Rating: Summary: Books are Entertainment Review: Books are entertainment folks. I don't why we read books and expect doctoral theses. A book is just that a book. If you read it and don't get it, move on. All the bashing is unnecessary. They bash Zane and alot of authors who are just doing their thing. If you didn't have a good or okay book to pass the time you might be wandering the streets at night kicking cans. Give me a break.
Rating: Summary: Sorority of APF Existing In Anytown, USA Review: APF is a sorority (kept on the low) of professional black women that meet regularly to seek out lucrative investments and lucrative sex. Though the book is a work of fiction it can easily be a secretive society in Anytown, USA. Without much plot or character development, "the sisters of APF" explores the sexual fantasies and power that real women probably want to flaunt more openly but can't due to the society's preconceived notion of how women should behave in public and the bedroom - docile. The characters are definitely one-dimensional and their behavior is soooo predictable from their first introduction. • Mary Ann, the law student from the South Dakota. She's lived on her family's chicken farm all her life and moves to D.C. to attend law school. The "country bumpkin" naïve to city life and men decides to explore all that D.C. has to offer. • Patricia, the big city law student that "helps" Mary Ann become more acquainted to city living by introducing her to APF • Olive, a plastic surgeon and leader of APF. After a mean then bizarre encounter with Mary Ann she fully shows Mary Ann the power of being a female and the "benefits" of an APF membership. • Trevor, a wealthy and intelligent, third year law student looking to settle down. After sexing nearly the entire campus for the past three years, Trevor lavishes Mary Ann with gifts to capture her heart and so much more. Throughout the book, each character or combination of characters is involved in an explosive sexual encounter. Zane gets "One Thumb Up" for using condoms during most of the encounters. Not much plot, so short stories over a full book would be my preference. Super easy read.
Rating: Summary: Just call me "Soror Don't Get the Point".... Review: Here's another disappointment by Zane! The Heat Seekers was absolute garbage, but since she has produced quality work in the past (Addicted), I decided to give the sista another chance and support her latest effort. Big mistake! The Sisters of APF isn't worth the paper the book is printed on. This book has absolutely no premise. Where was the climax? What was the point? Reading about Mary Ann, Patricia and Olive and their multiple sexual escapades did nothing for me. It was all in vain. You gotta hand it to Zane for depicting the men in the novel (Clarence, Trevor, Hakim, Alejandro) as absolute imbeciles. They were madly in love with these women and seemingly faithful minus a minor indiscretion here and there. Meanwhile, the women are participating in multiple encounters with various partners in every place imaginable from alleys to firehouses. All of this is painted as justifiable throughout the book and the men have NO CLUE!! Pray tell, how is having sex with nine men in one night treating your body as a "temple"? This is not my idea of being sexually unrepressed at all... There are other terms for this type of behavior! All in all, this is most likely the last book I'll ever cop from this author unless she can do a complete 180. Instead of dropping a rushed novel every three months, Zane could learn a lot from her counterparts who put out a quality and developed 5 star story every year or so.
Rating: Summary: This book was worth a pot of coffee.. Review: I started reading at about 6pm and before I knew it, it was 2am and I wanted more. This book was much!! better than Sex Chronicles II. I actually returned Sex Chronicles II the next day.
Rating: Summary: TOO Hot!! Review: Whew! This book definitely lives up to Zane's reputation for producing pieces that are hot and steamy and provide a sure-fire escape for the sista reading it. The Sisters of APF is about a sorority that isn't concerned about stepping, cat-calls or pledging. This sisterhood is all about sex, although they do have an investment club on the side. The sistas in this book have taken women's liberation to a whole 'nother level. This book is a quick read and is a great "escape" book. I recommend it to those of us who think we might be "intimately repressed" and to us "liberated girls." Both groups are sure to learn something new! Kristy- Sister 2 Sister Book Club Founding Member
Rating: Summary: It was alright Review: I was going to buy this book, but a co-worker/friend of mine bought it instead, so I borrowed it from her and read it. I'm glad I did, cause the book was alright, it wasn't fascinating or really good where I would be like "damn, I gotta buy me a copy". I know that she has another new book based on one of her short stories called "Nervous". If I can borrow that book and read it I will. I won't be buying another Zane book. I think that she needs to slow down with her sex books. Because after awhile it's repeatative.
Rating: Summary: Sexy & Hot Review: Now you all know that Zane is the girl. How she comes up with these stories is beyond me. I truly enjoyed the book. Way to go!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT, QUICK, FUN READ! Review: In my eyes, Zane has redeemed herself! I loved "Addicted....;" who didn't? Yet I'd almost convinced myself that it was a "one hit wonder....." I haven't really enjoyed any of her other work. This novel, however, proves that Zane is here to stay! Here is a sort of sexually-oriented Cinderella story--the homely, backward country girl arrives in the Chocolate City...; meets the street-smart city girl who dresses her up, takes her out, and introduces her to living a life without sexual inhibitions. I thought the dialogue was well-done and completely believable, the characters fun, and the storyline great. I loved the creativity, yet simplicity of this book. Fun,creative and imaginiative....Zane gets a gold star from me.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: I browsed for some new reading material for hours before deciding on Zane's latest work. I must admit that this was my first experience with this particular author. After reading the introduction, I became an instant fan. I envision this author to be one that you would instantly "click with" if you ever met her in person. I finished the book in a matter of hours...literally! Zane's work is both sexy and sophisticated. The women are very real. This book will spark something in most females that are uninhibited by its contents. This book will have men re-thinking their approach. I found myself loosening my curls! I plan to back track and read the other works by Zane. Hopefully this one will become a series of works. The ending is leading us to what may come next for the women of APF. Zane, how 'bout it? P.S. Make the next one longer
Rating: Summary: PUUUURFECT Review: ZANE HAS DONE IT AGAIN. I'm starting my own APF chapter APF member since 2003
