Rating: Summary: Zane can do better than this Review: I became a fan of Zane after reading The Sex Chronicles. I picked up this book because I did enjoy the short stories about APF. I was disappointed, however, because Zane did not develop any of the characters or the plot enough to carry an entire book about APF.Even a slow, careful reader could read this book in under three hours. The main character, Mary Ann, is so boring, stereotypical, and one-dimensional. Sure, she's a closet freak, but we already knew that from the previous short stories where she introduced herself as Soror Ride Dick. I can't express how unbelieveably one-dimensional the plot and characters are. Another major problem is that although Zane is known for her steamy, erotic sex scenes, there are virtually no sex scenes for the first half of the book. That would be acceptable if the plot was moving along, but it's not. When you do get to a sex scene it seems awkward and lacks detail. I don't know what Zane was thinking. There is one tiny, pathetic plot twist at the end of the story, but it almost seems out of place in this boring book. I gave this book 3 stars because I still like Zane and I know has done and will do better books. In all honesty, it deserves 2 stars. Don't let this be the first book you read by Zane, because you'll probably never read her again. Borrow this one from a friend, read it in the bookstore (I know it sounds ghetto, but this is a short book), or just ask someone to tell you what it's about.
Rating: Summary: Fun Read Review: Fun relaxing read. One of Zane's best. highly Recommended
Rating: Summary: Only My Opinion....... Review: But I feel ZANE is losing her touch the story was cute but more for a teenager. I don't feel adults do some of the idiotic things ZANE was trying to suggest. I mean I love her style but I feel that I would be lying if I said wow ZANE is getting better when in fact she is slipping. Not that I am giving up on her but this book was to simple for any adult.
Rating: Summary: A Ride Worth Taking Review: Best-selling author Zane returns with THE SISTERS OF APF: THE INDOCTRINATION OF SOROR RIDE DICK, another fast-paced, sensual read based upon a short story from her first collection of short stories: The Sex Chronicles. With the title of this book, you're given an idea of the plot of the story and the secrets that lie within the closed doors of this prestigious sorority of women who are educated, articulate, beautiful and have no qualms when it comes to their sensuality and the complete fulfillment they expect and demand from those they let into their intimate world. The Sisters of APF are selective of their members and have chapters spread abroad with yearly gatherings and monthly escapades pulling their members from all walks of life; including college students who may need a little nudge in taking part of the female sexual revolution. After staying home and attending a local college for her undergraduate degree, Mary Ann Ferguson is headed to Hartsdale Law School in Washington, D.C. She is leaving behind the chicken farm, her parents, eight siblings and her high school sweetheart, Clarence, on a journey to meet new people and further her desire to become a lawyer. Patricia Reynolds is the resident assistant at the dorm in which Mary Ann lives and though she thinks Mary Ann is a country bumpkin, she sees something else hidden beneath the surface and invites Mary Ann to join her for a meeting with her "investment club." Armed with upperclassmen knowledge and seniority, Patricia leads Mary Ann into the secret world of The Sisters of APF, their mission, and the tools necessary to lead her away from her timid, good girl demeanor into an experience that is more fitting...one in which she will not settle for just anything when it comes to sex. As in most of her books, Zane has taken a bold look into the lives of women unafraid to express their sexual wants and desires. And, while I don't condone all of the activities of this book, I do applaud Zane on yet another story with an underlying theme of being true to yourself and not being a victim in any arena of your life; especially sexually. No, the sorority does not exist outside of the pages of THE SISTERS OF APF: THE INDOCTRINATION OF SOROR RIDE DICK, but it does help one to see that "if they could work hard every day, bring home the bacon, and raise a family then they deserve a little hellified sex in their lives." This is definitely a ride worth taking. Reviewed by Tee C. Royal of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
Rating: Summary: absolutely perfect! Review: Mary Ann starts out like most girls I know (modest and discreet). I was surprised how she had nerve be so sexually open and honest. Mary Ann became uninhibited and used her newfound sexuality to her advantage. I was more than satisfied with the book. After I read it I immediately bought copies for a few close friends and family in other states and lent mine to a co-worker at work who's already a fan. This is the first book I read by Zane and regret that I haven't started sooner. I am now rapidly going through the rest of her books. "Addicted" was great I am now reading "Heat Seekers" and the Sex Chronicles and its sequel is en route to me now. I think the APF sorority should have a series of books and I want to thank you Zane for exceeding my expectations with the story. (Even the cover under the dust jacket - perfect marketing.) APF was not a disappointment and kept me wanting to read more and is now the first book I recommend to all that haven't read it. I will reread it again when I get through the rest of Zane's collection. Those who I've recommended the book to also loved it and we are now forming a book club. Thanks again Zane!
Rating: Summary: My first time Review: I just became a Zane fan, after hearing so much about her from a friend of mine. I really enjoyed this book. Yes it did have its dragged out moments, but it was still very good reading. I can't wait to read the other books by Zane. Yes.... read this book, it's good
Rating: Summary: Riveting, Excitement, and Sexuality Liberating Review: This book is a page turner. I read it in one sitting, like 4 hours straight. Mary Ann bka Soror Ride Dick was first judged as a plain jane with exploiting any sexual desires but then once she caught Olive in the alley with Drayton then it was on from there. She realized that she was aroused by Olive's sexual inhibitations. I enjoyed every last minute because everybody has a little freakiness in them. I was a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Go Sistah's Review: The 'sistahs' of this book take control of their sexuality in a big way. Their monthly 'freak nights' are elaborately set up feasts where their pleasure comes first. OK one of the main characters changes from being a shy inhibited farmgirl to an uninhibited sexual tigress over the course of just 1 semester. Hey it can happen. And this is a quick read so we don't have all day. There are hundreds, if not thousands of books out there where men do the same so there should be no complaints if the sistahs go for it. The dialog is real, fast paced, and funny too. I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Again & Again Review: Zane can you be stopped? I dont think so. This has got to be my favorite book of hers by far. Behind every shy girl there is a little freaky woman that wants to come out, she just has to be put to the test. I loved this book. I read it in 1 day. Zane keep up the good work. This is definetly a book to add to your collection...
Rating: Summary: Very distasteful!!! Review: This book sucked to the uptmost. I think it shows very poor taste that we have these authors like Zane that promote sex in the most vulgar way. "Soror Ride DicK", please!!! This book wasn't helpful at all and very distasteful to say the least. The only thing that I learned from this book is how to be a slut. It doesn't in any way promote sexual freedom, but slut freedom among women. I don't think that's the legacy I would want to leave behind on a college campus. How about loving yourself more, so men like Trevor won't see you as an easy target. Not to mention picking "Real friends that don't stab you in the back, and then sleep with your man." I don't see where anyone learned anything except on how to screw on a college campus, which defeats the purpose of going to college in the first place. Why go to college?? Why not just hit the avenue if all you are going to be doing is lying on your back? Women in this book give nice, women a really bad name. What about women who have a little integrity and who aren't superficial and shallow? I did not like this book at all. I have read better.
