can really get in to. I just loved the stuff about the wedding and etc. BUT, when I finnished the book and started think about it I realized something...the main character is a kindergarden teacher with a drinking problem!!!

Cate Padgett needs to attend some AA meetings before she can ever figure out what the hell is wrong with her love life! I guess when I think of kindergarden teachers I don't think of a girl just out of college still trying to party like like shes in high school! I mean showing up to meet one of your students and their parents (in their home) after spending ALL night getting trashed just isn't even funny! That is classic case alcoholic! EVERY time she gets together with Ethan shes drinking. Whether its at a bar, a wedding, or whatever shes got a damn gin and tonic! I've never before read a book and at the end of it thought to myself that even though the main character get together...it's not going to last!! And even though the main characters get together it's literally within the last 3 pages! I always find that I enjoy a book more when the main love interests in the book actually spend time together! I guess I'm just funny that way.

I will recommend this book to everyone if you want to read about the hilarious weddings, bad hair and even worse bridsmaids outfits! BUT, if you like a romance novel...skip it b/c there isn't any romance in this one.

Summary: My new favorite...
Review: romantic comedy. I read this book in two days despite the fact that I was in the process of moving and starting a new job. I could not put it down. The characters are so real, and seem like people I've known, like Cate could be one of my really good friends. Teh humor is hilarious, and to echo all the good reviews it's received - anyone with wedding experience will not only appreciate but LOVE this book. Of course there will always be the occasional freakish relative or wedding drunk who might see themeselves in some of the more undesirable characters, and totally miss the humor. But, hey, maybe those are the people who need to read this book. Highly recommend!

Summary: For those about to walk we salute you!
Review: That phrase should be the front cover of this book. Any girl who is about to walk down the aisle as a bridesmaid, or has in the past will love Cate Padgett. She is a bridesmaid veteran and should be saluted for the wedding combat she survives. For that matter, anyone who has ever been to a wedding will enjoy this book. Whitney Lyles's descriptions of "the wedding drunks" and the "freaky relatives" which can be found at every wedding are oh so true. There is also a lot more to the story than all the hilarious wedding ventures Cate embarks on. Lyles relays some very valuable messages about modern weddings and the way society has made them so ridiculously over the top. She llustrates how people can get so caught up with planning their wedding that they forget about the marriage - a very important statement. All around, this book was a funny AND insighful look at modern day weddings. Loved it!

Summary: drinking, blacking out, and acting like a high schooler
Review: The fact that this was by a first-time author certainly shows. The main character Cate's habit of drinking, blacking out, and blaming the resulting consequences on booze and/or hangover is no more "fun" in a novel than it is in real life. Not once, not twice, not for the third time.
I think attending AA instead of yet another snotty, self-centered "friend's" wedding would have made more sense.

It's a bit silly for a kindergartden teacher to be "scared to death" of a kid's booger-- I'd say consider a career change if that's the case.

The book's theme was drink lots, get drunk enough to pass out, attend weddings of horrible women, then act like idiot due to hangover or booze. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. And eat many burritos.

Would someone please tell me what the heck is a "schwartzky" crystal? I don't want to confuse it with a Swarovski crystal.

Summary: Always A Hit
Review: This book is hilarious! And true! Not only will this become a classic for bridesmaids all over the world, but anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding will appreciate these tales of matrimonial mayhem. Lyles is so observant, pinpointing the freaky relative and wedding drunk that are always found on the dance floor at weddings. It's so refreshing to have a good hearted, patient heroine who is a trooper til the end. Cate Padgett is the ultimate wedding warrior! Though all her freinds are getting married, rarely does she feel sorry for herself or indulge in pity parties. Rather, she makes the best of each wedding crisis that she encounters and continuously saves the day. All the bad hairdos, ugly bridesmaids dresses and wild bachelorette paries she encounters will be appreicated by all wedding "veterans". I'm in a wedding next summer and I want to give this to all my fellow bridesmaids at the shower!

Summary: Breath taking from begining to end!
Review: This book was amazing! Simply breath taking from begining to end! I think I read the book in about two days, I just couldn't put it down. An absolute MUST summer read.

Summary: I could not put this book down!
Review: This book was great, I read it in only 3 days after work! That is how great it is. For anyone who has been in at least one of her friends weddings you can totally relate! And for anyone who is "always the bridesmaid" you will totally appreciate every part of this book! Enjoy!

Summary: I have hopes for the author's next book
Review: This is the book that should have gotten an editor interested in Lyles, but shouldn't have been published. While it's sometimes amusing, I found it so hard to have any interest in the immature characters (the main character reflects fondly on her childhood friend, who will be the love of her life: "Ethan was the first person she ever got stoned with") that I stopped reading at page 40. I was desperate for something to read, though (it was a snowy weekend) and finally struggled from about page 160 to the end.

I agree with the reviewer who said she thought anything could get published if this could. There's very little plot, very little character development, and even less decent writing. Nevertheless, there is a spark here, and since the author did already get published--and is clearly selling well--there's hope that she'll learn along the way and that we might see a good book from her in a few years (with, oh please, a main character with a mental age of more than eight).

Summary: To be the bride, first you must be a bridesmaid
Review: This romantic comedy is a laugh-out-loud hit! Watch as Cate decides what she wants and doesn't want in a dating relationship. The plot is predictable, however, this book isn't one to miss.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great light-hearted read
Review: This was a great book that I could really identify with! I didn't want to put it down, and even read it on my lunch breaks. This book was laugh-out-loud funny! A great, quick read!
